SAN JOSE – A dozen people and two dogs were displaced by a fire Monday in San Jose, according to authorities.

The blaze broke out around 5:10 p.m. at a fourplex in the 1100 block of Mesa Drive, near Pioneer High School, the San Jose Fire Department said in a social media post.

All four of the units were left uninhabitable, with one sustaining “significant smoke and water damage” and the others fire damage, according to the fire department.

The American Red Cross provided assistance to at least seven adults, five children and a pair of dogs, the fire department said.
