A DRIVER has claimed she was blocked from using a car wash because of the type of vehicle she owns.
The bizarre rules meant that the bemused motorists had to hand wash her car at home.

LA native Courtney Ferris posted about her experience on her TikTok page, with the clip gathering over 420,000 views.
In the video, Courtney took her car to a local gas station for a wash.
But when she got there, she found a small sign attached to a green bollard outside the forecourt.
The notice read: “Tesla Cybertrucks not allowed.”
Courtney, who owns one of the high-tech SUVs, was baffled by the restriction and had to take her vehicle elsewhere.
She claimed that the ban forced her to use a hand car wash instead of enjoying the ease of the automated version.
She said: “It turns out you can’t go through this car wash with a Cybertruck.
“I don’t know why.
“It must be because they are too big maybe?”
Viewers speculated as to why the policy might have been put in place.
One claimed: “They can’t go through car washes they have no protective coating and they will start to rust.”
Another suggested: “I work at a car wash and we’ve had issues with the cyber trucks steering by wire.
“It can make the truck hop the conveyor and possibly damage the carwash and the truck.”
However, the business did provide a reason for the rules, which came down to the fine print in Courtney’s car deal.
The sign added: “Tesla warranty does not cover car wash damage.”
What to do if a dealership closes
If you recently bought a car or motorcycle from a dealership that suddently closed, you may feel anxious about how that affects you.
When you finance a new car or motorcycle or need warranty repairs done at an authorized dealership, a sudden closure can make some people think they’re out of options or worry their car will be repossessed.
If you’re in a situation that sounds like that, here are a few things you can do after receiving an official notice:
- Notify the bank hosting your loan of the closure to make them aware. If the financing is done through the dealership itself, it’s important to contact the dealership or your salesperson to ask how to keep up your payments. Many dealerships will send the lien (the title and registration that will only be released to the buyer after the debt is paid) to a financial institution to keep.
- If the dealership cannot be contacted through traditional means, most states allow drivers to apply for the title and registration through the DMV.
- If you leased a car from a dealership that went out of business, instructions should be sent as to which dealership to bring your vehicle to when the lease expires. If not, contact the dealership.
- A factory warranty through the manufacturer will be honored at any other authorized dealership. However, an extended warranty through the dealership may not be honored at other repair shops, so it’s important to seek that information from the dealership as soon as possible.

Indeed, Tesla’s own website says that car washes can “can cause damage or discoloration” to its cars.
Some models do have a Car Wash Mode which helps to protect its electronics while going through the machine but this didn’t appear to make any difference to the ban.
As such, if the $100,000 car was damaged, the car wash could find itself liable for repair costs in the event of a claim so it’s easier for them to just ban Cybertrucks.
