Hyundai dealership refuses to fix my car after it was recalled over dangerous issue – I’m paying for vehicle I can’t use

A DRIVER is fighting for her recalled vehicle to be returned after the automaker reportedly refused service due to a little-known loophole.

TikToker Becky blasted Hyundai after she claimed it wouldn’t even let her pay for a new engine.

For over a week, the furious driver has been calling out the brand for reportedly refusing to take back her 2017 Hyundai Tucson.

The car drama started when Becky (@awko_taco13) took her car to the mechanic six months after purchasing it because she had some issues.

The mechanic told her a part in her car had been recalled, so she would need a replacement.

Becky claims her model is one of the 95,000 cars that potentially have an engine with defective rod bearings.

The car recall was issued in September 2021, warning that these models could stall at highway speed and risk a crash.

Any model with engine damage from the defect would get a free engine replacement, while others would get preventative remedies without charge.

However, Becky claims Hyundai wouldn’t replace her engine because her car had too many miles on it.

She tried to pay for a new engine but claimed that Hyundai wouldn’t allow her to buy one because of the recall.

“Safety recalls need to be honored it doesn’t matter the kilometers,” she said in a video.

“So do something about this because I’m livid.”


After several more posts complaining about the issue, Becky said on Tuesday that Hyundai contacted her.

They took her information and said they would get back to her with a solution.

“I want to thank everybody who was commenting and watching the videos,” she said.

“You definitely helped get some attention on it.”

The U.S. Sun has reached out to Hyundai and Becky for any updates on the situation.

Car recalls are fairly common, so drivers should be aware of any news about their current models.

The Hyundai drama comes after Fiat recalled over 15,000 luxury models due to an issue that could cause horrific injuries.

And Ford has recalled a whopping 144,500 trucks due to a dangerous problem that can cause crashes.

All recalls initiated by the NHTSA mean free repairs for drivers, even if it’s an engine or a transmission replacement. If your VIN shows an active recall that has not been repaired, it’s important to make an appointment at your nearest dealership.

Here’s how to make an appointment for a recall:

  1. Look up your VIN using the NHTSA tool.
  2. Find out the recall number/ID from the manufacturer.
  3. Call your nearest dealership’s service center with the ID number handy, and mention you’d like to schedule an appointment to repair the recall. The repair can only be done at a dealership, as they’re authorized by the manufacturer to conduct the repair free of cost using genuine parts.
  4. Try to make the appointment as soon as possible.
  5. Once the repair is completed, the dealership will update the information associated with the VIN to reflect it’s been completed.
