EastEnders in HUGE shake up as soap boss quits and is replaced by one from rival channel

EASTENDERS has been rocked by a huge shake-up as the soap’s boss has quit the programme.

Chris Clenshaw has been the Executive Producer of the BBC soap opera since 2022 but will be stepping down in February next year – coinciding with the show’s 40th anniversary.

Fans of EastEnders have largely praised Chris for turning the once-ailing soap’s fortunes around thanks to gritty plots, major character returns and the infamous The Six storyline that gripped the nation.

He will be replaced by Ben Wadley, who is moving to the BBC after a time spent working as the Commissioning Executive overseeing Hollyoaks.

Reflecting on his decision to leave, Chris confirmed in a statement that it was always his intention to leave after hitting the 40th anniversary milestone.

He said: “As a proud EastEnders fan, it has been the honour of my life to be its custodian. It has meant everything to me, and I’ve given Walford my all.

“I made the tough decision that I would step down after the 40th anniversary many months ago – to keep EastEnders creatively refreshed as it’s a show that needs to constantly evolve. After what will be three years at the helm and leading the team through its milestone celebrations, the time feels right that I hand over the keys to The Queen Vic.

“Elstree holds a special place in my heart, and I know when the day comes, it’ll be hard to tear myself away. My special thanks go to the sensational EastEnders cast and crew that I’m incredibly proud to have led over the past few years, and who have provided me with unwavering support.

“Their commitment, passion and talent has inspired me every day, and I am so grateful to them and proud of everything that we’ve achieved together.

“EastEnders has been the highlight of my career and I have loved every minute of it, but it’s time for change, and for a new chapter, and I’m delighted to be staying within BBC Studios Drama Productions. Although my departure from EastEnders is not for some time yet, whilst I’m still here, I look forward to putting all our efforts into our momentous anniversary.”

Watch as Polly breaks down in tears AGAIN after MAFS UK groom Adam awkwardly admits he STILL can’t say he fancies her

MARRIED At First Sight bride Polly Sellman breaks down in tears tonight after husband Adam Nightingale admits he still doesn’t fancy her.

The newlyweds’ relationship has been fraught with difficulties from the off, with Adam admitting Polly isn’t his type.

Adam said he ‘feels bad’ for his wife in a tense commitment ceremony[/caption]

Though the pair got along well on their honeymoon, the sexual chemistry was lacking and Adam can’t stop reminding her that he prefers petite brunettes.

In tonight’s commitment ceremony, he gets a grilling from show experts Mel Schilling and Paul C Brunson.

Adam says: “It’s a tricky one. She obviously really fancies me and I want to say it back to her but I can’t. She’s not my usual type but I’m hers.

“Don’t get me wrong, she’s a good looking girl and we get on like a house on fire, but I just feel bad for her.”

That last remark prompts smirks and raised eyebrows from the other couples around the room, and even Polly herself makes a face.

Paul then says: “It seems as if what you are actually doing is pushing yourself away from her.”

He adds that Adam could “understand he’s in an unnatural experiment” and go “all in”.

Paul and Mel then ask Polly how she feels.

She is composed at first, answering: “It’s not great, because obviously I know…”

But she then tails off as she grows visibly upset and utters: “I’m not… sorry.”

Lacey Martin, who is partnered with Nathan Campbell, can be seen getting upset for her on the sidelines.

Adam’s eyes brightened when he first met Lacey in last night’s show.

And Polly made it clear straight away that Lacey was Adam’s usual type, telling her co-star that she feared he might fancy her.

Some fans picked up on chemistry between Lacey and Adam as she positioned herself next to him on the sofa after learning she is what he usually goes for.

They now worry there could be further heartache for Polly as the two get better acquainted.

Suede season has officially arrived – how to style the ‘inbetweener’ jacket that’s everywhere this autumn

Suede jackets are topping everyone’s autumn wish-lists this season.

Suede made a big comeback over the summer with the rise of the boho trend, and it is here to stay for autumn thanks to designers such as Gucci, Max Mara and Miu Miu

Now, as we move into autumn, the trend shows no signs of fading, with high-street stores offering lots of great options.

These jackets are not only a versatile transitional piece, but also a social media hit, thanks to the fact that the chocolatey tone complements almost any neutral in your wardrobe.

The luxurious material can be dressed up or down depending on whether you are going old-money luxury or new-school cool.

While genuine suede options can be pricey, we’ve hit the jackpot on a more affordable alternative that’s equally impressive.

Here’s how our Fashion Team is styling the new ‘It-girl’ jacket of 2024…

  • Jeans, £85, Cos – BUY NOW
  • Sunglasses, £23, & Other Stories – BUY NOW
  • Bag, £99, Charles & Keith – BUY NOW
  • Shoes, £159, Arket – BUY NOW

I love the plush feel and rich colour of this faux suede jacket, and it’s a brilliant piece for making you’re whole outfit look expensive.

As I’m not feeling into a full-on autumn wardrobe yet, I’m lifting the chestnut colour with warm creams, like these barrel-shaped jeans and soft knit.

I’m also in love with these shoes from Arket and the high-shine, snake-effect leather will contrast nicely with the matte texture of the jacket.

Topped off with other tonal accessories like these aviator sunglasses and toffee-coloured tote, it makes the perfect, elevated weekend look.

  • Bag, £17,99, H&M – BUY NOW

A suede jacket is the top of my autumn wish ,list and I love this faux suede one from Bershka.

A lot of the other jackets I’ve seen are super-expensive, so this is a great price point, at under £50.

This kind of jacket will go with so much in my wardrobe – as well as more casual looks, I think it’s perfect to wear with dresses, too.

I’m loving the boho trend this season, so for this outfit, I’ve paired the jacket with this pink dress from Reserved.

Boots are a staple at this time of year and this brown pair from Steve Madden are a real investment that will last for years.

With some gold jewellery and a tonal brown bag to match, I’m ready for autumn.

Brown suede jackets are on every fashionista’s must-have list this autumn.

Why? They are the perfect off-duty casual-but-not-too-casual weekend jacket.

I’ll be wearing mine over a cream roll neck and a pair of white barrel leg jeans- Posh pub lunch totally sorted!

A brown suede jacket also looks great over a tonal midaxi dress if you wanted to dress it up even more.

And if you really don’t want faux suede, there are plenty of real suede vintage jackets on sites like Vinted and eBay.

  • Scarf, £270, Acne Studios – BUY NOW
  • Trainers, £49.99, Adidas at Deichmann – BUY NOW

I’m all in on the suede jacket trend and have been wearing one for the last two weeks already!

It’s perfect for this transitional weather and my wardrobe’s pretty neutral, so it fits right in.

Plus, at under £50, it’s a steal – and it even has pockets!

For a Skims dupe, head to Primark for this gym top – I’ve been wearing mine non-stop since I got it.

I style it with dark denim and my Acne scarf, but if that’s out of budget, the M&S version is almost identical and was a sell-out last year, so don’t wait!

Deichmann is really stepping up with these Adidas trainers that closely resemble the original Sambas, but without the £100 price tag.

Fabulous Fashion Editor On Autumn Trends

WANT to look fabulous this season? Then listen up...

Here, Fabulous’ fashion editor, Clemmie Fieldsend, says these are the top 5 trends from the hottest catwalk designers for autumn 2024.

BOHO: The boho revival is a much needed breath of fresh air for autumn and means you can wear your sheer tops, girly frocks and big jeans with heavy duty boots.

But if the clothes aren’t for you think, big accessories like slouchy tote bags, big earrings and bigger bangles.

TEXTURE: Be it smooth leather, sumptuous faux fur or soft suede, textures are everywhere this season.

They add depth to your look, making you stand out as well as look more expensive.

BURGUNDY: Maroon, oxblood, berry- whatever you choose to call it fashion is seeing red this autumn.

The deep and rich colour is everywhere and works best with greys, black, dark blues and in head-to-toe.

LADY LIKE: Matching top and cardigan sets and pencil skirts sound dated but they go hand-in-hand with lady-like.

Mix with satin cami dresses and waisted blazers for an ultra feminine look.

LEOPARD PRINT: This season 75% of the catwalk was leopard print, according to Tagwalk – a huge majority.

It crawled its way in last season but its rife for autumn and all over the high street, be it shoes or floor sweeping coats, it’s a must have trend.

Man Utd title winner looks unrecognisable as he joins former club for the third time at 35 in emotional reunion

A FORMER Manchester United star looks unrecognisable after returning to his boyhood club.

The ace spent two years at Old Trafford but crucially that included the 2012-13 season as Sir Alex Ferguson lifted his 13th Premier League title.

This former Manchester United star has rejoined his boyhood club for a third spell[/caption]

He only made five league appearances in his debut season after signing while in a chippy – even scoring and assisting in a 4-0 win over Wigan on his debut.

However, he was granted a winner’s medal after Fergie approved a special dispensation.

The footballer, 35, then scored on the final day of the season in a bonkers 5-5 draw with West Brom, the legendary Scot’s last match as boss.

He continued to play a back-up role in defence under David Moyes the following season.

However, he did rack up eight further Premier League games and 15 appearances in all competitions.

But the Dutchman was sold in 2014 to Dynamo Moscow and he has since had spells in Belgium, America and back in his homeland.

Now, though, he has penned a deal with Vitesse Arnhem in Holland’s second division – and rocks a totally different appearance from his Red Devils days with a new blonde hairstyle after ditching his iconic look.

The defender came through the academy at Vitesse having joined aged 16 following a stint with Ajax and made his name at the club to earn his Old Trafford transfer.

FOOTBALL FREE BETS AND SIGN UP DEALS

He returned to the GelreDome in January 2017 but left two-and-a-half years later – only to pen a fresh contract at the club in August 2024 at the age of 35.

But who is the mystery player, who has even launched a clothing brand as a lucrative side hustle?

It is none other than Alexander Buttner.

The left-back was famous for his Mohican during his time in England.

However, he struggled for regular minutes in the starting XI as he found himself behind Patrice Evra in the pecking order.

Buttner added the KNVB Cup with Vitesse in 2017 to go with his Premier League medal.

Despite representing the Netherlands at Under-19s and U20s level, he did not earn a senior cap for his country.

Ironically, Buttner is now a team-mate of his cousin Giovanni Buttner at Vitesse, who were relegated from the Eredivisie last season after finishing bottom.

The duo, born more than ten years apart, played together at De Graafschap and were reunited at Vitesse when Giovanni joined the club in September – a month after Alexander did the same.
