Michael van Gerwen will go into this tournament oozing with confidence after recently beating Gian van Veen in an epic Hungarian Darts Trophy final.
Luke Littler is back in action[/caption]
However, it won’t be easy for the Dutch ace to win back-to-back titles as there’ll be 47 other stars with the same dream.
Someone who knows a little bit about winning consecutive titles is Luke Littler after his World Series of Darts and Players Championship 20 triumphs earlier this month.
And after pulling out of the Hungarian Darts Trophy last weekend, the teenage sensation will be desperate to get his hands on more silverware.
The likes of Luke Humphries and No.1 seed Dave Chisnall are also set to feature in the first-ever PDC Swiss competition.

Arsenal picked themselves up from last weekend’s frustrating 2-2 draw with Manchester City by thumping Bolton 5-1 in the Carabao Cup.
And Leicester will be fearful of a similar result on Saturday with Mikel Arteta’s side determined to return to winning ways in the Premier League.
History suggests this will be a straightforward win for the Gunners, who’ve won their last five Premier League games against Leicester.
The Foxes have won just one of their last 26 away league games against Arsenal, while the hosts have won 16 of their last 17 Premier League games against promoted sides.
Unbeaten Arsenal sit fourth in the division with 11 points from a possible 15, although their odds for the title have now been slashed following Rodri’s injury.
They might well be buoyed by the news of Manchester City missing such a pivotal player, and Saturday looks a good opportunity to improve their +5 goal difference – which is three behind the current champions.
Leicester, meanwhile, remain winless in their five Premier League games so far this season.
Steve Cooper’s side have both scored and conceded in all five of their Premier League games so far this season – though only Ipswich Town have registered fewer efforts on goal.

Mr Assist
It’s perhaps a little greedy, but I fancy Arsenal to score a handful on Saturday and superstar winger Bukayo Saka should be heavily involved.
The England international, 23, has already scored once and provided a whopping five assists in seven appearances this season.
He’s created a colossal 12 chances for his colleagues in 386 minutes of league action, which is more than Leandro Trossard and Martin Odegaard combined.

Last call
Call it punty, but Gabriel Jesus looks a decent shout to score the LAST goal against Leicester this weekend.
The Brazilian, 27, is extremely unlikely to start, but should arrive for the last 15 minutes or so when the visitors are expected to be trailing.
His record against Leicester is outstanding having netted seven goals and provided two assists in ten appearances – winning all ten of those matches.
He scored twice and assisted twice against the Foxes on his home debut for Arsenal in August 2022, and we expect him to round off a productive afternoon for the Gunners.

1 week agoWorld LeaksComments Off on British Open Snooker 2024: Schedule, results, draw and format for huge Cheltenham tournament
THE British Open is underway with some of snooker’s biggest stars in action until Sunday.
The iconic tournament uses a flat draw which sees all players, regardless of their world ranking, begin in the opening round.
Mark Williams will defend his British Open title this month[/caption]
It also applies an ‘FA Cup-style’ draw for each stage, meaning there is no ranking protection – and anyone can draw anyone.
Many round one matches of this year’s British Open have already taken place in Leicester – but all the top 16 seeds and others – have had their tournament openers saved for the main venue in Cheltenham and the TV cameras.
Defending champion Mark Williams will be looking to retain the Clive Everton Trophy after his epic 10-7 triumph over Mark Selby last year.
However, snooker fans have been left devastated as legend Ronnie O’Sullivan has now withdrawn from the tournament.
The British Open began on July 31 – with some stars playing their round-one matches early at Leicester’s Morningside Arena (results below).
First-round ties involving the top 16 in the world and others will begin on Monday, September 23, at the Centaur Arena in Cheltenham.
The tournament will conclude on Sunday, September 29.

1 week agoWorld LeaksComments Off on Fashion fan transform’s her Shein sandals into flawless Hermes dupes & she only needed a dab of nail varnish remover
WE’D all love to have that chic wardrobe filled with designer labels but managing to afford it may be a different story.
However, one fashion fan has discovered just the trick and it has managed to make it look like she owns £610 sandals.
The fashion fan ordered a pair of lookalike Hermes sandals from Shein[/caption]
Joudy didn’t want to fork out £610 on the Hermes sandals[/caption]
She loved the hack so much that she shared it on TikTok and it has since gone viral with over 22.9 million views.
Fashion fan Joudy, who is known as @joudyaall on TikTok, revealed how she transformed her Shein sandals into flawless Hermes dupes.
In the video, she explained that she only needed a dab of nail varnish remover.
Whilst demonstrating her trick, she jokingly wrote: “Poor people things.”
In the video it shows that she bought brown sandals which would look similar to the Oran Hermes with the iconic “H” cut-out ones but these had the Shein logo on the heel.
So to make them more like a dupe to the Hermes ones, the savvy fashion fan got some nail varnish remover and cotton pad and started using it to wipe down the logo.
Her video gained a lot of attention with over 634,000 likes, and over 2,800 comments.
One wrote: “For your information, Hermes shoes are really uncomfortable so you just saved your pocket and feet!”
Another added: “Girl maths: You just saved 700$!”
A third said: “I have the same slippers and I couldn’t care less.
“Imagine spending 100s of dollars on the real ones. That’s a joke to me.”
Whilst some said that the fashion fan should be proud of where she got the sandals from.
A big fan of budget online retailers said: “Hell no!! I wear it proudly and when asked I say it was £4 on Shein! Lol.”
And another asked: “Why be ashamed of it? Luxury brands have the same quality as the other cheap brands.”
Someone else also mentioned: “Most probably these shoes are from the same manufacturer, where many other companies are labelling their stuff.”

DANCING With The Stars’ Carrie Ann Inaba has hit back at Anna Delvey’s ‘dismissive’ elimination remark that shocked viewers.
Viewers fumed that her partner Ezra Sosa, 23, “deserves better” as the convicted con artist, 33, failed to show appreciation for all his work over the past few weeks.
DWTS’ Carrie Ann Inaba has hit back at Anna Delvey’s ‘dismissive’ elimination remark[/caption]
The convicted con artist failed to show appreciation for all her partner’s hard work[/caption]
The fake heiress has now come under fire from judge Carrie, 56, who has been left disappointed by her lack of “gratitude”.
She told Entertainment Weekly: “I was taken aback by her comment when asked what she learned from being on the show, and she flatly said, ‘Nothing.’
“That was dismissive not only of the opportunity she was given, of her wonderful and supportive partner Ezra in his debut season, but also of all of us who work on the show-from the dancers to behind the scenes to the creative team.
“We all put in the effort to give her a fair opportunity. But I don’t think she could see that and it’s a shame. A little gratitude could have changed the narrative.”
For their final performance, the pair danced the quickstep to KT Tunstall’s Suddenly I See, with Ezra poking fun at her stern personality by holding up the corners of her mouth.
An insider explained the infamous fake heiress – who served nearly four years in prison on theft-related charges before her release in 2021 – has been “focused on herself” instead of acting as part of a DTWS team.
“There is a lot of tension between Anna and Ezra, and it is growing by the day,” the insider exclusive told The U.S. Sun.
“Certainly the cause of much of it is that Anna seems less focused on collaboration and more focused on herself.
“She can be negative too about what she can achieve with dances, even though she keeps telling everyone she is a hard worker.
“Ezra has been frustrated because he really wants to make an impact as the new kid on the block at DWTS.”
TOO GOOD FOR REALITY TV?
Anna has also acted as though the ABC reality show is “beneath” her, the insider claimed.
“She has a mindset of promoting herself as ‘ambitious,’ treating this like a stepping stone to something bigger.
“Production members say that her attitude makes it feel like she acts as if the show is beneath her.
“There is a sense it is all about Anna’s world, and what is important to Anna, not anyone else.
“Dancing is a collaboration and to succeed, partners need to be in tune.”
The talented Ezra, who was promoted from a troupe member to a professional for Season 33, is “focused on going far in the competition,” despite Anna’s attitude.
“Ezra brings the energy, excitement and excellent ability every minute of every day,” the source said.
“He is doing his best to push Anna to achieve better performances, knowing that can get them further in the competition.”
Anna, who wears an ankle bracelet as she faces deportation back to her native Germany, has also complained about relocating to Los Angeles from New York.
“Another dampener in their relationship is that Anna complains about being in Los Angeles. She openly told him and production that she prefers New York many times,” the source added.
“She compares everything to NYC, always in the negative.
“Given she defrauded people in her past with her poise, charm and personality, so far those traits have not yet been seen.
“She is considered cold and awkward in conversations. She knows that she is an outsider within the cast, but has not made too many strides to try to make friends.
A rep for DWTS did not respond to a request for comment.
DANCE ‘DISS’
On the show’s premiere, fans noticed that Anna appeared to snub Ezra with an unplanned departure from her routine.
At the beginning of their dance to Sabrina Carpenter’s Espresso, Anna walked alone ahead of Ezra down the stage, leaving him only able to throw up his hands in dismay before following her lead.
Many took the move to be an attempt to take the spotlight solo.
“She made a creative choice on the fly and it just didn’t work,” one viewer said.
“She’s so unserious, I was wondering if it was a bit, but watching this back I’m so dead. LMAO his face,” a second viewer chimed in.
STAYING POSITIVE
Despite his rumored feelings about Anna, Ezra has put on a brave face to the show’s fans, sharing videos of the two rehearsing together.
On Monday, the pro took to Instagram to defend his partner against show fans who want to vote her off as soon as possible.
“Hoping everyone gives Anna some grace,” he told fans.
“She’s working so hard to start fresh, and we’re only just getting started.”

1 week agoWorld LeaksComments Off on All the ways Kate & Wills break royal tradition parenting Prince George – from dress codes to social media
PRINCE George’s life is laid out for him in many ways as heir to the throne.
However, Prince William and Princess Kate are breaking a number of royal traditions when it comes to raising their 11-year-old son, from his education to his holidays.
Prince George is already being prepared to be king – but William and Kate are breaking traditions in how they are raising him[/caption]
The Prince and Princess of Wales are keen for George to have as normal an upbringing as possible[/caption]
Here’s how the future king’s life differs so far differs from his dad Prince William and grandfather King Charles…
Education
Kate and William are keen to give their children a happy childhood, and this is reflected in their schooling choices for George, Charlotte and Louis.
Royal author Phil Dampier told Fabulous that Charles hated the schools he was sent to and was even bullied during his time away from home.
He shared: “Prince Philip decided Charles should go to the same schools as he did and Charles was packed off as a boarder first to Cheam, and then Gordonstoun in Scotland, where he was bullied.”
While Charles famously hated being isolated at Gordonstoun, Prince George is with his siblings at Lambrook School, and currently lives at home with his family.
Phil added: “It’s hard to imagine George being bullied at school in the same way today.
“William and Kate have tried to give him a normal schooling.”
Prince George’s school’s ethos is creating pupils who will leave “Lambrook as confident, happy, engaging, independent and kind young people who are outward looking in all that they do.”
Won’t have to serve in the military
It is customary for members of the royal family to serve in the military, but this may not be the case for George when he grows up.
Phil claimed William and Kate are “unlikely to force Prince George into joining the armed forces if he doesn’t want to.”
Currently Prince George attends Lambrook School with his siblings and lives at home[/caption]
Freedom with university
The expert claimed that George may be given more freedom over his education choices too, in contrast to King Charles, whose university was picked for him.
Phil claimed: “In December 1965 however, the then Queen and Prince Philip hosted a dinner party with the express purpose of discussing Charles’s future.
“The guests included the Prime Minister Harold Wilson, the Archbishop of Canterbury Michael Ramsey, Philip’s uncle Lord Mountbatten, the Dean of Windsor and the Queen’s private secretary Sir Michael Adeane.
“Charles was not invited and was told afterwards by Mountbatten his future would be Trinity College Cambridge, Dartmouth Naval College and then a spell in the Royal Navy.”
Social media
Unlike William and Charles, George is growing up in the era of social media, and the Prince and Princess of Wales have embraced this with their official Instagram and YouTube accounts.
The couple have hired the services of talented filmmaker Will Warr, and he was the mastermind between the family’s recent emotional video where Kate shared how she has finished chemotherapy.
Kate released this heartwarming video sharing how she is now cancer-free, and it featured her kids[/caption]
George has been seen in a number of posts – but Phil stressed that they heavily “control” what they show of their private life.
He said: “Well, I think the main thing is they like to have is a sense of control over these things.
“They were in charge of the image and the narrative they want to put out there.
“Kate, of course, as we know, has been taking her own photos for many years of the family.
“So in that way they’re controlling things and controlling their image.”
Down-to-earth holidays
Although they have been known to jet off to the luxury A-lister island of Mustique, William and Kate are also keen for their kids to have “normal” holidays too.
Kate’s recent video showed the family playing cards with Carole and Michael Middleton, and running around in the woods.
Many of their holidays from school are spent playing in the woods in Norfolk[/caption]
Editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine, Ingrid Seward said they love going to their countryside home, Anmer Hall.
She added: “They can take advantage of everything Sandringham has to offer, including wonderful beaches and miles of paths through the estate to ride on ponies or bikes.”
Kate Middleton's 'golden rule' with George, Charlotte and Louis
KATE'S key rule for Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis is about kindness.
According to HELLO! Online’s Royal Correspondent: “Based on observations of photographs of Princess Diana at the time, and the current Princess of Wales, they are both very affectionate with their children.
“Kate is often seen holding her children’s hands or picking them up for cuddles when they were smaller.
“There are often lots of comforting gestures, such as a pat on the back or stroking their hair. When interacting with other children on her public engagements, Kate often crouches down to their level to engage with them – something that Diana would often do.”
A friend explained that behind closed doors, the 42-year-old is “very chilled at home” but definitely not a pushover and will tell the kids off when needed.
They told PEOPLE: “It’s a normal, busy family home with kids running around and knocking things over. There’s no airs and graces.
“She is doing that to help her children be more grounded and keep their reality in check. That’s what really matters to her.”
Dress codes
While we often see George and his siblings smartly dressed for occasions such as Trooping the Colour, we’ve also seen them in relaxed outfits too.
When Prince George met the Obamas in 2016, the young royal met the then-President in his dressing gown.
Barack joked: “It’s not just Congress. Even some foreign leaders they have been looking ahead, anticipating my departure.
“Last week Prince George showed up to our meeting in his bathrobe. That was a slap in the face. A clear breach of protocol.”

1 week agoWorld LeaksComments Off on New Wetherspoons pub set to open inside the old London Dungeon
A NEW Wetherspoons pub could soon open at one of the UK’s oldest train stations – on the old site of a major UK attraction.
The pub chain has revealed plans to open in the former site of the London Dungeon.
A new Wetherspoons pub is set to open at one of London’s oldest train stations[/caption]
The Sun Wharf will replace the former London Dungeon site, which moved in 2013[/caption]
The old London Dungeon site opened in 1974[/caption]
Called The Sun Wharf, the new pub would open in the arches under London Bridge station.
The location was once home to the London Dungeon until 2013, before it moved to its new location nearby on the South Bank.
Having first opened in 1974, it originally opened with just historical waxworks, before evolving into theatrical shows you could walk through including events such as the Fire of London and Jack the Ripper.
After being bought by what would become Merlin Entertainments in 1992, London Dungeon moved locations after 39 years, with the rebuild costing £20million and now welcomes more than 700,000 people a year.
If the Wetherspoons pub is given the go-ahead for the location, it would open seven days a week, from 6:30am until 12:30am.
The planning application, submitted on September 11, is yet to be confirmed.
However, the location has remained empty due to it being hard to let, according to Network Rail.
Back in 2017, they submitted to the local council: “The residual premises provide a very poor quality environment.
“The former user (London Dungeon) was somewhat unusual in so far as the poor quality environment was its main attraction.
“NR Commercial Property has been unable to identify other potential D2 users willing to lease the residual space in its current state.”
An official opening date is yet to be confirmed.
It would be the second Wetherspoons to open near London Bridge, joining the The Pommelers Rest at Tower Bridge.
London Bridge station is the oldest London railway terminus that is still running, having opened in 1836.
Now, it welcomes around 140,000 passengers a day, making it one of the busiest in the city.
As well has having underground services including the Northern and Jubilee lines, it also connects travellers to central London and destinations across Kent via overground services.
But it isn’t the only Wetherspoons pub to have recently opened at a UK train station.
London Dungeon moved in 2013 to South Bank[/caption]
It is one of the biggest pubs that Wetherspoons has opened to date.
The Sun’s Laura McGuire was one of the first to go down, saying: “Overall the pub had a more modern feel to it compared to other more historic locations as it’s situated in The Sidings, which was built on the grounds of the former Eurostar Terminal.
“I have to say the view from this location is not spectacular, and if you’re not facing a window you are just going to have a view of the Sidings shopping centre.
“But considering it is just a minutes run from the hundreds of trains departing from Waterloo Station it is hard to complain.”
FREE refills - Buy a £1.50 tea, coffee or hot chocolate and you can get free refills. The deal is available all day, every day.
Check a map – Prices can vary from one location the next, even those close to each other.
So if you’re planning a pint at a Spoons, it’s worth popping in nearby pubs to see if you’re settling in at the cheapest.
Choose your day – Each night the pub chain runs certain food theme nights.
For instance, every Thursday night is curry club, where diners can get a main meal and a drink for a set price cheaper than usual.
Pick-up vouchers – Students can often pick up voucher books in their local near universities, which offer discounts on food and drink, so keep your eyes peeled.
Get appy – The Wetherspoons app allows you to order and pay for your drink and food from your table – but you don’t need to be in the pub to use it.
Taking full advantage of this, cheeky customers have used social media to ask their friends and family to order them drinks. The app is free to download on the App Store or Google Play.
Check the date – Every year, Spoons holds its Tax Equality Day to highlight the benefits of a permanently reduced tax bill for the pub industry.
It usually takes place in September, and last year it fell on Thursday, September 14.
As well as its 12-day Real Ale Festival every Autumn, Wetherspoons also holds a Spring Festival.
