Fortnite is down but it could save you money when it comes back online

FORTNITE is down, and it’s not the only issue going on in gaming today (October 1).

PlayStation has also gone down, and there are reports of problems with Fortnite on Android, due to a falling out with Google and Samsung.

However, the downtime that Fortnite players are experiencing may have nothing to do with these other two issues based on which platform you are playing on.

PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, and iOS players are all experiencing Fortnite outages, despite those platforms remaining stable.

If this is you, don’t panic. Many players are having issues because of scheduled downtime.

Fortnite started downtime for the v31.30 update on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, from 1am PT / 4am ET / 9am BST.

Maintenance will likely last for a few hours, ending around 3am PT / 6am ET / 11am BST.

It may take longer or shorter than this, depending on how smoothly the update goes.

The most interesting part of the update is that there will be a big focus on how it saves players’ energy.

Not only will it save on energy bills but it will also stop players from leaving their games on to grind XP.

As it stands, you get XP for every match you participate in, even if you don’t do anything during the match.

It’s meant to reward people who are not as skilled at the game, but it has led players to leave their game on for hours just so that they can gain XP.

Not only does this give those players an unfair advantage against others, but it also makes the game less fun for them.

If a large number of people playing the 100-person battle royale mode aren’t actually playing, then it is not as fun and chaotic to play.

The new update will put the game into sleep mode if someone hasn’t played for more than 15 minutes.

Not only will this save on energy bills, but it will prevent players from laying dormant on maps.

The update will also include skins for Fortnite’s annual Halloween event Fortnitemares.

This year we know that skins for the puppet from Saw and Leatherface will be joining the game, but there will likely be many more.
