Dealerships’ signs compete with each other in ‘war of words’ as customers ask if they’re ‘seriously fighting’


OUTRAGEOUS signs posted outside rival dealerships have sparked controversy and laughter in a tight-knit Vermont community.

The owners have launched an all-out duel of words with cutting signs that left some drivers wondering if they were actually feuding.

In Pittsford, about an hour and a half south of Montpelier, locals have started turning their heads with anticipation every time they drive in front of Pittsford Auto Sales.

For years, the dealership has posted a new witty sign to capture attention and make residents laugh.

“A lot of people stop by and tell us they like it or put posts on Facebook and enjoy the signs,” owner Meghan Gordon told CBS affiliate WCAX.

“A lot of people have been saying they look forward to it each week and so that’s been really good.”

However, recently, the lighthearted signs took a turn, as the dealership started to take aim at their nearby rival Brandon RV.

In one nasty remark, the business said, “Brandon RV – at least our inventory doesn’t sleep around.”

The RV shop didn’t hold back punches either and quickly responded with signs like “We can’t hear you your sign is too small.”

Most locals took to Facebook to laugh at the signs and discuss their favorites, but some worried the businesses were feuding.

Scott Lafave, the owner of Brandon RV, laughed about the war of words and described why he couldn’t help but hit back at Pittsford Auto Sales’ “cute little quote.”

“They’ve said some pretty clever things about RVs, and I love it,” he told the local station.


“I look forward to the challenge and responding, and the community loves it.”

Lafave has a wall outside his business with pictures capturing some of his favorite signs.

Gordon cleared up any misconceptions about the rivalry and hoped that onlookers could just smile at the biting blows.

“People ask us if we’re seriously fighting, and that’s not the case at all,” she said.

“We’re having a good time with it and we text back and forth and just kind of poking fun at each other.”

They’ve said some pretty clever things about RVs, and I love it. I look forward to the challenge.

On Facebook, locals said they loved keeping tabs on the “sign war.”

“Small towns are awesome,” one person wrote.

Another said, “It’s hilarious, and the best part is everyone is laughing about it.”

Another dealership went viral for poking fun at the Tesla Cybertruck’s unique design and mom-approved features.

Plus, one driver was able to get $7,000 off her car price after she made a quick Google search and confronted a salesman.
