Down boy! Moment dog casually descends 480ft Giza pyramid after paraglider spotted the hound barking at birds on top of the ancient landmark

A dog who made headlines this week when he was spotted hanging out near the top of the Great Pyramid of Giza was seen casually descending the monument

This is the astonishing moment a dog who made headlines this week when he was spotted hanging out near the top of the Great Pyramid of Giza casually wandered down the monument.

A video shows the pup racing along the side of the pyramid, which stands at a height of 145 metres, as he casually navigates the large chunks of limestone.

The incredible moment was captured on camera on Wednesday by a guide, Lauren Rathvon, who shared the footage online.

“I saw this dog climb down the Great Pyramid at Giza like it was nothing!” she said.

“It’s just jumping, jumping and jumping for them.”

It comes after stunning footage captured on Monday showed paraglider Alex Lang soaring above the Great Pyramid when he noticed movement at the top.

Zooming in on the small flat space at the top of the brick structure, viewers were stunned to see it was a dog wandering around.

After the surprising discovery atop the ancient monument, Lang said the dog had barked at the birds flying above him when he saw the animal.

It was not immediately clear how the little dog managed to reach the top of the giant pyramid, or how long he had been there.

It comes after paraglider Alex Lang filmed the structure as he flew above it before zooming in on an animal that had amazingly made its way to the top.

The Egyptian monument was built more than 4,500 years ago and is one of the top tourist hotspots in the world, named as one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

Today, the Great Pyramid is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is protected and preserved through ongoing restoration efforts.

Climbing the Great Pyramid of Giza, or any of Egypt’s 118 pyramids, is illegal.

For a chance to see what’s on top of the monument, many tourists often take paragliding trips past the structures, but they don’t often see canines there.
