EDEN CONFIDENTIAL: Can Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch solve Emma Raducanu’s tennis woes?

You don’t have to be Sherlock Holmes to see Benedict Cumberbatch hiding behind Emma Raducanu in this photo.

The pair attended the VIP preview of the Frieze Art Fair in Regent’s Park, London.

Tennis fan Cumberbatch, 48, who played Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s detective in the BBC drama Sherlock, is a regular at the Royal Box at Wimbledon.

But it is not known whether he has given 21-year-old Raducanu advice on how to recapture the form that saw her win a Grand Slam at the 2021 US Open. That’s a three-pipe problem!

‘Conscious dining’ with Deepak Chopra proves to be a challenge Lisa Snowdon

A ‘conscious dinner’ with Meghan Markle’s ‘guru’ Deepak Chopra appears to have been a challenge for TV presenter Lisa Snowdon.

The event at Jugad restaurant, opened by food delivery service Foodhak in Camden, London, included a ten-minute meditation.

“It was so deliberate that we didn’t want to start eating,” Snowdon told me. “We listened to Deepak’s conversations and had to pay attention… the food teased me.”

Queen’s English Society is undergoing a rebrand

The Queen’s English Society has been renamed King’s English Society.

But the Facebook page has caused despair by omitting the apostrophe in the new name.

“It’s not because we don’t know how to use the possessive apostrophe,” says chairman Adrian Williams. ‘It’s the software. I hope that in the next two or three days you will see that all visible shame will be removed.”

Andy Warhol screen printing works to go under the hammer

Two of Andy Warhol’s screen prints will go under the hammer today at Phillips in London: a portrait of Princess Diana and a portrait of King Charles (as Prince of Wales).

Warhol produced four of each, but Diana’s is estimated to fetch slightly more than Charles’ – up to £1.8 million, up from £1.5 million.

These figures may fuel the theory, expressed in some quarters, that Charles felt outdone by his glamorous wife.

MP Ed made fun of air mile ‘freebie’

As Sir Keir Starmer and his Labor colleagues grab as many freebies as possible, former culture secretary Ed Vaizey recalls having his leg pulled for a flight to the Falklands.

“We were sitting at Brize Norton waiting for the RAF flight and a fellow MP, Nigel Evans, said, ‘Ed, if you take your British Airways Executive Clubcard to that desk they’ll put the air miles on,’” he reveals on the Travel Secrets podcast.

After being told at the counter that such benefits did not exist on an RAF flight, Lord Vaizey, 56, admits it was ‘one of the most humiliating moments of my life’.

Angela Rippon’s high kicks on Strictly Come Dancing at the age of 78 have landed her a role on Saga Cruises. She and her dance partner, Kai Widdrington, will be on board, dancing and teaching. I really hope that not too many passengers injure themselves trying to imitate Rippon’s extraordinary moves.
