Shock pic shows Russian prisoner left SKEWERED on huge wooden stake that pierced through his torso after freak accident

SHOCKING images show a Russian prisoner who was left skewered on a huge wooden stake when it pierced through his torso in a freak accident.

The inmate – seen strapped to the hospital bed – had the ginormous beam removed and miraculously survived, says reports.

The thick beam of wood bayoneted the prisoner, 34, as he operated a timber machine in a jail workhouse in a Nizhny Novgorod penal colony.

The giant stake spun loose and spiked his body from his left midriff to his right chest.

Horrific images show the ginormous piece of wood diagonally through the man.

The prisoner also appears to be strapped down to the bed at the top of his thighs and both hands.

He was given immediate first aid at Penal Colony 14.

The prisoner, named Nikolai Z,  is in a “serious condition” and fighting for his life in hospital following the nightmare accident.

But despite “damage to his internal organs”, he is reportedly “stable”.

A criminal investigation is underway as to how the “accident” happened and whether safety rules were broken, BAZA reports.

It comes soon after a man stabbed himself to death while trying to separate two frozen burgers with a knife, an inquest heard.

Barry Griffiths, 57, was killed when he plunged the blade into his stomach in a freak accident.

He was discovered several days later by police, who were baffled by the trail of blood around his kitchen and bedroom.

Officers then established the frozen burgers were behind the tragedy when they noticed them on a kitchen counter.

The knife and a tea towel were also found nearby and the bottom drawer of the freezer had been left open.

An inquest was told Barry died from a stab wound at his home in Powys, Wales.

The court heard he lived alone in supported living accommodation and was a “very private man”.

Police arrived at his home in July last year amid concerns Barry hadn’t been seen for more than week.

They discovered him dead on his bed with blood in the hallway, bathroom and bedroom.

The court heard there was no sign of a disturbance and his wallet, computer and phone were not missing.

Detective Sergeant Stephen Vaughan said he was satisfied that Barry’s death was not a suicide but “more of an unexplained death”.

There was also no indication he had been assaulted, the inquest heard.

Area coroner Patricia Morgan concluded Barry, who had restricted use of one arm following a stroke, most likely died from an accident while preparing frozen food for cooking.

She told the inquest: “I appreciate the evidence is difficult to hear and traumatic.

“Thank you for your patience while the investigation was ongoing. I express my condolences at this difficult time.”

Rare 2p coin with ‘hard to spot’ error sells for £700 at auction – do you have one in your change?

A SUPER rare 2p coin has sold at auction for £700 – 350 times its face value.

The “hard to spot” error piece was snapped up at the auction held by RWB, based in Wiltshire, yesterday.

An ultra-rare 2p piece has sold at auction for a whopping £700

The error piece comes with the incorrect spelling on the reverse side
BRITANNIA COIN COMPANY

The 2p piece came as part of a set released in 1983 with the wrong writing on the tails side.

Two pence coins from 1971 from 1981 were struck with wording that said “New Pence”.

The wording was changed in 1981 and all new 2p pieces had the writing “Two Pence” printed on the tails side.

However, a small number of the newly-struck coins were wrongly printed with the old phrasing on the back instead.

Experts have said the subtle error was likely produced when an old die was used to strike the coin.

The coin sold by RWB Auctions yesterday is one of a number found in coin sets that were released in 1983 featuring seven other pieces.

Thousands of the “Great British Coin Collection” sets were released but only a small number feature the rare 2p coin.

A spokesperson for RWB Auctions said: “Great British Coin Collection sets with the normal 1983 2p are worth £5 to £10, but sets with the rare error 2p have been known to sell for £1,000 or more.

They added: “The way coins are manufactured today means that very few error coins enter circulation.

“Serious collectors seek out these mistakes because they are generally very rare.

“We do not know exactly how many of these sets contain the 1983 error 2p, but they are certainly scarce and valuable.”

“It is worth checking old coin collections for this set, particularly if you were born in 1983.”

How to spot if your coin is rare

The most valuable and rare coins are usually the ones with low mintage numbers or an error.

A mintage number relates to how many of a certain coin were made, so the lower the number, the rarer and, generally, the more valuable a coin is.

Examples of some low mintage coins include The Single Market 50p which has been known to sell for £44 and the Kew Gardens 50p which has fetched £245 previously.

Meanwhile, error coins are pieces that were incorrectly struck during the manufacturing process.

The ultra-rare “lines over face” 50p error coin has been known to sell for £1,500 at auction.

Other examples include a rare 25p coin which looks like a 20p coin that has sold for £1,700.

How to sell a rare coin

There are three ways you can sell rare coins – on eBayFacebook, or in an auction.

If you’re selling on Facebook, there are risks attached.

Some sellers have previously been targeted by scammers who say they want to buy a rare note or coin and ask for money up front to pay for a courier to pick it up.

But the courier is never actually sent and you’re left out of pocket.

Rather than doing this, it’s always best to meet a Facebook seller in person when buying or selling a rare note or coin.

Ensure it’s a public meeting spot that’s in a well-lit area and if you can, avoid using payment links.

Next, you can sell at auction, which is generally the safest option.

You can organise this with The Royal Mint’s Collectors Service.

It has a team of experts who can help you authenticate and value your coin.

You can get in touch via email and a member of the valuation team will get back to you.

You will be charged for the service though – the cost varies depending on the size of your collection.

You can also sell rare coins on eBay.

But always bear in mind, you will only make what the buyer is willing to pay at that time.

ou can search for the same note or coin as you have to see how much the same one has sold for on the website previously.

This can help give you an indication of how much you should sell it for.

She now has little girl Louise to add to her brood[/caption]

Mandy Moore played matriarch Rebecca Pearson in the hit series which wrapped after season six.

Gutted fans admitted they were left “sobbing” at the final episode – yet despite her character’s fate – off-screen the Candy songstress has much happier news.

She delighted fans with an image showing her in a hospital bed with her new baby in her arms.

The tot was cuddled up in a white blanket while Mandy looked happy and healthy.

In her excited caption she wrote: “Lou is here!

“Louise Everett Goldsmith arrived happy, healthy, expeditiously and right in time for Virgo season.

“She is our absolute dream girl and her big brothers are already as obsessed with her as we are.

“Endlessly grateful for our family of 5 (and our very own big three) and soaking in every moment of this special time.”

Mandy shares her daughter – and two sons – with husband Taylor Goldsmith.

Prior to Louise’s arrival, they were already parents to two boys, Gus and Ozzie.

On May 31, 2024, Mandy announced she and Taylor were expecting a baby girl.

While referencing the abovementioned NBC series, she said: “Sometimes life imitates art.

“The third in our own Big Three coming soon. Can’t wait for these boys to have a baby sister.”

While discussing her life as a mother, Mandy told Parents Magazine: “Not to sound cheesy, but all the clichés are true. Life is Technicolor now.

“It just makes sense in a way that it didn’t before. I had no idea that this degree of love existed in the world.

“I have a new colour to bring to the table that I didn’t have before.

“It’s going to impact the choices I make when it comes to work. Everything is different now.”

Mandy previously told the TODAY show how her spouse said she was “mad” for wanting to expand their brood.

WRAPPED UP

Viewers were left gutted after This Is Us wrapped in May 2022.

Yet it appears there won’t be a re-boot.

This Is Us show creator Dan Fogelman previously spoke to Newsweek about the ending of the show at a Television Critics Association event.

He shared with the outlet that the reason why the show ending after six seasons is that he planned it this way.

“It’s not because we don’t have any more story to tell. It’s because we exactly planned it to go this way.

“And so we’re on a five‑year path, and to suddenly pivot and add more because we don’t want it to end, it wouldn’t be quite responsible to the show and what we have planned, and it would start becoming something else,” Dan said.

As of now, there are no plans for a This Is Us spin-off.

The show’s creator Dan told TVLine he’s “pretty set on this being it” and he feels strongly that the stories can be “put to bed now.”
