DA accuses ActionSA of backstabbing as Cilliers Brink is removed as Tshwane mayor

The Democratic Alliance (DA) has accused ActionSA of sinking a functional government, and in doing so traded stability for chaos after Cilliers Brink was ousted as Tshwane mayor.

This comes as ActionSA which withdrew from the DA-led multi-party coalition in Tshwane supported the motion against Brink which was tabled by the African National Congress (ANC).

DA WEIGHS IN ON CILLIERS BRINK’S OUSTING AS TSHWANE MAYOR

DA Gauteng leader Solly Msimanga said ActionSA has disrupted the progress and unity that the Tshwane Multiparty Coalition government worked tirelessly to build.

He said the party’s backstabbing played right into the hands of the ANC’s power hunger, emphasising that the ANC has no interest in good governance in Tshwane but wants to pillage and steal from a stabilised government.

“This will destabilise Tshwane, and ActionSA is duly complicit in this power grab. The doomsday coalition has taken over Tshwane and will go the same route as Joburg and Ekurhuleni.

“A future of urban decay and service delivery failure lies ahead for the good citizens of Tshwane. Once parties get a scent of what they perceive to be power, they evidently sacrifice constitutional principles for the fulfillment of misplaced personal vendettas,” Msimanga, a former Tshwane mayor, said.

ANC WELCOMES OUSTING

On the other hand, the ANC in Gauteng has welcomed Brink’s removal and said it marks the beginning of the re-strengthening of the City of Tshwane and Gauteng broadly.

“It is also an early gift to the people of Tshwane , who deserve a leadership that is intentional about bestowing the greatest gift to them – a more human face,” ANC secretary in Thembinkosi Nciza said.

Nciza said the DA-led multiparty government in the capital city is a perfect reflection of how the DA leads across the province.

“The maladministration and poor governance that was experienced in Tshwane was being experienced in the City of Ekurhuleni and the City of Johannesburg, where instability and racialism was the order of the day. This is how the DA governs – not the false image it has presented to the world,” Nciza added.

DO YOU THINK THE NEW TSHWANE MAYOR WOULD COME FROM THE ANC OR ACTIONSA?
