EMMERDALE actress Jacqueline Pirie has shocked fans with a revelation of her real age.
With a quick google search showing her age as 49 years old, fans were shocked when she posted pictures of her 50th birthday celebrations.
She has since become a published author after writing three thriller novels[/caption]
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, the actress-turned-author replied to a message on her birthday post telling a fan: “You shouldn’t believe everything you read on the internet!”
The Scottish actress rose to fame as the brash and brainy Tina Dingle on the long-running ITV soap.
The daughter of Zak Dingle (Steve Halliwell)and his wife Nellie Dingle (Sandra Gough) she made her Emmerdale village debut in December 1994.
Two years later she moved to Coronation Street.
During her time on the hit soap, she became known for her role of factory worker Linda Sykes, most notably for her affair with Mike Baldwin (Johnny Briggs).
She left the soap in 2001, choosing life in Canada as an author, changing her surname to Chadwick when she married husband Simon in 2001.
While there’s been no official news the couple are no longer together, on her new X profile the author, mother of one and grandmother (as hashtagged on a recent post), describes herself as ‘Joyfully Single’.
Her age revelation comes during a dramatic time on Emmerdale, as The Dingles prepared to say goodbye to Zac Dingle this week.
Zak died off screen after the tragic real life death of actor Steve Halliwell in December last year at the age of 77.
The character’s death was confirmed in an emotional scene on Monday (October 14).
Fans were left in tears and unable to stop crying after the death of the soap legend.
One took to X to say: “Watching tonight’s @emmerdale oh my god so emotional I can’t stop crying. I didn’t know this was coming.. @ITVX #emmerdale”
Another said: “Jeff Hordley as Cain beautifully and sensitively done, breaking the sad news that Zak Dingle has passed. Rest in peace Steve Halliwell #emmerdale @emmerdale.”
Another fan took to X to tell Jacqueline directly, saying: “Your screen dad passed away tonight.”
Meanwhile Jacqueline has become known as an author after penning three successful thrillers: In The Still, Briefly Maiden, and Silent Sisters for Fahrenheit Press.
Each book revolves around Ali Dalglish, an ex-pat former forensic psychologist turned housewife, who finds herself mixed up in myriad murder cases.
