I tried mix of Lush’s classic & limited edition products – face scrub is game changer for dry skin

LUSH is famous for its luxurious skincare and haircare products as well as its incredible bath bombs.

When it comes to making baths and showers an indulgent experience, the high street beauty chain is known as the place to go.

But to really put it to the test, I tried a handful of their new, limited edition products as well as some of their well-loved classic creations.

The bag of treats included some of their festive goodies including the brand’s new Halloween Pumpkin Crumble Bubble Bar and the Christmas favourite Snow Fairy Body Scrub.

It also included the new, limited-edition Cempasúchil Shower Gel and two other classic products – the Happy Skin Facial Exfoliator and Coconut Drench Massage Bar.

After trying them all over the course of two weeks, I found the facial exfoliator to be a complete game changer, while another festive product surprisingly left my skin silky smooth.

Snow Fairy Body Scrub – £10

Everyone loves a bit of Snow Fairy on the run-up to Christmas – according to Lush data, Glasgow City sold the second most amount of Christmas products for Christmas 2023.

And now this year there are even more products celebrating the pink, sparkly stalwart than ever before.

One of the new items is the moisturising, exfoliating body scrub which has the iconic scent that can’t be matched.

And what makes it different from other body scrubs is that its ingredients include caster sugar, which is what gently exfoliates and draws moisture into the skin.

I have to say I absolutely love it – it is super gentle on the skin and I use it on my arms, legs and chest.

It melts away pretty quickly so you need to make sure you scrub in small circles before washing it away.

It is a great scrub that leaves the skin smelling incredible, but I have to admit, it only gently exfoliates the skin. So if you’re looking for something that gets deeper into the skin then you may need something else.

Happy Skin Facial Exfoliator – £15

I’m a sucker for a good facial exfoliator – and this one is unmatched. I wouldn’t use any other exfoliator for my face now it’s that good.

This sweet scrub is ideal for those who like medium-intensity exfoliation because it has small and fine polishing particles that get right into the smaller pores on your face.

Its ingredients include tagua nut, bamboo, bromelain-rich pineapple and juicy jackfruit which all work together to finely buff the skin and then melt away stubborn skin squames.

It also has argan and extra virgin olive oils which nourish and hydrate the skin, leaving it feeling velvety, smooth, and super bright. And since you only need to use a little bit at a time, it actually lasts for ages.

My face felt incredible after using this, I could honestly feel it working as I used it and as soon as I rinsed it away my skin had an instant glow.

I did use my favourite Celestial cream afterwards just to lock in some extra moisture, and I found that the combination just left my face feeling flawless.

My face, which is normally quite dry, has never felt so good after using this – it is a complete game-changer for me!

Pumpkin Crumble Bubble Bar – £8

I’ve never really used bubble bars before, but I was blown away by the new Halloween Pumpkin Crumble Bubble Bar.

It’s a gorgeous, creamy, spicy and festive blend that creates a luxurious, softening bubble bath that is filled with real pumpkin purée.

The bar itself is made up of two pumpkin halves full of uplifting citrus essential oils with Fair Trade shea butter sandwiched between them which moisturises the skin.

All you need to do is break a little bit off and crumble it at the bottom of the bath while it runs or hold it under the running water and it melts into your bath while filling it with bubbles.

After steeping in the bath, I was very pleasantly surprised to find that it left my skin silky smooth – the purée actually works to leave the skin supple while the butter softens it.

I felt amazing by the time I got out of the bath, and I also noticed that the spicy, citrus essential oils actually boosted my mood.

I managed to get four uses out of the bar but could easily have had five, so it lasts for a long time as well which is an added bonus!

Bubble bar price cut hack

A LUSH insider has shared a top tip for getting the most out of the high street chain’s bubble bars on the cheap.

All you need is a friend or loved one who is willing to buy one of the beauty brands’ bubble bars with you.

Each bubble bar has around three to four uses in it, and they cost an average of between £4.50 and £8.

If you both pick up a bubble bar at, say, £6 each, then you normally you’d have three whole uses of each one.

But the Lush expert explained that if you both half your bubble bars then you’ll get two uses out of each half.

So if you swap a half each then you’ll both end up with two different bubble bars that can each be used twice for the same amount of money.

So for the same £6, you’re both actually getting two bars that can be used twice rather than one bar that can be used three times.

Cempasúchil Shower Gel – £8

Another limited-edition product I tried was the Cempasúchil Shower Gel which pays homage to the Mexican festival Día de Muertos, or Day of the Dead, which takes place every November.

As part of the festivities, the bright yellow and orange cempasúchil flower is celebrated because it represents the union between life and death, and many decorate their homes with garlands full of the beautiful flower.

And now Lush has created a stunning, vibrant shower gel that lets us dorn our skin with a marigold infusion and a little sparkle.

Bosses at the beauty chain say it’s meant to bring us a little be of happiness during the dark days and nights to come.

They explained: “The fragrance of this beautiful blend reminds us that death in pre-Hispanic culture was not seen as something bad but as a process of transformation. May it also bring you joy on gloomy mornings or dark evenings.”

I absolutely love this product, it smells incredible and I also found that the marigold infusion cleansed the skin and left it feeling super soft.

The smell lasts for ages and as soon as you step out of the bath or shower you feel instantly fresh and it’s a feeling that stays with you for the full day.

Coconut Drench Massage Bar – £10

This rich hydrating coconut and vanilla massage bar is another classic product from the team at Lush.

In terms of the different message bars on offer at Lush, this one is definitely my favourite – it has a moisturising and hydrating blend of ingredients which smell delicious.

It has virgin coconut oil and Brazilian babassu oil which work together to help repair skin, while the tonka and vanilla touches add a rich and cosy sweetness.

It is a little bit oily, so after using it you have to wait a while for it to soak into the skin, or have a quick shower to wash off any excess oil.

The buttery bar is incredibly relaxing, though, I found that it actually has a very positive effect on both my body and mind.

Plus you smell incredibly sweet and coconutty after using it – what’s not to love!
