Exact date to score up to 75% off ‘bundle’ deals – but expert urges shoppers to watch for ‘artificial’ sales

CONSUMERS can get up to 75% off electronics, home goods, and clothing on Black Friday but should be wary of fake sales during the holiday season, according to a personal shopping expert.

Savings expert Melissa Cid told The U.S. Sun that Black Friday sales were “totally worth it” and that items are often priced at historic lows.

Cid said shoppers should look out for “bundle” deals in November where major retailers, including Walmart, Target, Home Depot, and Costco, price items at historic lows and where consumers can snap good deals.

She advised it was a good time to stock up on winter clothes but also to buy all year essentials like socks, underwear and t-shirts.

“Black Friday is totally worth it. Black Friday is the best time of year to shop for clothes, shoes, electronics, home goods, video games and more up to 75% off,” Cid said.

“Electronics like cell phones, computers, gaming systems and more will have bundle deals which is when retailers throw in a freebie like a video game or headphones.”

Cookware like pots, pans and small appliances such as coffee makers and slow cookers are often up to 50% less.

DON’T BE FOOLED

Yet she also warned that shoppers should be wary before they buy.

“Some retailers will promote ‘artificial’ deals by raising the price before Black Friday in order to show a big discount when in fact the discount is quite small,” Cid told The U.S. Sun.

“Many people will fall for this ‘mark it up to mark it down’ marketing tactic.

This year’s official Black Friday date is November 29, the day after Thanksgiving.

However, the discount season is fast approaching kicking off with Amazon’s Prime Day sale on October 8 and 9.

According to Adobe analytics company, the 2023 Black Friday sales were record breaking despite high inflation with $222 billion spent on goods.

New research into retailers marketing efforts ahead of the holiday season conducted by global online marketplace company Fiverr found that e-commerce businesses have been ramping up their digital campaigns.

As part of a global over 2,500 consumers and over 2,500 small to medium business leaders, the company found that 80% of businesses were now offering discounts on their products, up from 55% last year.

It also found 52% of people had plans to start buying presents in October and November while 18% were hitting the summer sales.

Consumers are also being told to be wary of online marketing campaigns, with 57% of retailers surveyed revealed plans to target audiences through social media ads.

“Fiverr’s data shows that retail and e-commerce businesses are doubling down on social media campaigns to reach new markets and embracing AI to streamline their daily operations as more and more consumers are looking to buy the perfect gift as far ahead of the holiday season as possible,” Fiverr chief executive business officer Gali Arnon said.

Last minute shopping also remains a priority, with 18% of respondents focused on fast shipping times.

PLAN AHEAD

Personal finance expert Destiny Chapman told The U.S. Sun that shoppers should “start your holiday deal hunting now” to take advantage of early holiday sales before the rush.

“Planning your purchases in advance gives you the chance to compare prices across retailers,” Chapman said.

“Use price comparison tools to identify where you can get the best value”.

“Black Friday and Cyber Monday consistently offer some of the year’s biggest discounts…you can maximize your savings on purchases from major retailers.”

With Amazon’s prime day fast approaching, consumers may also be able to get deals at competing retailers such as Walmart and Target which launch their own sales.
