Finland vs England preview

England get the chance to make amends against Finland in the Nations League on Sunday following their shock defeat to Greece earlier this week.

Interim boss Lee Carsley watched on as his side lost 2-1 to the 10/1 underdogs at Wembley Stadium.

Carsley experimented with an attacking line-up that included the likes of Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden, Cole Palmer, Anthony Gordon and Bukayo Saka.

However, the Three Lions could only muster two efforts on target and it was visitors Greece who had the ball in England’s net five times only to see three ruled out for offside.

Carsley also made the surprising admission that he would “hopefully” soon be back in charge of the U21 side.

With that said, England SHOULD return to winnings ways against a Finland side ranked 64th in FIFA’s official rankings.

The Thee Lions secured a straightforward 2-0 victory back at Wembley back in September with 74% possession, 22 goal attempts and a brace from talisman Harry Kane.

The Fins have also lost four of their last five matches in all competitions, including a 2-1 defeat to the Republic of Ireland on Thursday.

Finland vs England preview betting tips and predictions

Booked

None of the win markets look particularly appetising for this encounter given how strongly England are fancied to clinch three points.

So I’ve turned my attentions to the booking markets, and Rasmus Schuller in particular. The central midfielder, 33, will be in the thick of the action and isn’t shy of a booking having received four in 19 club appearances this season. He was also booked in the reverse fixture against England and has committed five fouls in his last two international outings.

Harry returns

If he’s back in the starting XI, Harry Kane looks a good candidate to repeat his performance in the reverse fixture.

Kane was absent from the Greece match through injury, but should return to spearhead the attack against Finland. He’s been in sparkling form having scored 10 goals in nine games for Bayern.

He also boasts 68 goals in 100 games when playing for England, takes penalties and netted a brace in September’s clash with Finland.
