TOM Halliwell is in no doubt – England’s world beaters are better equipped to tackle another ‘mountain.’
The two biggest names in wheelchair rugby league go head-to-head in a repeat of 2022’s World Cup final, which the hosts won with a try from the captain who secured an MBE for his achievement.
Now halfway between tournaments, eyes are looking towards the defence in Australia in 2026.
Buit Leeds ace Halliwell feels coach Tom Coyd has more at his disposal now – with even his own place far from guaranteed.
He said: “I’m really excited by the squad and its potential is crazy.
“I still don’t think we’ve got the best out of this team but it’s better now than the World Cup already, with still more to come. The sky’s the limit.
“We’re a good side now but we can get even better. That’s the scariest thing.
“The World Cup is a target, 100 per cent. We put them all as mountains and every chance we get to be together, it’s a mountain to climb together – as is every game.

“Our last one is, of course, that World Cup. We treat every time we’re together as a mountain and we conquer one at a time until we get to the final, which is Everest.
“This Test is needed. Now it’s about creating a legacy for 2026 and it starts today.”
