Man Utd legend Roy Keane blasts ‘dinosaurs’ Arsenal as ‘small team with small mentality’ in furious rant at Ian Wright

ROY KEANE furiously labelled Arsenal a “small club with a small mentality” as he slammed their tactics in the 2-2 draw with Manchester City.

Mikel Arteta‘s men led 2-1 when they were reduced to 10 men at the end of the first half at the Etihad on Sunday as Leandro Trossard received a second yellow card for kicking the ball away.

Arsenal spent almost all of the second half in their own box

After the break, the Gunners then retreated into their own half and had just 12.5 per cent of the ball.

Jurrien Timber and Kai Havertz also failed to complete a single pass in the match, making them the first outfield players since records began to play 89 minutes of a Premier League match and not register a successful pass.

Ultimately, Arsenal came up short with their low block as John Stones salvaged a point for the champions deep into stoppage time.

And Manchester United icon Keane, 53, was furious with how the North London side played as he vented at Gunners legend Ian Wright.

Speaking on Stick to Football, brought to you by SkyBet, he said: “If Tony Pulis, Sam Allardyce, Steve Bruce or Neil Warnock set up a team like that for the second half, they are ‘dinosaurs’. When Arsenal do it, it’s called ‘brilliant’, it’s ‘concentration levels’.

“When they won the ball back, which they did every now and again, try and look after it and try and get up the pitch.

“There was an incident when [Ben] White just kicked it out of play, [Declan] Rice a couple of times, just kicked it up the pitch.

“This is Arsenal we’re talking about – not a Championship team in the FA Cup – that’s hanging in there.”

He then went on to add: “I’m on about when you’ve got it [the ball], still look after it.

“Don’t even worry about playing one up front, but when you do get it try and get four, five, six passes.

“They were just booting it like a small team with a small mentality.

“When I see England international players just booting it out of play I’m going ‘What are you? League One? League Two?'”

Keane’s criticism of Arsenal comes after his former team-mate Paul Scholes admitted Arteta’s side have “disappointed” him so far this season.

He said: “Arsenal, at some point, have got to beat them [Manchester City at the Etihad]. They nearly did it, and it was a great effort.

“I sat here at the start of the season and thought Arsenal might win the league, but I’ve been a little bit disappointed with their start to the season.

“Arsenal have been poor going forward this season.

“You look at all the goals they scored last year, and everyone was talking about getting a centre forward in the summer and you thought they probably didn’t need it.

“But five or six games in, it feels like Arsenal are struggling – it’s not quite clicking.”

Tommy Fury fans convinced he’s sending a sign to ex fiancée Molly-Mae Hague after spotting BIG clue in new video

TOMMY Fury fans are holding out hope he’ll patch things up with ex Molly-Mae Hague after spotting a ‘clue’ in his latest vlog.

The former couple split up in July after Tommy cheated on Molly-Mae, though he continues to deny any infidelity took place.

He has since moved out of their £4m Cheshire mansion where Molly-Mae remains with daughter Bambi, one.

Neither party has criticised the other in the aftermath though Molly-Mae addressed the situation in a recent YouTube video and admitted things have been tough.

Tommy has thrown himself back into training since the separation and his latest YouTube video shows what an average day in his life now looks like.

It’s taken up with gruelling training sessions as he keeps fit ahead of his next fight, as well as lots of recovery activities and nutritional breaks.

Throughout the video Tommy can be seen wearing the gold promise band from before his engagement to Molly-Mae.

Some followers believes it’s a sign that a reconciliation could be on the cards.

One person posted: “Nice to see your still wearing your ring maybe there’s still hope and good to see you back training.”

Another explained: “It’s a promise ring not an engagement ring he’s been wearing it long before they were engaged.”

Others praised Tommy for staying positive in the face of the backlash he’s received.

At the weekend he was loudly booed when he sat ringside to watch Anthony Joshua’s fight with Daniel Dubois.

One person commented: “Your doing amazing Tommy all the bad press and all the hate is rubbish.. your a great Dad and great person keep going.”

Molly-Mae has busied herself with work since the split and has launched her own womenswear brand called Maebe.

So far it’s been a successful start and proud Molly called it a career high.

Timeline of Molly-Mae and Tommy Fury's split

After five years together, Molly-Mae and Tommy Fury split up in August 2024.

At around 4pm on Wednesday, August 14, Molly-Mae and Tommy suffer an explosive showdown and Molly-Mae announces her split from fiancé Tommy Fury, saying ‘ I never imagined our story would end, especially not this way’.

An hour later Tommy shares a separate and brief statement confirming they have parted ways, and thanks Molly-Mae for making him ‘a dad’.

The real reason they split emerges and on Thursday, August 15 The Sun reveals how Molly-Mae learned Tommy had cheated on her – leading to an explosive showdown.

On Saturday, August 17, The Sun reveals how Molly-Mae had been sent an upsetting video showing Tommy kissing a girl in a nightclub in North Macedonia on a lads holiday.

Exactly one week after the split a Danish woman accused of getting close to Tommy speaks to The Sun. On Wednesday, August 21, she denies she is the girl who kissed Tommy.

INSTAGRAM Nick Knowles - Arm update!....Today I have seen Dr’s and Physio’s who have been wonderful. I’ve had scans (I’ll spare you the grim details) and although it’s feeling a bit better today, the issue is, we don’t know if I can actually use my arm to dance.....So tomorrow, I’m going to rehearsals with @lubamushtuk and the physio to see just what my arm can do. Then the medics will make a call on if they think I can continue dancing.....I am still really hopeful that I’ll be able to dance this weekend. So fingers crossed… - https://www.instagram.com/p/DATvxdZOspM/?hl=en

Nick will find out this afternoon if he can dance with Luba on Saturday night
BBC

Last night The Sun revealed DIY SOS presenter Nick was still in the dark over whether or not he’ll be able to dance on Saturday night.

After training all day yesterday with Luba Mushtuk, Nick took to Instagram to give fans an update.

He said: “I’ve just got out of soaking in the bath after a day’s training, which went very well.

“My shoulder is repairing very well. I saw a great physio today that’s helped enormously.

“So I get another day’s training tomorrow. The decision will be made tomorrow afternoon, whether I can actually compete on Saturday.

“I’m doing my level best to get there, keeping my fingers crossed. So hopefully see.”

Last night an insider told The Sun: “Nick is desperate to carry on and is insisting he is fine to perform but the BBC are naturally wary.

“If Nick continues and does more damage to himself in the long run it puts them in a tricky position. His health comes first but Nick is pleading with them to continue.”

He spent hours in a rehearsal studio with Luba to try to prove he could still perform — despite being in a sling.

A source revealed he will have little time to practise if he is cleared.

They added added: “Nick needs to learn a whole routine, he has barely any time at all.

“If he is cleared he will need to learn quickly. Luba is an amazing teacher and she is confident they can do it. But, ultimately, it might get to a point that the BBC just put their foot down.”

Over one thousand pensioners missing out on winter fuel payment to get cash help worth £100s

HUNDREDS of pensioners who will miss out on the winter fuel payment can now apply for cash help worth hundreds of pounds.

Around 10million pensioners will no longer get the payment worth up to £300 after chancellor Rachel Reeves changed the rules for qualifying.

Households missing out on the winter fuel payment could get help from their council[/caption]

From this winter, the payment will be limited to people receiving Pension Credit and other means-tested benefits.

As a result, households are looking for ways to get support with essential costs, like energy bills, throughout the winter.

Some will be able to access help through the Household Support Fund (HSF).

The pot of money has been shared between councils in England who then decide how to distribute it and who is eligible for support.

That means what you are entitled to varies depending on where you live and it can be a bit of a postcode lottery.

The current round of support, worth £421million, is coming to an end on September 30.

But the scheme is being extended until Spring next year, with a further £421million being distributed to authorities across the country.

Milton Keynes council has revealed that it will be offering energy vouchers to struggling households from October.

It said that it will decide on eligibility on a “case by case” basis, but people who are just missing out on eligibility for the winter fuel payment will receive help worth up to £300.

Those whose local authority is Milton Keynes and meet any of the following criteria will be contacted about accessing the support:

  • Local people who are already in financial difficulty
  • Those who fall out of eligibility for Pension Credit and the Winter Fuel Payment

It added that anyone in financial crisis can approach the council for help with the cost of food, energy and essentials.

The Council said it expects around 1,400 pensioners to be eligible.

Once they are contacted, households will need to reply so the council knows how best to send the vouchers.

They will then be sent out within a week of the reply being received.

What is the Winter Fuel Payment?

Consumer reporter Sam Walker explains all you need to know about the payment.

The Winter Fuel Payment is an annual tax-free benefit designed to help cover the cost of heating through the colder months.

Most who are eligible receive the payment automatically.

Those who qualify are usually told via a letter sent in October or November each year.

If you do meet the criteria but don’t automatically get the Winter Fuel Payment, you will have to apply on the government’s website.

You’ll qualify for a Winter Fuel Payment this winter if:

  • you were born on or before September 23, 1958
  • you lived in the UK for at least one day during the week of September 16 to 22, 2024, known as the “qualifying week”
  • you receive Pension Credit, Universal Credit, ESA, JSA, Income Support, Child Tax Credit or Working Tax Credit

If you did not live in the UK during the qualifying week, you might still get the payment if both the following apply:

  • you live in Switzerland or a EEA country
  • you have a “genuine and sufficient” link with the UK social security system, such as having lived or worked in the UK and having a family in the UK

But there are exclusions – you can’t get the payment if you live in Cyprus, France, Gibraltar, Greece, Malta, Portugal or Spain.

This is because the average winter temperature is higher than the warmest region of the UK.

You will also not qualify if you:

  • are in hospital getting free treatment for more than a year
  • need permission to enter the UK and your granted leave states that you can not claim public funds
  • were in prison for the whole “qualifying week”
  • lived in a care home for the whole time between 26 June to 24 September 2023, and got Pension Credit, Income Support, income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance or income-related Employment and Support Allowance

Payments are usually made between November and December, with some made up until the end of January the following year.

Can I get help if I don’t live in Milton Keynes?

To get help, you’ll need to check with your council, as local authorities are in charge of distributing the funding.

To find your local council, use the gov.uk council finder tool.

Once you’ve found your council, there should be information on how to apply on its website.

Each council has a different application process, so the exact details on how to apply will vary depending on where you live.

That means that the eligibility requirements to access the fund could also vary.

Some councils don’t require you to apply for help – if you qualify, they’ll contact you about it instead.

If your council’s website does not provide information, it’s best to call them and ask for more information.

What are other councils offering?

Residents in Blackpool can receive up to £300 in support from the Household Support Fund.

Those living in Bracknell Forest could be eligible for a £315 cash grant.

Low-income households in Cambridgeshire can apply for a financial award of £110 per household.

East Devon District Council is offering a one-off payment of £100 to households receiving housing benefit or council tax reduction.

Cheshire East Council is also offering struggling families £500 grants to fight the cost of living.

To find out what’s on offer from your council, visit gov.uk/find-local-council.

What energy bill help is available?

THERE'S a number of different ways to get help paying your energy bills if you're struggling to get by.

If you fall into debt, you can always approach your supplier to see if they can put you on a repayment plan before putting you on a prepayment meter.

This involves paying off what you owe in instalments over a set period.

If your supplier offers you a repayment plan you don’t think you can afford, speak to them again to see if you can negotiate a better deal.

Several energy firms have grant schemes available to customers struggling to cover their bills.

But eligibility criteria varies depending on the supplier and the amount you can get depends on your financial circumstances.

For example, British Gas or Scottish Gas customers struggling to pay their energy bills can get grants worth up to £2,000.

British Gas also offers help via its British Gas Energy Trust and Individuals Family Fund.

You don’t need to be a British Gas customer to apply for the second fund.

EDF, E.ON, Octopus Energy and Scottish Power all offer grants to struggling customers too.

Thousands of vulnerable households are missing out on extra help and protections by not signing up to the Priority Services Register (PSR).

The service helps support vulnerable households, such as those who are elderly or ill, and some of the perks include being given advance warning of blackouts, free gas safety checks and extra support if you’re struggling.

Get in touch with your energy firm to see if you can apply.
