As October 31st approaches, homeowners have begun the search for items to set the mood at Halloween parties and scary movie nights.

Dollar Tree’s budget-friendly Halloween Gnome Ornaments are just $1.25 for a pack of two.

Sold exclusively in store, the gnomes are available in an assortment of colors including black, orange, and purple.

They don’t light up but that may be a preference for shoppers who’ve had issues with the battery life on a popular alternative product.

Hundreds of Amazon customers have purchased LOLStar Halloween Lights in the past month.

The $17.99 pack includes three gnomes that light up to capture the attention of passersby when hung in the window.

According to the manufacturer, they can be “effortlessly installed on various surfaces” as suction cups and hooks are included.

The purple, white, and orange gnomes stay lit continuously for six hours a day followed by 18 hours of darkness.

Shoppers have given them a 4-star rating out of a possible 5 and penned glowing reviews.

“I put these up in my office window yesterday and I’ve already gotten so many compliments on these decorations!” one person said.

“Three of my coworkers even liked them so much that they bought some of their own!

“The suction is pretty good, I didn’t even need to wet the suction cup for 2 of them and once I wet the third, they’ve stayed up on their own, haven’t fallen or anything.

“The lights are bright enough to stand out, even when it’s sunny outside”

However, the reliance on AAA batteries has proven to be an issue for some customers.

“I love these but man they go through batteries!” one review reads.

“I used the timer function. Hung them the 1st week in October. I changed the batteries 3 times before Halloween.”

Another customer agreed that the battery life is an annoying feature.

“I like this product a lot! It’s such a neat idea, but it does consume a lot of batteries (battery drain),” they said.

“Plus you need 3-triple A batteries for each light. I think it works well and suction cup holds well.

“Just the battery drain is a downfall but still worth the purchase if that part doesn’t bother you too much!”
