Keeping pace
The 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest is the only game Liverpool haven’t won this season.
And that good Premier League run should continue here against a Wolves side who’ve lost their last three.
But the only game the hosts haven’t scored in was the 2-0 opening day loss to Arsenal and they can get on the scoresheet at least.

1 week agoWorld LeaksComments Off on BBC Breakfast in hosting shake-up as Naga Munchetty goes missing and is replaced by familiar face
BBC Breakfast underwent another hosting shake-up this morning as regular presenter Naga Munchetty went ‘missing’ from screens and was replaced by Nina Warhurst.
It comes after the BBC recently revealed that Naga made £25,000 in the month of June on top of her usual salary for presenting the breakfast show.

Familiar face Nina Warhurst had to take her seat next to Charlie Stayt this morning[/caption]
Nina updated the nation on the latest headlines[/caption]
Naga, 49, and Charlie Stayt, 62, usually team up to present BBC Breakfast from Thursday through to Saturday.
However, she was nowhere to be seen this morning when a familiar face, Nina, 43, stepped up to help give the nation the latest news headlines.
It’s unclear why Naga wasn’t on BBC Breakfast this morning, but the show is no stranger to hosting shake-ups as presenters regularly swap in for each other.
Nina usually appears on BBC Breakfast as a business and consumer affairs reporter, but it’s not the first time she’s had to step up to co-present the morning news show.
Recently she stepped in twice within two weeks to cover Sally Nugent earlier this month. Sally, 53, usually hosts the programme with John Kay, 54, on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.
While Naga was missed by fans, many viewers were happy to see Nina get a chance to present.
“Absolute delight to see the lovely Nina Warhurst reading the main news,” one fan gushed on X, formerly Twitter.
“So lovely to see you rising in the broadcasting ranks, Nina. You are absolutely my favourite presenter,” praised another.
She has previously spoken about how she works hard for her salary and has to be in the BBC Breakfast studio by 4.50am.
Presenters are also allowed to pick up extra earnings by being hired at after-dinner speeches, hosting Q&A sessions for firms, and handing out gongs at corporate bashes.
Staff disclose their extra earnings to BBC bosses and the amounts are published by the corporation under transparency rules.
And the latest BBC External Events Register has shown that Naga was paid between £5,000 and £10,000 for hosting a Veuve Cliquot awards ceremony in London on 13 June.
Who are the current presenters of BBC Breakfast?
The flagship BBC show has had dozens of presenters during its impressive 40 years on air but the current stars are:
1 week agoWorld LeaksComments Off on Wolves vs Liverpool prediction: Free betting tips, odds and preview for Saturday evening clash
LIVERPOOL are aiming to keep pace with leaders Manchester City when they head for Molineux to take on Wolves on Saturday.
SunSport betting experts have previewed the contest – and carefully selected our best bets, tips and exclusive sign-up bonuses for the Saturday evening encounter.
After that disappointing home defeat to Nottingham Forest, Liverpool have scored eight goals in two games to get back on track.
A 3-0 win over Bournemouth in the league last week was followed up by a thumping 5-1 win over West Ham in the Carabao Cup in midweek.
It wasn’t quite as smooth as the score suggests, having gone a goal down to an OG early on.
And until Mo Salah’s 74th minute strike to make it 3-1 and Edson Alvarez’s red card shortly after, it was a tie in the balance. Cody Gakpo’s late double added some gloss to the score.
Nevertheless, it’s been a strong start from Arne Slot’s men, with every game outside that Forest one being a win by at least two goals.
With Manchester City kicking off earlier in the day, Liverpool will know whether or not a chance has opened up to go top, going into the weekend a point behind.
For Wolves, they have just the one win to their name this season – a 2-0 win over Championship side Burnley in the cup.
They actually go into the weekend BOTTOM of the table with just a point in their tally.
Frustratingly for them, they’ve led the last two league games against Aston Villa and Newcastle, only to capitulate late on and lose both.

Main man
Liverpool’s main man on the wing can continue to do damage this weekend.
No, not Mo Salah. Luis Diaz has five goals in his last three Premier League games and has been in terrific form in recent weeks. And his place is constantly under threat from Cody Gakpo who continues to do well in his absence.
Will likely have seen the joy Anthony Gordon got down the Newcastle left in their win at Molineux recently and can cause havoc.

1 week agoWorld LeaksComments Off on Calls for Eurostar to stop at new UK station – with trains to Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam
PLANS for Eurostar trains to stop at another UK station have been brought forward again – after previously being scrapped.
Brits heading to Europe via the international train service can currently only board from London St Pancras station in the UK.
Plans for Eurostar to stop at Stratford International station were previously scrapped[/caption]
However the high-speed train service – that then goes on to France, Belgium and the Netherlands – could potentially stop at Stratford International station as part of a proposal.
Currently, Stratford International only offers journeys to UK train stations.
This includes London St Pancras International and Kings Cross, as well as services in Kent including Margate, Canterbury West and Ashford International.
It opened back in 2009 where there was already a Stratford Station, giving it the name Stratford International.
The name was given due to plans to connect passengers to Eurostar trains to Paris.
But the plans never came to fruition, even though Eurostar trains pass through Stratford International station every time they head to and depart from the UK.
It wasn’t made clear at the time why the plans were dropped, but it’s believed part of the reason was Eurostar was unconvinced stopping just seven minutes away from St Pancras was worth it.
The plans for Stratford to finally have international rail links were announced by Sir Stephen Timms, MP for East Ham, in his proposals for the area.
Timms said the case is growing for such a development due to how crowded St Pancras station can get at peak times.
He also hopes more people will travel by train to Paris, Brussels, and Amsterdam rather than flying, reducing the impact on climate change.
While the platforms are ready, new immigration posts would need to be set up at the Stratford station, which would be required to serve international passengers.
So it would be less about the cost of building it and more about the cost of running the operation and paying immigration staff.
The Department for Transport has said the decision is up to Eurostar, as the international operator.
Eurostar journeys previously stopped at Ashford International and Ebbsfeleet International in Kent.
But both stations have been closed since March 2020.
Eurostar cited financial factors as the reason for their closure, as well as the post-Brexit border situation.
The pandemic caused significant financial losses for Eurostar, and travel restrictions reduced passenger numbers to less than 1 percent of pre-pandemic levels.
If the international rail operator does agree to the proposal, there may be questions over why it’s stopping at two London stations rather than one of the other stations in Kent.
Ongoing maintenance works could see also the direct London to Amsterdam route scrapped for the entirety of 2025.
Sun Travel's favourite train journeys in the world
Sun Travel's journalists have taken their fare share of train journeys on their travels and here they share their most memorable rail experiences.
Davos to Geneva, Switzerland
“After a ski holiday in Davos, I took the scenic train back to Geneva Airport. The snow-covered mountains and tiny alpine villages that we passed were so beautiful that it felt like a moving picture was playing beyond the glass.” – Caroline McGuire
Tokyo to Kyoto by Shinkansen
“Nothing quite beats the Shinkansen bullet train, one of the fastest in the world. It hardly feels like you’re whizzing along at speed until you look outside and see the trees a green blur. Make sure to book seat D or E too – as you’ll have the best view of Mount Fuji along the way.” Kara Godfrey
London to Paris by Eurostar
“Those who have never travelled on the Eurostar may wonder what’s so special about a seemingly ordinary train that takes you across the channel. You won’t have to waste a moment and can tick off all the top attractions from the Louvre to the Champs-Élysées which are both less than five kilometres from the Gare du Nord.” – Sophie Swietochowski
Glasgow to Fort William by Scotrail
“From mountain landscapes and serene lochs to the wistful moors, I spent my three-hour journey from Glasgow to Fort William gazing out the window. Sit on the left-hand side of the train for the best views overlooking Loch Lomond.” – Hope Brotherton
Beijing to Ulaanbatar
“The Trans-Mongolian Express is truly a train journey like no other. It starts amid the chaos of central Beijing before the city’s high-rises give way to crumbling ancient villages and eventually the vast vacant plains of Mongolia, via the Gobi desert. The deep orange sunset seen in the middle of the desert is among the best I’ve witnessed anywhere.” – Ryan Gray

1 week agoWorld LeaksComments Off on Putin opens door for Russia to launch NUKES as he rips up war rulebook days after chilling video of London being razed
RUSSIAN Dictator Vladimir Putin has issued a chilling threat to launch nukes days after a chilling simulation showed London being nuked.
The mad leader escalated his nuclear threats against the West, telling his security council he needed to “correct” the Kremlin nuclear doctrine.
Mad Vlad has opened the door for nuke warfare after telling his security council he needed to “correct” the nuclear doctrine[/caption]
The changes would allow the despot to deploy nukes if Russia was ever hit with conventional missiles[/caption]
Putin has regularly threatened to carry out a nuclear strike against Western enemies[/caption]
It would allow the despot to deploy nukes if Russia or key ally Belarus was hit with conventional missiles.
The Kremlin chief said Moscow would consider any assault supported by a nuclear power as a joint attack.
He said: “Aggression against Russia by any non-nuclear state, but with the participation or support of a nuclear state, is treated as a joint attack on the Russian Federation.”
The Kremlin said the changes outlined by Putin should be considered a signal to the West that there will be consequences if Western powers participate in attacks on Russia.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia would make a decision on whether not to publish the updated nuclear documents, adding that adjustments to the document on state nuclear deterrence were being formulated.
Previously, Russia’s nuclear doctrine had only allowed it to launch a nuclear strike after a direct attack by an enemy armed with nuclear weapons.
The warning comes after Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky, was due to meet Joe Biden at the White House to push for permission to fire US-made long-range missiles at Russia.
Putin and other top Kremlin officials have regularly threatened to carry out a nuclear strike because of Western support for Ukraine since it invaded in 2022.
The clip was shared by a staunchly pro-Putin propaganda TV channel and appears to be the latest move to scare Britain from giving permission to Ukraine to fire Storm Shadow missiles far inside Russia.
The blast, which detonates over Westminster, shows the fireball evaporating central London in a sickening animated video.
Buildings are destroyed and a mushroom cloud goes high into the sky above the capital.
Buckingham Palace, The City, The Shard, and some of the greatest arts and cultural sites in the world are obliterated.
As the explosion spreads, the clip has a rolling ticker estimating how many would die from Putin’s sick decision.
Eventually, around 850,000 people would be evaporated and two million would be injured with a 750 kiloton bomb.
The video broadcast on the Tsargrad network’s Telegram channel begins by threatening: “Imagine for a moment that the unimaginable happens.”
The commentary warns viewers: “Upon detonation, a fireball as hot as the sun rapidly expands, reaching a radius of 950 metres (1,039 yards).
“People within that radius won’t even feel anything because the nerve impulse transmission speed is slower.
“Within 5 km (3 miles) of the epicentre the blast radius: City of London, Camden town, Kensington, Brixton, these areas will receive the most destruction.”
It comes as Sir Keir Starmer is weighing whether to let UK-made Storm Shadow missiles be fired over the border.
Valerii Zaluzhnyi, Ukraine’s ambassador to the UK, told Labour’s conference
He said: “If Russia fires missiles at any targets in Ukraine it’s Ukraine’s right to respond in kind by hitting military targets within Russia. It’s the principle of self-defence.”
The calculating Russian despot has been using satellites to compile images and detailed information on the infrastructure, according to Ukrainian intelligence.
President Zelensky told the UN General Assembly: “Recently I received yet another alarming report from our intelligence.
“Now Putin does seem to be planning attacks on our nuclear power plants and the infrastructure, aiming to disconnect the plants from the power grid.”
The war-time leader warned of the catastrophic consequences such attacks could trigger.
Zelensky previously cautioned a nuclear disaster at the Zaporizhzhia power plant – Europe‘s largest – could be as big as “six Chernobyls”.
In an interview with ABC News, Zelensky said the war could end as soon as next year.
Zelensky said: “I think that we are closer to peace than we think. We are closer to the end of the war.
“The plan for victory is to strengthen Ukraine. So we ask our friends, our allies to strengthen us. This is very important.”
The Ukrainian leader said in the interview that only from a “strong position” can Ukraine push Russian President Vladimir Putin “to stop the war.”
He said that the Kursk incursion exposed the weakness of Putin’s position, even though the Russian military continues to advance on its objectives in Donbas.
He added: “[Putin] is very afraid … Because his people saw that he can’t defend – that he can’t defend all his territory.”
These hypersonic nuclear missiles could strike “all other beautiful historical places that have long been included in the flight targets of our nuclear triad.”
Putin has also talked of extremely powerful weapons, including so-called ‘unstoppable’ missiles in his controversial interview with Tucker Carlson.
Saying: “We created hypersonic systems with intercontinental range, and we continue to develop them.
“We are now ahead of everyone, the United States and the other countries in terms of the development of hypersonic strike systems.
“And we are improving them every day.”
Putin has previously said he has the hardware for every scenario imaginable and has assured the world his artillery is capable of mass destruction.
Even going as far as to make a thinly-veiled threat to nuke the West before declaring he’s “not bluffing”.
He ordered Russia’s first mobilisation since World War Two, telling the West that if it continued what he called its “nuclear blackmail”, Moscow would respond with the might of all its vast arsenal.
