Jamie Foxx’s daughter Corinne Foxx reveals they celebrated her engagement in his room at a physical rehab center amid his illness

Newlywed Corinne Foxx shared some details about how her engagement plans changed when her father Jamie Foxx faced his medical emergency in April 2023.

Her now husband Joe Hooten planned to propose in Ireland, but the couple found themselves at Foxx’s bedside in Chicago while he recovered.

“I didn’t know that Joe had changed his plans so he could still propose on the same day — just in a different city,” she said in a new interview for Fashion.

“He flew from Los Angeles with my mom and had my aunts in a bush FaceTime with my dad the whole time,” she explained.

‘He even planned a very special party after the engagement in my father’s room [at a physical rehabilitation center] in Chicago. It was a small celebration, but so intimate and meaningful.”

Last month, the loved-up couple got married at Jamie’s Los Angeles home and the Jamie Foxx Show star walked his daughter down the aisle.

Corinne chose a meaningful song for the father-daughter moment.

‘I walked into a string version of Georgia On My Mind by Ray Charles. My father won his Oscar for his acting [Ray] in 2005,” the bride explained.

Corinne attended the Academy Awards with her father when he won Best Actor for his portrayal of Ray Charles.

‘When I was ten years old, I was his plus one and I got to share that special moment with him. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house when we came down the aisle,” she said.

“It was incredibly special considering his health issues last year,” Corinne said.

“We always knew we were going to get married in my dad’s backyard,” she said. ‘He has the most beautiful property. It already looks like a wedding location.

‘We couldn’t think of anything more special than a home wedding. It just felt good.”

Her current husband, Joe Hooten, made a quick turnaround on his plans to propose in Ireland when Jamie Foxx was hospitalized with a serious and mysterious illness in April 2023.

At the time, no one knew what the 56-year-old Ray actor’s prognosis was and Corinne simply said her father had a “medical complication” and was “on the road to recovery.”

The wedding party lasted until 4am and the guests danced and enjoyed themselves.

Corinne and Joe met in 2018 while attending the University of Southern California. He was a roommate with one of her friends from high school.

“I always had a crush on Joe,” Corinne said, saying it wasn’t until years later that they started dating.

“I liked an old photo of Joe on Instagram and he immediately DMed me,” she said. “Our first date was on a sailboat, where Joe lived at the time.”
