Every year, the festival of Diwali is celebrated on the new moon day of Kartik month. This festival not only lights up with the glow of lights but also with the pooja of Goddess Lakshmi. There is confusions in peoples minds about the date of Diwali this year. The date of Kartik Amavasya is falling on 31 October as well as on 01 November. In Hinduism, dates have a special significance and Udaya Tithi also has an important place.
It falls on the day of sunrise. This year, 31st October, Amavasya Tithi begins at 3:12 pm and ends at 06:16 pm in 01 November. So, most scholars and pundits suggest that this Diwali should be celebrated on 31st October of this year only.
On Diwali, the Lakshmi Puja is always performed on Amavasya Tithi and during Pradosh Kaal. Pradosh Kaal is the time period after sunset till late night. This day Pradosh Kaal will fall between 05:36 pm to 08:11 pm on October 31. During this time, Lakshmi Puja is considered more auspicious.
