Importance of Karwa Chauth: Karwa Chauth is one of the most important Indian festivals for the long life of their husbands and the happy married life. It falls on the Chaturthi Tithi of Krishna Paksha of Kartik month and is going to fall this year on 20 October 2024. On that day, women keep Nirjala fast from sunrise till moonrise, which is broken by doing Chandra Darshan.
This fast starts with Sargi, which is taken about two hours before the sun rise. Marital women take in Sargi to provide energy for a day-long fast. Sargi generally consists of various fruits, such as apples, bananas, grapes, dry fruits, halwa, sweets, milk, and curd.
This year, sunrise on October 20 will be at 06:25 am and thus women need to eat Sargi by 04:25 am. Eating in Brahma Muhurta brings blessings of the gods and goddesses, that is transmitted through positive energy.
Karva Chauth worship method needs to be followed. Women should vow for fasting with a bath in the morning, then read the story of Karva Chauth. Keep fruits, sweets, incense, lamps, and roli on the plate before puja in preparation. Fill the earthen pot with paddy and keep it as Dakshina.
This year, Karva Chauth will be in Bhadra’s shadow and it will create a lot of obstacles in auspicious works. Bhadra will remain effective from 06:24 am – 06:46 am, October 20. The ladies have to bathe before sunrise and take sargi while taking a fasting vow.
The attraction of this fast is the sighting of the moon. The time of moonrise will be on October 20, 2013 at 07:44 pm. Women see the face of their husbands by offering arghya to the moon, and then break the fast by drinking water from the hands of the husband.
According to Hindu belief, the fast of Karva Chauth is considered to be the most important fast among all the fasts related to Suhaag. It binds a husband and wife strongly together.
