Colorado Springs may break the same heat record… three days later

(SOUTHERN COLORADO) — Temperatures have been abnormally warm so far this fall. We’re only a couple of weeks into the season and we’ve already broken numerous heat records. Daily records are being broken left and right while precipitation has been practically non-existent.

One of the more significant records Colorado Springs broke recently was the warmest high temperature ever recorded in the month of October. The Springs area reached 88 degrees on Wednesday, Oct. 2 beating the old record of 87.

Now, just three days later, that record may be broken again.

The FOX21 storm team is currently forecasting a high of 87 degrees for this Saturday, Oct. 5, which would put the area just shy of the record set on Wednesday. Again, this record is for the all-time warmest high temperature for the month of October. Data goes back 130 years.

Pueblo may also break the very same record of warmest high temperature in October. Its record was tied on Wednesday instead of broken. This Saturday, however, they will have a chance to get there once again as extremely warm temperatures hang around the region.

If nothing else, both Pueblo and Colorado Springs will likely break their daily record for Oct. 5. Forecasted highs for the lower elevations will generally be in the upper 80s and lower 90s.

Looking ahead, next week may feature a few more ups and downs with less record-breaking heat. The region will still be significantly above average for this time of year with sunshine expected for quite some time.
