A MAJOR motorway has been closed after a collision resulting in a car catching fire has sparked rush-hour chaos for thousands.
THE M1 southbound has been closed between J12 (Toddington) and J11A (Chalton).

Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue are currently on the scene with diversion routes in operation.
National Highways have stated that traffic is currently being held northbound for Air Ambulance.
National Highways Traffic Officers are also on scene assisting with traffic management.
Diversion routes are in place with road users advised to follow the hollow circle diversion symbol on road signs.
