Kanye West and Bianca Censori are said to have orchestrated speculation that they are heading for divorce in order to create buzz around his new album.
On Monday, multiple reports emerged that the couple had secretly split ‘weeks ago’, with the 47-year-old rapper reportedly ‘ready to divorce’ his wife, 29.
However, the duo were photographed together in Japan just hours after the split claims became public.
Now, sources close to the couple believe the speculation surrounding their nearly two-year marriage was a deliberate ploy to help build publicity around Kanye’s new album.
At the end of last month, Ye announced his new album Bully and debuted the song Beauty and the Beast at an event in China. He also released his album Vultures 2 in August.

An insider told DailyMail.com: ‘They knew that by doing this it would create some buzz and make them relevant as he tries to promote his new album.
‘They both know that people are over them and that her naked outfits aren’t enough to keep people interested. Everyone has seen her naked, now there’s nothing left to wonder about.’
Bianca often makes headlines for wearing next to nothing in public, while the American rapper covers herself up completely while they’re out and about.
The model has made a name for herself by stepping out in stockings with no underwear underneath and daring bodysuits that barely cover her.
But now the insider says they may have resorted to a new tactic to attract attention because people are no longer shocked by her daring wardrobe.
They said: ‘Bianca over-exploited her sexuality with his help and now no one cares. So they create some rumors that they’re done, capitalize on that by wiping social media and spending time apart and bam, they’re back in the public interest.

Earlier this year, Kanye declared that his wife Bianca will wear even less clothes in 2024 after sharing a slew of racy snaps to his Instagram account.
“Bianca over-exploited her sexuality with his help and now no one cares. So they create some rumors that they are done, capitalize on that by wiping social media and spending time together,” the source said
“Her friends are starting to think this is just sad.”
On Monday, TMZ reported that the rapper and his wife were ‘possibly’ planning to file for divorce.
The Yeezus rapper was in China and Japan, while Bianca spent some time away in her native Australia.
Bianca closed her Instagram account and Kanye also deleted all images from his account except one, which was posted on February 28.
During this time, she had claimed to friends that she could no longer “ignore” her family’s questions about the more disturbing parts of their relationship.
“They broke up a while ago,” the source exclusively told DailyMail.com. “Bianca started to see the relationship in a new light when her friends and family expressed concerns about the way she dressed in public and Kanye felt like she didn’t like him as much as she did in the beginning.”
Bianca was pictured with her sisters Alyssia and Angelina, and mother Alexandra, in mid-August after they flew to Los Angeles to visit her.
The controversial couple was reportedly already ‘drifting’, but everything changed after their visit.
Bianca’s loved ones have often expressed fears about how much she might have changed since marrying the musician – with some even going so far as to stage an intervention.
DailyMail.com previously reported that her father Leo was keen to confront his son-in-law, while her parents feared their daughter was a rebound.
In February, a source told DailyMail.com that Kanye’s ex-wife Kim asked him to have his wife covered up when they were around their children.
“Kim instructed Kanye to never let Bianca dress like that around their kids,” they said. ‘She’s really surprised that Kanye would let his wife leave the house like that.
“Kanye did the same thing he did to Bianca and Kim during their wedding. The difference is that when Kanye dressed Kim, he was respected as a person – as an artist.”
The rapper shares daughters North, 11, Chicago, six, and sons Saint, eight, and Psalm, five, with Kim.
