Intelligent chimp Jeje famous for using tools kills human baby ‘using jungle instruments’ after snatching it from mother

HIGHLY intelligent chimp Jeje who’s famed for using tools has brutally killed a human baby – sparking uproar among locals.

The beast ripped the baby girl from her mother’s back before taking her into the forest to butcher her.

Experts believe the apes are no longer scared of humans[/caption]

Grieving mum Seny Zogba was working in a cassava field in Bossou, Guinea, when Jeje snatched her eight-month-old baby named Yoh Hélène.

The baby girl’s body was found 3km from the Nimba Mountains Nature Reserve and was horrifically mutilated.

Witnesses claim she had been disembowelled – perhaps with the help of Jeje’s jungle tools.

Chief researcher Gen Yamakoshi told The Times that the monstrous killing was because the apes “no longer fear humans.”

He also said it wasn’t clear whether this attack or previous ones are for food or “excitement”.

The researcher said: “It is similar behaviour to how chimps treat one another.

“If they are excited they cannot control their behaviour.”

The baby’s death has caused uproar amongst communities who have targeted their anger at the experts studying the animals.

Their fury is also partly due to scientists bringing the eight-month-old baby’s corpse to their Bossou Environment Research institute.

Angered locals ransacked the institutes building, destroying and settling alight expensive equipment including drones, computers and more than 200 documents, the centre’s manager claims.

Local Joseph Doré who took part in the attack said: “It’s the way she was killed, that’s what angered the population.”

But ecologist Alidjiou Sylla believes the limited supply of food in the reserve was pushing the animals to leave protected areas more frequently which, in turn, increase the likelihood of attacks.

Youth leader Moussa Koya also observed that while “it was not their will” to be violent, “it has become the habit of the chimpanzees.”

There are a mere seven chimps left in Guinea’s Bossou forest which forms part of Nimba Mountains Nature Reserved, close to the subsistence farming communities of the Nzerekore Region.

In 2022 the oldest chimp of the tribe, Fana, died aged 71 and left behind two sons – Foaf and Fanwa.

The little community of apes use stone hammers and anvils to open nuts which is believed to be the most sophisticated act ever observed of humanity’s genetically closest relative.

And while the apes live in the wild, they still share territory and resources with locals who protect them and believe them to be reincarnated ancestors.

But after a series of attacks, Bossou elder Michael Gamada Koïba said locals are now unsure on “what kind of chimpanzees they are”.

Up until 2003, the Bossou chimps had stood at around 21 animals, but lost seven to the flu that year.

It had also negatively been affected by human activities in the area.

Traditionally locals use slash-and-burn agriculture which sees people cultivate land until they become depleted, then clear forests to create new lands in a cycle.

And despite preserving a 320-hectare block of forest around Bossou, surrounding deforestation has cut it off from the remaining Mount Nimba Strict Nature Reserve – where numerous chimp communities reside.

The reserve is UNESCO World Heritage-listed and straddles Guinea’s bordrs with Liberia and Ivory Coast.

The Nimba Mountains also happen to be home to one of Guinea’s largest iron ore reserves which has sparked concern among environmentalists on the impact of mining on chimps.

He wrote: “Couldn’t be more proud of you… @vickypattison.

“For 10 years you have been one of my best friends and biggest supporters.

“I am so blessed and lucky to call you a friend. You are a wonderful person and have always been there for me, my life is better with you in it.

“This is your day and you deserve it more than anyone. Congratulations.”

But some of his followers were left concerned that he’d post a photo of Vicky in her wedding gown before she could do it herself.

One commented: “Did you just post her dress first?!!! beautiful by the way!”

Someone else added: “I don’t follower her but 1st thing I did was check her page to see if she had posted. She hadn’t.”

A third agreed: “Im sure he knows what he’s doing & got permission, maybe he was just over excited for her.”

Another said: “Peteeeeee have you just posted her dress before her. she might want you to delete this bubs x.”

Vicky and Ercan, who got engaged in 2022, first said “I do” last month inside Marylebone Town Hall.

The Daily Mail previously reported the newlyweds would fly to Puglia for another ceremony which will be filmed for Vicky’s brand new Channel 4 show, Destination Wedding.

Pete also uploaded a video from his trip abroad, putting on a suave display in his getup while strolling down some steps.

While the reality star took some time out from his Strictly training, he seems to be firmly entrenched in the show bubble – and fans are even convinced he has fallen for his pro partner Jowita Przystal.

The pair were snapped looking like they couldn’t keep their hands off each other as they walked the heavily-inked hunk’s dogs.

And Jowita’s appearance on Pete’s podcast, Staying Relevant, also set tongues wagging.

The pair appeared to chat to Pete’s co-host, Sam Thompson. and fans were quick to comment on how the Towie star looked at the dance champ.

One commented: “He’s in luvvv they so suit each other x.”

Another wrote: “Are they a couple then.”

A third penned: “Pete has a Strictly curse.”

MAFS UK star rushed to hospital after suffering painful injury days before filming new TV show

MARRIED At First Sight UK star Jay Howard has revealed she was rushed to hospital just days before filming a brand new TV show.

The E4 reality TV bride took to Instagram to confirm she had been admitted to Accrington Victoria Hospital after suffering a painful injury.

It comes just days before she is set to film a brand new TV show[/caption]

Jay confessed she had dislocated her knee as she shared a close-up side-by-side shot of her two legs which showed off the huge swelling surrounding her knee.

In another shot, taken after her hospital stay, Jay could be seen with her knee fully strapped up atop a bright pink tracksuit as she spoke out on her injury mishap.

Taking to Instagram, the TV star said: “Only I would DISLOCATE my bloody knee a few days before filming starts for my next job.

“In pain, strapped up and semi-mobile, but not letting it get in the way! If you see me, I may be hobbling around for the foreseeable…

“Thank you to the staff at Accrington Victoria Hospital for being angels and looking after me… I’ll be back on both feet properly in no time!!”

Jay’s fans and celebrity pals were quick to send their well-wishes to the star as they wished her a speedy recovery ahead of her next filming project.

Former Coronation Street actress Katie McGlynn said: “Aw sending love, get well soon xx.”

Fellow MAFS star Paul Liba added: “Get better soon you !!! X”

One of Jay’s fans added: “Oh no! Sending love of love to you and a speedy recovery.”

As another added: “Oh nooooo Jay, I hope you’re on the mend real quick xx.”

Jay did not elaborate on what her next filming project was as she kept her 208,000 followers guessing as to what show she could be appearing on next.

The star rose to fame on last year’s edition of the reality TV show where she was paired up with Luke Worley.

Despite aiming to make it work, explosive rows and differences of opinion led to the pair splitting soon after the show.

Jay then made a solo appearance on the show’s reunion to discuss their relationship, as Luke was banned from attending.

The Lancashire native confirmed that the pair had split, telling her co-stars: “He literally basically just said, like, we are better off just being friends.

“I asked him what he wanted, but he couldn’t answer the question.”

Mafs couples that have stood the test of time

Loved-up Tayah Victoria and Adam Aveling of series six fame had the first Mafs baby.

The pair couldn’t keep their hands off each other on the programme and quickly found their feet in the outside world, moving into Adam’s Doncaster home.

Just 18 months after meeting, the couple welcomed their daughter Beau.

Season five couple Michelle Walder and Owen Jenkins also managed to make their marriage work away from the cameras and had their first child in December.

Teacher Michelle, 29, has no regrets about taking part in the experiment. She told us: “I just feel very lucky and thankful that it has worked out – and excited for everything to come.”

Michelle and Owen were both sick of dating apps when they applied in 2019.

Owen recalled: “I had been out for some drinks with a friend after work.

“While he was out for a cigarette I was scrolling on Instagram waiting for him to come back in.

“The MAFS advert was the last thing I saw, and I joked, ‘Wouldn’t it be funny if I signed up?’

“A few beers later when I was back at home I sent in the application, and the rest is history.”

Another couple to make Mafs UK history is Zoe Clifton and Jenna Robinson.

Despite a slight rocky start, where they clashed over Jenna’s vegan lifestyle, the show’s first same sex pairing are still going strong.

They even have a successful podcast together called Life With a Pod.

Jenna shed light on being involved in the show earlier this year when she told us: “We’re not legally married, and I never felt like we were. I definitely feel the process makes you take the relationship a lot more seriously and having the help of the experts… if you can survive that process it sets a firm foundation for a long-lasting relationship.”

Man Utd star was thinking ‘dude, leave me alone’ when Ten Hag was speaking to him, claims Premier League legend

PREMIER LEAGUE legend Ruud Gullit reckons a Manchester United star was wishing to be “left alone” as Erik ten Hag talked to him.

The incident occurred during last night’s Europa League clash against FC Twente.

United took the lead through Christian Eriksen in the 35th minute.

But the Dane turned from hero to villain as his mistake allowed Twente to net a 68th minute equaliser.

Ten Hag’s Red Devils could not find a way through to goal again.

And they were jeered off the pitch by irate home supporters, who have seen United draw twice since thrashing Barnsley 7-0 in the Carabao Cup.

One star who was left out of the starting XI last night was Argentina international Garnacho.

The winger is regarded as one of football’s most exciting youngsters.

And Ten Hag eventually brought him off the bench just one minute before Twente’s equaliser.

As Garnacho prepared for the pitch, his Dutch boss leaned over before giving him tactical instructions.

But Premier League icon Ruud Gullit reckoned Garnacho would rather have been left alone.

Talking on Ziggo Sport, the former Chelsea star felt Ten Hag was being more of a hindrance than a help based on Garnacho’s body language.

And Gullit believed the forward was thinking: “Leave me alone, man!”

He said: “Ten Hag wanted to have a meeting with Garnacho, but he didn’t feel like it at all.

“Garnacho was preparing to come on and Ten Hag kept talking to him.

“You can just see it when a player thinks: ‘Dude, leave me alone, man!’

On United’s performance, Gullit added: “As a coach, you also see things happening that just don’t go well.

“I also saw Ruud van Nistelrooy constantly in the picture. He wasn’t happy.

“Even Casemiro got involved. You could see that things just weren’t going well.

“Am I shocked by the football? No, because I see this every week. I think Twente played sensibly.

“You could see that they gained a bit more confidence after a cautious start to the match.

“At some point you have to give them a little test and they did that well.”

Man Utd player ratings vs FC Twente

MANCHESTER UNITED'S Europa League campaign got off to a less than ideal start with a miserable 1-1 draw against FC Twente at Old Trafford.

That result dealt a big blow to their chances of finishing in the top eight and avoiding two extra fixtures.

See how the players rated on an underwhelming night at Old Trafford.

Andre Onana – 6

Good save to push a free-kick from Sem Steijn to safety but might be disappointed to be beaten at the near post for Twente’s goal.

Diogo Dalot – 6

Early mistake near the corner flag could have been costly but he caused problems at the other end in build up to Christian Eriksen goal.

Harry Maguire – 6

Missed his tackle to put United on the back foot for the equaliser but almost won it late on with a header cleared off the line.

Lisandro Martinez – 7

Made several important clearances but one wild challenge on edge of his box could have proven costly.

Noussair Mazraoui – 6

New boy looks solid. Vital early tackle and another one later to stop Twente going in front.

Christian Eriksen – 7

Fourth successive start – and the veteran still looked sprightly. What a strike to give United the lead but then spoiled it with mistake for equaliser.

Manuel Ugarte – 6

A few good tackles from the new boy but might be disappointed not to clear his lines as Twente broke away for equaliser.

Marcus Rashford – 8

Much improved display in front of watching England interim boss Lee Carsley. Full of energy, a few tricks and a couple of dangerous crosses. More like his old self.

Bruno Fernandes – 6

Skipper had a hand in the opening goal and was so close to winning it with curler from the edge of the box.

Amad Diallo – 6

His pace was too much to handle for the visitors at times but not much of an end product this time and made way for Alejandro Garnacho midway through the second half.

Joshua Zirkzee – 5

A few good moments and forced a flying save from the visitors’ keeper after nice link up with Diogo Dalot – but then hooked for the fit-again Rasmus Hojlund.

Valley of the Kings Pharaoh who changed course of history comes ‘back to life’ with face seen for first time in 3,500yrs

THE face of the Valley of the Kings Pharaoh who rewrote history can be seen for the first time in 3,500 years.

The famous Amenhotep I ushered in a new age of peace and prosperity for ancient Egypt – and was worshipped as a god for his achievements.

The wrapped mummy of Amenhotep I[/caption]

Amenhotep I reigned in the 16th century BC and is credited with initiating the “heyday” of the New Kingdom, when Egypt‘s power and wealth peaked.

He solidified the borders of the nascent realm and may have started the Valley of the Kings, while science and art flourished under his rule.

He was even deified upon his death, being worshipped as a god for centuries after his reign, and consulted as an oracle.

Now his living face can be seen for the first time in more than 3,500 years, after scientists used his skull to rebuild his likeness.

Cicero Moraes, the Brazilian graphics expert behind the recreation, said the god depicted in statues wasn’t a perfect match for the living pharaoh.

He said: “Many mummies, such as Amenhotep I, show a retrognathism or overbite, and this is generally not reflected in a compatible way in the statues.

“In general terms, the statues of Amenhotep I are compatible in the nose region, but more gracile in the glabella region and more projected in the chin region.”

To complete the recreation, Mr Moraes and his team blended faces made using various methods.

One involved distributing soft tissue thickness markers across the pharaoh’s skull, guided by CT scan data from living donors, to reveal the likely shape of his face.

Another was a technique called anatomical deformation, in which a digital recreation of a donor’s head was adjusted until the skull matched the pharaoh’s.

Mr Moraes said: “By crossing the data from all the projections, we generated the final bust and complemented the structure with historical costume.

“We generated three groups of images: one objective, in greyscale, with the eyes closed and hairless.

“Another was in colour, with hair and eyes open, and there was a more artistic one, with all the elements and the costume.”

The result was a “dignified” face, he said.

For the recreation, a virtual copy of the pharaoh’s skull was built.

This was made using data from a 2021 study by Egyptologists Sahar Saleem and Zahi Hawass, in which Amenhotep’s mummy was “virtually unwrapped” via CT scanning.

Cicero’s co-author, archaeologist Michael Habicht of Flinders University in Australia, described some of the details gleaned from this study.

He said: “The 2021 study did not indicate a cause of death, but stipulated his age at death as approximately 35 years.

“It showed that he would have been 1.68m tall, that his teeth were in good condition, and that his hair was coiled.

“He also suffered a series of postmortem injuries, probably inflicted by tomb robbers or by the embalmers who re-wrapped the mummy later.”

It was a short life, but one that echoed through the centuries.

Dr Habicht continued: “Under the peaceful rule of Amenhotep I, the rise of Egypt was initiated and the heyday of the New Kingdom began.”

Mr Moraes paid tribute to the Egyptologists whose work paved the way for his team’s.

He said: “I feel very honoured, as always.

“This work was not done just by us, but by all those who studied and study ancient Egypt seriously, always sharing information.”

Mr Moraes, Dr Habicht, and their co-author, Elena Varotto of the FAPAB Research Center in Italy, plan to publish their study in a scientific journal.

What is the Valley of the Kings

VALLEY of the Kings is a famous Egyptian archaeological site that's home to the tombs of some of the most important pharaohs in ancient history.

It is a long narrow defile west of the Nile River in Upper Egypt.

The site is the burial place of almost all kings of the 18th, 19th and 20th dynasties which took place between 1539 to 1075 BCE.

Some famous pharaoh names include Thutmose I and Ramses X.

In 1979, the Valley of the Kings became a World Heritage Site due to the royal burials of the pharaohs, their families and their invaluable possessions.

It contains at least 63 tombs.

The pharaohs in ancient Egypt were both the religious leader and the head of state.

“Pharaoh” means “Great House,” in reference to the palace where the pharaoh resided.

The early rulers were referred to as kings but over time the name “pharaoh” stuck, according to the National Geographic.

Pharaohs were seen as the divine intermediary between the gods and Egyptians.

It was there job to maintain religious harmony as well as make laws and oversee all of Egypt.

Many also waged war to expand the Egyptian empire.

When pharaohs died they were entombed and surrounded by riches which it was thought they could use in the afterlife.

Over the years archaeologists and explorers have discovered their resting places and unearthed a wealth of knowledge about life in ancient Egypt
