34-year-old Audra Lynn Claypoole of 31st Avenue Place NE in Hickory was arrested by the North Carolina Department of Insurance. She’s charged with felony insurance fraud. North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey announced Clayoole’s arrest Tuesday (October 22).
Special agents with the Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division accuse Claypoole of falsely filing a claim with Integon Indemnity Corp. She allegedly claimed that her foot was run over or struck by a man’s vehicle after she got into an argument with a passenger in the vehicle.
According to the arrest warrant, video surveillance showed that the vehicle never ran over or struck Ms. Claypoole. The offense occurred on July 27. Claypoole was arrested on October 16 and given a $10,000 secured bond. A District Court appearance is scheduled in Catawba County November 7.
