Chrysler reintroduces beloved model after hiatus for ‘fleet duty’ – but it won’t be as well-equipped as its counterpart

CHRYSLER is bringing back one of its most popular models after a hiatus for “fleet duty”.

The “budget-friendly” MPV is set to return within months, with fans able to pre-order theirs now.

The giant automaker has announced that the Voyager minivan will make a comeback for 2025.

First debuted in 1988, the model has been a firm favourite among American families for decades.

However, since 2022 it has been designated as “fleet only”, meaning it was only available for purchase or leasing by businesses.

In those two years, it was still a common sight on US roads but usually with a minicab driver at the wheel rather than mom or dad.

Now, though, the manufacturer has confirmed that the Voyager once again be offered to the general public.

The new version will slot into Chrysler’s minivan range at the bottom end.

It is expected that the firm will recommend a pretty modest price tag to dealers, too, with the Voyager set to start from $39,995.

That would put it third on the list of cheapest minivans based on 2024 prices, behind only the Kia Carnival and Toyota Sienna.

The car it would unseat from that rank is actually its own sibling, the Pacifica, which starts at $41,340.

That model also tops Chrysler’s lineup in the segment in its $54,430 Pinnacle spec.

As the price difference would suggest, though, the Voyager won’t be as well-equipped as its pricier counterparts.

But you still get a 10″ Uconnect touchscreen, 7″ instrument cluster, a third row of “Stow-n-Go” seating with memory cushion and adaptive cruise control as standard.

Nifty optional extras include hands-free Bluetooth and phone connectivity, heated steering wheel, Apple CarPlay and electronic sliding doors.

And upgrading to the Voyager LX spec gives you a choice of three vibrant paint jobs – Bright White, Red Hot and Diamond Black.

Apple CarPlay vs Android Auto

Both are phone mirroring apps for both operating systems that allow drivers to access contacts, make calls, and use navigation apps.

Many manufacturers allow access to both apps wirelessly, and all infotainment systems mirror your phone with a USB connection.

The idea behind phone mirroring apps designed for in-car use is to reduce distracted driving by making essential apps easier to access.

Key features of both apps are:

  • Audiobook app access
  • Podcast app access
  • Navigational access (Google or Apple maps, which have your personal information already implemented, like your home address, work address, recent searches, and more).
  • Phone apps, with contacts, favorites, recent calls, and more preprogrammed.
  • Messaging apps that can read text messages aloud and transcribe a response through the vehicle’s microphone.
  • Music apps like Spotify, Pandora, Apple Music (iTunes), or others with your personal information, playlists, recent searches, and preferences built in.
  • Calendar events, your car can alert you to an upcoming event or conference.
  • Access to Google Assistant or Siri with vocal cues.

The order book is open now, with the Voyager set to hit dealerships in the fourth quarter of 2025.

Chris Feuell, CEO of Chrysler for parent company Stellantis, said: “We’ve added many comfort, technology-focused and safety features as standard equipment on Chrysler Voyager, including standard Stow ‘n Go seating, making the Voyager an attractive, value-packed option within the Chrysler family of minivans.

It comes after a major carmaker recalled 50,000 of its vehicles over a safety issue that could increase the chance of a crash.
