ESPN First Take fans were not impressed with Cam Newton’s appearance on the show.
The former quarterback has joined Stephen A. Smith as a guest on the popular sports show.
But his debut appearance on the talk show had fans hoping it will be the last.
One said: “Who TF signed off on Cam Newton being on @FirstTake ?! Dude is terrible.”
Another added: “Cam Newton is an idiot awful analyst has no clue what he’s talking about.”
One fumed: “I didn’t think this show could get any worse but now with Cam Newton it’s all about his wardrobe and not sports.
“This show is just going downhill.”
But another argued: “Cam Newton is bringing common sense to First Take.”
Newton’s choice of outfit also sparked hilarious reactions with the former Carolina Panthers star wearing a top hat, open collar and floral jacket.
One said: “I don’t understand why @Camnewton_2026 is dressed like that.”
Another joked: “I see that Cam Newton kept the Batman villain wardrobe for First Take.”
One added: “Cam Newton on First Take looking like he’s been hanging with Alice in Wonderland.”
Newton, 35, is yet to officially announce NFL retirement but having not played since 2022 it looks as though a career on the TV could follow.
“I’ve always brought passion and energy into everything I do, and that won’t change at ESPN,” Newton said in a statement.
