Dussehra is one of the major festivals of Hinduism, and is marked every year on the Dashami date of Shukla Paksha of the Ashwin month. This day is also known as Vijayadashami, as it symbolizes the victory of good over evil and truth over untruth.
Another tradition followed is weapon worship on the day of Dussehra. According to religious texts, Lord Rama worshipped weapons before killing Ravana. The tradition of weapon worship started from then on this particular day. Shami and Aparajita trees are also worshipped on this day as it is held to be auspicious. Dussehra of the year will be celebrated on 12 October 2024. According to the Panchang, Dashami Tithi is going to be from 12 October 10:58 am and going to end on 13 October at 09:08 am. Along with this, special yogas are being formed on this day also that include Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga besides Shravan Nakshatra. This coincidence further enhances the importance of this day. The timings of today are auspicious, hence the time for worshiping will be between 2.02 pm and 2.48 pm. This timing for worshiping Lord Rama is very auspicious.
