CSPD: Sexually violent predator released on parole

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) notified the community on Thursday, Sept. 26, that a Sexually Violent Predator (SVP) has been released on parole and has moved to a Colorado Springs address.

Gabriel Samuel Salazar’s past behavior has led him to be labeled an SVP by the court. He is registered at 2945 E Las Vegas Street in Colorado Springs.

Salazar’s criminal history reveals he was convicted of attempted sexual assault on a child in Pueblo County in 2021, as well as unlawful distribution, manufacturing, dispensing, or sale of a controlled substance in Denver County in 2023 and third-degree assault in Las Animas County in 2023.

He is described as a 40-year-old Hispanic man, who stands at 5’7” stand and weighs 260 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.

“The Colorado Springs Police Department takes his presence in our community very seriously and is intent on ensuring he conducts himself in a lawful manner and that our citizens remain safe and aware,” wrote CSPD in a statement.

Salazar is one of 21 SVPs registered with CSPD. Anyone with any questions can contact Nancy Gifford at (719)-444-7672.
