Jeopardy schedule issues has fans fuming as they ‘miss 15 episodes’ due to changes and ‘catch up alternative’ disappears

FANS of the hit game show Jeopardy! are complaining that they’ve missed several episodes recently due to a programming issue.

Jeopardy! is currently in its 41st season and is one of the longest-running game shows in history.

The show, which is hosted by Ken Jennings, airs daily in syndication and has won 45 Emmy Awards in its history.

But fans aren’t impressed with the new season, as several are “missing out” on seeing the daily episodes due to a local coverage issue.

One viewer took to Reddit to complain how how they have been missing episodes “due to local FOX station”.

“So far this season I’ve missed probably about 10-15 episodes of Jeopardy! due to other programming, etc,” they penned in a subreddit dedicated to the show.

“I understand when there’s hurricane coverage Jeopardy! won’t air, but now basketball season is starting (yay!) and I’m afraid I’m going to miss many more episodes,” they continued.

The original poster explained how they usually record the episodes and watch the next day, adding, “and as I tried to watch last night’s, the recording was just NBA pregame stuff”.

They added, “Unfortunately, YoutubeTV doesn’t offer a VOD option for Jeopardy like they do with other shows.

“My question is: How do the rest of you deal with similar situations in your local market? Is there another option for watching when the local FOX station doesn’t air Jeopardy! that evening?”

Responding to the original poster, one fellow Jeopardy! fan replied, “There’s a link in the sidebar to ‘Alternative Viewing Methods,’ which may help you if you have a Paramount+ or Peacock account.”

They then added, “More immediately pressing is that after tonight, five of the next six episodes (tomorrow, at least Monday and Tuesday of next week, and possibly Thursday and Friday) are preempted on nine Fox affiliates for the World Series and its pregame coverage.

“For you specifically, WVUE is showing Friday’s episode airing at 3 AM (there’s a college football game, Rutgers at USC, immediately following the baseball), but no re-schedule yet for any of the others.”

But then bad news came when someone added, “The ‘Alternative Viewing Methods’ post has been removed”.

FANS IN JEOPARDY OVER TV STATIONS

Meanwhile, someone else noted that they tried calling the station, adding, “Way, way back they used to send you copies of the episodes you missed. But this year I called up after missing one because of MLB playoffs and the gal on the line said, ‘We don’t know when it aired.’ Which was of no help. But maybe you will be better!”

And a third person offered, “When it’s a scheduled preemption, the channel will either show Jeopardy (and WoF) either before the game or later that night.

“Thus is always reflected in the cable guide and my DVR adjusts accordingly. I’m in Arizona.”

Jeopardy! Set Secrets

Jeopardy! fans don’t see everything behind the scenes from watching on TV. These hidden set features make the show run smoothly:

  • Each podium has a hidden riser so that all contestants appear to be the same height.
  • After each clue is read, signal lights go off around the game board, indicating players can buzz in and respond.
  • Buzz in too early, and you’re locked out for .25 seconds.
  • The podiums have a small white light in the lower left corner, which tells Ken Jennings who goes next.
  • Contrary to popular belief, the player with control doesn’t have a buzzer advantage on the next clue.
  • To the game board’s left is a scoreboard so the players can see their opponents’ scores.
  • All contestants must bring three outfits to the studio, but only the host and returning champion change for the next episode.
  • There are wardrobe rules, including restrictions on busy patterns, solid white, purple (like the background), and logos.
  • Five episodes are taped in a single day, and sometimes more.
  • The categories, players (aside from the returning champion), and Final Jeopardy! for a tape day are all drawn randomly to ensure fairness.
  • Female contestants are asked not to wear makeup, which is applied backstage, and don’t wear mascara because of sweat.
  • Contestants fill out a questionnaire, and producers select five Q&A topics for the host.
  • Host Ken isn’t allowed to interact with the contestants until after the game.
  • Players can request to sit in a chair while competing without question.

PODCAST NOT IN JEOPARDY

This comes after the show’s podcast made a very exciting announcement last month.

Fans of the popular game show were overjoyed last month when it was revealed that a beloved contestant would be cohosting the show’s podcast.

Sam Buttery first appeared on Jeopardy! in 2021, and he quickly became a much-loved player on the game show.

The news was shared with a sweet snap of Sam sitting beside Sarah Whitcomb Foss, who usually hosts the podcast.

“Hold onto your butts! #InsideJeopardy! is back with a new co-host, SAM BUTTREY! Listen now with the link in bio,” the caption to the snap read.
