Sky Black Friday 2024: what to expect this November

SKY is one of the most popular providers in the UK, with a huge library of channels and tech to choose from – but it doesn’t come cheap.

So, when Sky’s Black Friday deals go live, it will be the perfect time to shop products and packages for less, as the company slashes prices on its TV, mobile, broadband, and more.

We’re looking forward to some unmissable Black Friday deals from Sky[/caption]

Sky deals

Sky’s Black Friday deals won’t be live until November, so keep checking back as you’ll find the best offers listed here.

The media juggernaut often bundles its deals, so you can save more by subscribing to multiple packages from the same provider.

In our experience, it’s well worth shopping around, especially for mobile and broadband deals, as you may find them cheaper elsewhere.

If you’re hard-pressed to pick which package is best for you, we’ve put two of Sky’s most innovative pieces of kit, Sky Glass vs Sky Stream, up against each other.

Read on for more Black Friday dates, details, and of course deals.

When is Black Friday 2024?

Black Friday will kick off on November 29, 2024.

The annual sales event follows Thanksgiving in the US, which always occurs on the fourth Thursday in November.

However, Sky has a habit of starting the party early with waves of great deals and bundles to shop.

Is Sky taking part in Black Friday this year?

Although details for 2024 have not yet been announced, according to Sky: ”Black Friday comes only once a year, and so do our amazing deals.”

So, if you want to save at Sky, Black Friday 2024 is the perfect time to do so.

Over the years, the company has treated customers to a variey of exclusive Black Friday offers from everything to entertainment and broadband to mobiles, and more.

There’s plenty of potential to save!

What to expect from Sky’s Black Friday sale in 2024

In the past, Sky have offered a range of deals on TV packages, broadband subscriptions, and mobile phone contracts.

In 2023, we saw up to 50% slashed off 100GB and 40GB plans on Sky Mobile, as well as money off Sky Glass packages.

We still need to wait a little longer to see what Sky is going to offer this year, but expect some great bargain bundles yet again.

Previously, Black Friday has been a good opportunity to find a saving on popular Sky TV packages, such as Sky Sports and entertainment channels.

More TV and Broadband Deals

What was in Sky’s sale last year?

Whether shoppers were looking to test run Sky, score a long-term plan, or bag a broadband package, Sky had plenty of Black Friday deals in 2023.

Here are just a few of our favourite offers from last year:

  • Sky Stream, Sky TV & Netflix, £19 per month (was £26p/m) from Sky – buy here
  • Sky Broadband Full Fibre 100, £28 per month for 18 months (was £38) from Sky – buy here
  • Sky Stream, Sky TV, Netflix & Superfast Broadband, £36 per month from Sky – buy here
  • 40GB of data for £12 per month (was £24) from Sky – buy here
  • Sky Cinema, £8 per month from Sky – buy here

When is Cyber Monday 2024 and is Sky taking part?

Cyber Monday always follows Black Friday weekend, but this year, it won’t be taking place in November.

Instead, in 2024, we will see Cyber Monday deals appear on December 2.

Seeing as Sky has partaken in the highly-anticipated sales over the last years, we’re betting that the company will cut prices across the site again in 2024.

Cyber Monday is usually the penultimate day of the sales for most, with some retailers even choosing to drop prices further in an attempt to make way for newer releases.

Is Black Friday a good time to buy TV or broadband?

Black Friday is a great time to shop for a new TV or broadband deal.

Many providers already offer discounts, so if you’ve let your introductory offer slip onto a rolling contract, switching providers or opting for a new package could save you a bundle.

TV and internet packages can’t sell out, so it’s well worth your time to check the offers during Black Friday to get the best deal for your budget.

What channels do you get with Sky?

The exact number of channels you’ll get with Sky depends on the package you purchase.

To give you an idea, the Sky Cinema bundle includes all Sky Originals and Sky Exclusives, plus over 50 channels you won’t find on Freeview – and Netflix is part of the deal.

You can find a full list of channels here.

How to get Sky TV

Luckily for shoppers, securing a Sky TV subscription is quite easy.

All you have to do is go to the official site, click on the “Get Started’ button, and then build the best TV package for you.

At the moment, the cheapest TV deal is £26 per month, but we expect that to change around the time of Black Friday.

It may be worth stepping up your game and scouring as many packages as you can while the sales last.

Is Sky Q worth having?

Sky Q replaced the old Sky+ box and now comes as standard in any Sky subscription – and it’s certainly a great product.

If you’re coming from an old Sky box or are used to this setup, Sky Q will be very familiar.

It allows you to record three things at the same time while watching a fourth.

Its newer functions include allowing you to stream your channels to one tablet, and can even act as a Wi-Fi hotspot.

With Sky Q, you can also purchase extra Mini boxes to access all your favourite channels on multiple TVs throughout your home.

But it may not be for everyone, especially since Sky Stream and Glass products don’t require satellite installation.

Wondering if you should commit to a traditional set-top box or switch to streaming?

You can find out more in our Sky Q vs Sky Stream head-to-head.

We found Stream ‘much easier to set up’ as it works straight out of the box and ‘connects you to Sky’s channels over the internet, via Wi-Fi or an ethernet connection.’

Does Sky Q require a dish in 2024?

Yes, to receive the Sky signal, you will need a dish, as Sky TV is provided by satellite.

The good news is, if a dish is already installed on your property, Sky will send an engineer to connect you.

Or, if you want to be ahead of the curve, the company is home to Sky Glass – its high-end TV that doesn’t require a satellite dish or box.

Head over to our Sky Glass TV review to find out more.

How to get your Pension Credit claim accepted as over a third REJECTED – and why you should always try again

MORE than a third of Pension Credit applications were rejected last year, according to official figures seen by The Sun.

Pension Credit is a vital benefit which is designed to top up the income of the UK’s poorest pensioners.

Last year 83,168 applications for Pension Credit were rejected[/caption]

It is currently worth up to £218.15 a week if you are single or £332.95 if you are in a couple.

There were 214,309 applications for Pension Credit in the last financial year, according to figures from the Department for Work and Pensions.

Of these applications 83,168, or 39%, were rejected and 130,366 claims were approved.

The fresh figures come from a Freedom of Information (FOI) request by The Sun and cover around 85% of all pension credit claims made in the 2023/24 financial year.

This year Pension Credit is especially vital as the Government recently changed the rules on who will receive the Winter Fuel Payment, which is worth up to £300 a year.

From this winter the payment will be limited to people who receive Pension Credit and other means-tested benefits.

As a result, the number of households making a claim for Pension Credit has increased by 152%.

The DWP has received around 74,400 applications in the eight weeks since the announcement on July 29.

In comparison, there were just 29,500 claims in the eight weeks before the announcement.

Despite the surge in the numbers applying for Pension Credit, it is estimated that hundreds of thousands of eligible households are still missing out.

Around 880,000 families who were entitled to receive the benefit did not claim it in the 2022 financial year, the DWP said.

Why are claims rejected?

There are several reasons why a claim would be rejected and all relate to whether the person claiming it meets the rules, says Sam Alwyine-Mosely, a senior press officer at Citizens Advice.

The main reason that an application may be rejected is simply because the person claiming is not eligible for Pension Credit.

This could be because their income is too high, they have not yet reached the state pension age or they do not live in the UK.

However, just because your claim has been rejected before does not mean that you will never be able to successfully apply for Pension Credit.

Sir Steve Webb, a former pensions minister and a consultant at law firm Lane Clark and Peacock, said: “Apply again in due course even if you are turned down initially.”

“You can always apply again later in retirement if something changes such as starting to claim a disability benefit, losing a spouse or partner or running down your savings.”

Pension Credit explained

Pension Credit is a benefit which gives you extra money to help with your living costs if you’re on a low income in retirement.

It can also help with housing costs such as ground rent or service charges.

You may be able to get extra help of you’re a carer, have a disability, or are responsible for a child.

It also opens up access to lots of other benefits such as the warm home discount scheme, support for mortgage interest, council tax discounts, free TV licences once you’re over 75, and help with NHS costs.

To qualify, you need to be over state pension age and live in EnglandScotland or Wales.

If you have a partner, you need to include them on your claim.

Pension Credit tops up:

  • your weekly income to £218.15 if you’re single
  • your joint weekly income to £332.95 if you have a partner

However, even if your income is higher, you might still qualify if you have a disability or caring responsibilities.

There is also another element to Pension Credit called savings credit. To get this, you need to have saved some money towards your retirement.

You can get an extra £17.01 a week for a single person or £19.04 a week for a married couple.

If you have more than £10,000 in savings, the government uses a calculation to work out how much it adds to your income.

Every £500 over £10,000 counts as £1 income a week. For example, if you have £11,000 in savings, this counts as £2 income a week.

He adds: “It is vital that as many people who may be entitled to put in a claim. Make a claim in any case. The worst that can happen is that they decide you are not entitled.”

Another common reason that an application may not be granted is because it did not contain enough evidence.

It is important to provide as much detail as possible when you submit a benefit claim.

This can also help to reduce the time it takes for Pension Credit to be granted and avoid back and forth with the DWP.

Meanwhile, the third reason that many Pension Credit applications are not rubber-stamped is due to errors in the form.

Without the correct information the DWP cannot verify whether you are eligible for Pension Credit and your application will be rejected.

If you make a mistake when filling out the form you can just cross it out and put your initials next to it.

You do not need to complete another application form.

Sam adds: “Applicants need to ensure they fill in the form correctly and supply all the information requested about their income and identity to ensure their application is granted.”

But the application form itself can be a barrier that stops families from accessing the vital support they need.

Dennis Reed, of campaign group Silver Voices, said: “The application process for Pension Credit is ridiculously complex with over 230 questions, preferably completed online.

“It is also highly intrusive asking for minute detail on the income and circumstances of the applicant and their partner.

“These two disadvantages together prevent hundreds of thousands of older people applying for the help they obviously need.”

But there are steps you can take to make sure your claim is approved and you get the cash you’re entitled to – including getting free help to complete your application.

How to make sure that your claim is approved

Always check that you meet the eligibility criteria before you apply for Pension Credit.

To claim online visit gov.uk.

You can also apply by phone by calling 0800 991234 on weekdays between 8am and 6pm.

A family member can make the call for you but you must be present when the application is made.

It can be helpful to have your National Insurance number, information about your income, savings, investments and pension to hand.

If you need help or advice during the application process then contact your local Citizens Advice or get in touch with the charity Age UK.

If you need help completing your application then you can call the free Age UK advice line on 0800 678 1602.

The lines are open from 8am to 7pm, 365 days a year.

How to appeal the decision

If you claim is rejected and you disagree with the decision then you can ask the DWP for a “written statement of reasons”.

This statement explains why the decision was made.

If you still believe the decision is wrong then you can ask for the DWP to look at your application again.

This is called a “mandatory reconsideration” and is free to ask for.

What will I get when I claim Pension Credit?

SOME people will receive thousands of pounds once they claim Pension Credit, while others will be given just pennies.

But it is still worth making a claim either way as it opens the door to more financial help.

Once you claim Pension Credit you may receive:

  • Housing Benefit if you rent – worth thousands a year.
  • Mortgage Interest support – on up to £100,000 of your mortgage or loan.
  • Council tax discount – worth thousands each year.
  • Free TV licence if you are aged over 75 – worth £169.50 a year.
  • NHS dental treatmentglasses and transport costs for hospital appointments help.
  • Royal Mail redirection service discount – worth up to £48.
  • Warm Home Discount if you get Guaranteed Pension Credit – worth £150.
  • Cold Weather Payment – worth £25 for every seven day period of cold weather between November 1 and March 31.
  • Winter Fuel Allowance – worth up to £300 a year.

You can ask the DWP to look at your application again if:

  • You think the office that dealt with your claim made an error or missed important evidence
  • You disagree with the reason for the decision
  • You want the decision to be looked at again

Another option is to go through the appeal process.

During this process you will need to provide evidence to a tribunal and appear at a hearing.

You only have a month to dispute a decision, so you need to seek advice quickly.

But you can ask for it after one month if you have a good reason, for example if you have been in hospital or had a bereavement.

Visit gov.uk/mandatory-reconsideration for more information and to start the process.

A DWP spokesperson said: “We are committed to supporting pensioners and our drive to boost uptake of Pension Credit has already seen a 152% increase in claims.

“To help make Pension Credit applications as accurate as possible, we continue to urge people to check their eligibility via gov.uk for a benefit that could be worth on average £3,900 per year.”

Beloved grandad, 75, choked to death on chicken nuggets at care home, inquest told

A 75-YEAR-OLD grandad tragically choked to death on chicken nuggets at a care home, an inquest heard.

Dementia sufferer Bob Buckley was a known choke risk and required specialist care with meals during his stay at The Chase in Canterbury, Kent.

Dementia sufferer Bob Buckley choked to death on chicken nuggets

But after staff “neglected” their duties, the 75-year-old was seen turning “blue in the face” before suffocating, the coroners’ court was told.

The hearing today at Oakwood House in Maidstone was told how Mr Buckley was known to ‘pouch’ his food – holding items in his mouth for long periods – and prone to eating quickly, a risk flagged by his wife.

Coroner Ian Brownhill said: “The food was not cut into small pieces, and paramedics were surprised at the size of the food removed from Bob’s airway.”

The court was told a staff member referred to only as ‘Carer 1’ physically handed Mr Buckley the fatal plate of food.

Mr Brownhill continued: “Carer 1 handed Bob the plate of food at tea time. She also plated the food, which he ate.

“She previously said the plates were pre-prepared, but this does not accord with what she told police after his death.”

Mr Brownhill recorded a narrative conclusion of neglect, adding: “Bob had been identified as a risk of choking despite the fact that those caring for Bob did not properly mitigate this risk.

“They did not cut up his food or monitor him closely enough.

“This led to his death.”

I’m 59 with the biological age of 21 – I have no wrinkles thanks to a £4 beauty product I swear by using every night

DESPITE being nearly 60, Leslie Kenny has the biological age of a youthful 21-year-old, according to a scientific test.

After a health scare at 39 where she was told she may only have “five good years” of health left, Leslie decided to overhaul her health and has wound back the clock in the process.

Leslie Kenny shared how she’s wound back her biological age clock
Leslie Kenny

She’s now spent two decades discovering the secrets of a youthful life and has put her three autoimmune diseases – lupus, rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and Hashimoto’s disease – into remission.

Although looking 21 years of age may be a stretch, Leslie does appear younger than her years.

And thankfully she’s revealed her essentials for defying the signs of aging without using Botox.

FACE TAPING

Leslie said face-taping is a “fantastic” alternative to Botox.

She uses Japanese Face Tape from The Natural Faces, which is made from “gentle” material.

“It involves using special tape to prevent facial movement during sleep and thus, prevent new wrinkles from forming,” she said.

While these can set you back £21 for a back, Temu do a £4 version to save you some pennies.

AVOID INFLAMMATORY FOODS

When she was diagnosed with her autoimmune diseases, she immediately took an allergy test which revealed she had sensitivities to gluten and dairy.

She immediately cut out both – alongside sugar and  alcohol.

Leslie also avoids carbohydrates apart from sweet potatoes and “white basmati rice that has been cooked and left to cool, then drizzled with coconut oil.”

Speaking to The Times, she said: “The same foods won’t cause a reaction in everyone, so it’s important to find out if you have any sensitivities of your own.”

TAKES SUPPLEMENTS

Leslie claims she doesn’t have grey hair thanks to her ‘health hacking’[/caption]

Kenny said there isn’t a “one size fits all” approach to health but people should start by examining the root cause of premature aging.

“Often, grey hair is a great visible indicator of what’s going on within, and its cause can be different for everyone,” she said.

“Despite common misconceptions, gray hair isn’t a given.”

She said nutritional deficiencies such as vitamin D, B12, iron, or spermidine are among the causes.

Alternatively, thyroid problems such as hypothyroidism or stress-related glutathione depletion.

“We must identify the cause with a detailed blood panel before we can rectify the issue,” she said.

“I am 59 and I have no gray hair because I was able to balance my nutritional profile and get my thyroid issues under control.”

PACKS IN COLLAGEN

Leslie frequently eats “collagen-rich foods” such as bone broth and takes supplements like Davinia Taylor’s Will Powder, which is made from grass-fed Swedish bovine.

She also takes four tablespoons of collagen daily.

The dosage of collagen to take varies for each person depending on their age and needs.

“While I’m sure you have heard of collagen, you might not know about spermidine,” she said.

FASTS REGULARLY

Leslie fasts for around 18 hours most days, having coffee with antioxidant-rich raw cacao and coconut creamer for breakfast, lunch at 1pm and dinner at 7pm.

She mainly eats plant-based meals but does consume oily fish, eggs and small portions of “high quality” meat.

Some experts have found that fasting can add the body’s cellular renewal process and reduce chronic inflammation, often linked to obesity, type 2 diabetes and heart disease.

How to reverse ageing in just 2 weeks, according to royal go-to nutritionist

LONDON -based Gabriela Peacock, who has helped the likes of Prince Harry and Princess Eugenie prepare for their weddings.

She told Fabulous: “The science is evident that we all have the power to make simple life changing alterations to better our future selves – no matter what genetic hand we might have been dealt with.

“The reality is, we all sometimes indulge in unhealthy eating habits like processed foods, smoking cigarettes, drinking too much alcohol, inhaling city pollutants, and even drinking water from plastic bottles – none of this is good for us.

“All this does is promote the ageing process, but we all have the potential to change this.”

It may be hard, but try to keep away from sugary carbohydrates, because they feed chronic inflammation, which is one of the worst enemies of reversing ageing.

Now only will you end up putting on weight if you consume them regularly, but your energy and hormonal levels will be affected and this will influence how you look and feel.

Whatever your age or state of health, it’s never too late to reverse how quickly you are ageing and embrace the energy and vigour of a younger you.

Antioxidants, such as vitamins A, C, and E, are essential in neutralising free radicals—the culprits behind premature ageing.

Integrating a spectrum of colourful fruits and vegetables into your diet provides a potent source of antioxidants.

Omega-3 fatty acids, abundant in fatty fish like salmon and flaxseeds, are vital for maintaining skin elasticity and hydration.

Omega-3s act as nourishment for your skin, locking in moisture and diminishing fine lines and wrinkles.

Collagen, a structural protein dwindling with age, can be replenished through collagen-rich foods like bone broth and lean protein sources.

DOES ‘INVERSION’ SHOULDER STANDS

Leslie’s favourite way to relax, she claims, is to invert herself upside down with shoulder stands.

To achieve this, raise your hips above your heart and your heart above your head.

Although she does this six times a day on a special inversion chair from Feet Up that cost £189, you can achieve the yoga move without any machinery.

However, it is not advised for those with high blood pressure, and it avoids putting strain on your wrists or elbows.

Beginners can rest legs up against a wall if they need aid.

SLEEP BEFORE MIDNIGHT

Leslie ensures she gets one or two hours of sleep before midnight to maximise its restorative benefits, and aims to get seven hours a night in total.

Experts say the hours between 10pm and 2am and crucial for non-REM (rapid eye movement) sleep, when the body repairs tissue and strengthens the immune system.

Leslie said: “To reduce inflammaging [age-related increases in levels of inflammatory markers] it’s essential to ensure you get a good night’s sleep.”

Zelda fans love playing as the titular princess in this interesting twist on the series

THE LEGEND of Zelda has often been credited with popularising open-world games, and in its 28-year history we’ve always played as Link.

That’s why people were so excited to get their hands on Echoes of Wisdom, the first mainline game where the titular Zelda is the main character.

a video game character is riding a small brown horse
Nintendo
Echoes of Wisdom takes inspiration from Breath of the Wild[/caption]

We might have used Zelda’s powers in Super Smash Bros., Hyrule Warrior or Cadence of Hyrule, but not in the main games.

It’s not a The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild-style epic, and is more reminiscent of Link’s Awakening, but fans will take it.

Instead of playing like a reskin of Link, she has a whole new suite of powers, which are more reminiscent of her style.

While efforts have been made to differentiate her from Link, you’ll find that she moves similar to Link in Link’s Awakening, and generally you’ll forget you’re playing as Zelda.

She can use a sword and shield like Link, but she is best off using the Tri Rod to spawn echoes of items she’s encountered.

Combat then plays more like a mini RTS where you spawn various enemies you’ve encountered to take down new foes.

Experimenting with each monster’s strengths and weaknesses is all part of the fun.

This does have the side effect of making things easier as you go on. Once you have a large roster of enemies, you can sit back and watch them fight.

Once your echo is destroyed, you can put those resources into something else without a cooldown period, making it feel risk-free.

You also use echoes for exploration, but we found that most puzzles can be solved by stacking beds.

There are echoes that work better than using beds to make spiral staircases, but you will be able to use them throughout if you want.

It does take inspiration from Breath of the Wild, giving the player more freedom than most top-down Zelda games.

The design philosophies from these bigger Zelda games can clearly be seen throughout, pushing you to try things you might not think possible.

We were pleased to see the return of standard Zelda dungeons with small keys, maps, and compasses to find.

This does mean that bosses that take unreasonable amounts of damage return, but if you’re a long-time Zelda fan, it’s what you will expect.

There are also caves similar to shrines and these add an additional welcome challenge.

Overall there are some small issues which prevent us from calling Echoes of Wisdom a masterpiece, but even an average Zelda game is still excellent.

The new gameplay style completely changes how top-down Zelda games are played, and gives a new breath of life into the series.

It’s a welcome return to Hyrule, and we hope that Nintendo will continue with these smaller experimental Zelda games in between their open-world epics.

Incredible moment rarely seen bigfin squid with 13ft tentacles is caught on camera in world’s second deepest trench

THIS is the incredible moment a bigfin squid with 13ft tentacles was spotted lurking 20,000 feet below the surface.

A team of researchers made the incredible find using cameras which they lowered to the bottom of the Tonga Trench in the South Pacific.

There have only been around a dozen sightings of the species worldwide[/caption] tonga trench is the world 's second deepest ocean trench behind the mariana trench

“We always hope to see this type of animal,” Alan Jamieson, a professor and deep-sea scientist at the University of Western Australia who collected the footage, told Live Science in an email.

“[Bigfin squid] are not something you would actively go looking for, they are a species that relies on us coming across them by accident.”

Most documented bigfin squid sightings are “serendipitous filming from oil and gas activities,” Jamieson said.

Bigfin squid are very rare to spot.

They’re known for their long tentacles that can grow up to 26 feet long.

Only about a dozen sightings of them have been confirmed worldwide.

The squid the researchers saw didn’t seem to have the long extensions that the adult bigfins have so it was determined to be a young squid.

Previously, the deepest bigfin squid recorded was spotted around 15,400 feet deep.

That was in the Kermadec Trench in the Pacific Ocean.

Scientists get excited when they find a squid in deep and largely unexplored parts of the ocean because it means there’s likely more life down there.

Squids are large predators and they’re usually on the hunt for food so the young bigfin’s next meal was likely somewhere 20,341 feet below the surface.

ANOTHER BIGFIN FIND

It comes after researchers laid eyes on a bigfin squid in the Philippine Sea back in January 2022.

The squid was spotted deep in the Philippine Trench.

According to CBC, Zoologist Mike Vecchione told As It Happens host Carol Off: “It was exciting for me.

“I’ve been looking for cephalopods from these really ultra-deep environments for quite a long time.”

Vecchione reviewed the footage and still images of the squid for the explorers.

The Tonga Trench

Located in the southwest Pacific Ocean and at the northern end of the Kermadec Tonga Subduction Zone, the Tonga Trench lies around 10.882 km below sea level.

The deepest point in the Tonga trench, known as the Horizon Deep, is considered the second deepest point on Earth after the Challenger Deep and the deepest trench in the Southern Hemisphere.

Researchers have also found that these plate movements cause large volcanoes in the Japan and Mariana Trench. According to marine scientists, the sediments of the Horizon Deep house a community of roundworms.

The researchers published evidence of their big squid find in the journal Marine Biology last month

It includes a shadowy image of the squid that was deep under the sea.

As soon as Vecchione saw the image he said he knew it was bigfin squid.

He said: “It’s got a really big fin compared to the size of its body.

“But really, the most remarkable thing about it is, squids have eight arms plus two tentacles, which are modified arms.

“But in bigfin squids, the tentacles look very much like the other arms, and all 10 of these appendages have long, spaghetti-like extensions at the tips of them.”

The squid the researchers saw didn’t seem to have the long extensions that the adult bigfin’s have so it was determined to be a young squid.

Yorkshire-born Hardy has risen through the amateur ranks and is a two-time national champion.

And the secret to the fighter’s success is his work on the family farm.

The super bantamweight is a fourth generation farmer and has been nicknamed “The Farm Boy” – even having the slogan written on his shorts.

His barn doubles up as a gym and a place to keep all his machinery, with Hardy confident that he punches above his weight due to his efforts on the land.

He told the BBC: “It keeps me fit when I am going round the yard.

“I’m working, I’m busy and active so it gives me that physical strength over an opponent who is just training.”

But despite launching his pro career, Hardy has no plans to ditch his double life, saying: “I want to be a professional boxer and work my way up to the top, winning many titles.

“But I also want to keep farming as well because I enjoy it, it is my passion and I have been brought up with it. Hopefully I can keep it working side-by-side.”

His father James got him into boxing at the age of eight and he calls Ricky Hatton his biggest inspiration.

Hardy gets a few hours off his shift every day to head to Sheffield‘s Steel City Gym or to use the makeshift one on the farm.

He revealed: “We have got a pull-up bar in one of the sheds, a rope dangling from one of the ceilings and a few old tyres to do my strength and conditioning – they weigh a bit.

“I’ll be doing a job, pull off for a few sets of pull-ups, then carry on.”

Hardy has turned pro after missing out on a place at the Paris Olympics with Team GB.

'Are you not entertained? I'm a gladiator' - What Dubois and Joshua said after brutal fight

DANIEL DUBOIS annihilated Anthony Joshua’s dream of becoming a three-time world heavyweight champion, writes Wally Downes Jr.

Joshua was floored FOUR times as Dubois landed an astonishing fifth-round knockout in front of a record 96,000 Wembley crowd and millions of TV viewers to retain his IBF belt.

AJ, 34, never recovered after being downed in the first round of last night’s Battle of Britain showdown as a huge Dubois right-hand haymaker caught him flush on the chin.

Here’s what they said after the fight:

DANIEL DUBOIS

“Are you not entertained? I’m a gladiator, a warrior to the bitter end. This is the biggest win of my career. I couldn’t let this opportunity go and now I want to go to the top level of this game.

“I’ve been on a roller-coaster ride and this is my time. I’m not gonna stop until I reach my full potential.”

ANTHONY JOSHUA

“As p***ed off as I am, it is what it is.

“I had a sharp, fast opponent and there were a lot of mistakes from me. Credit to my opponent and his team.

“We rolled the dice and came up short. You know I’m p***ed but I’m going to keep cool and give respect to my opponent.”

FRANK WARREN (DUBOIS’ PROMOTER)

“It was a phenomenal fight, like  Hagler v Hearns.

“A brilliant fight and everybody has seen a champion’s performance tonight.

“Daniel has shown his courage, his skills.

“AJ caught him with a shot towards the end and I was worried, but what a fabulous, fantastic fight.”

EDDIE HEARN (AJ’S PROMOTER)

“AJ shipped a huge right hand  in the first round and  was fighting on heart.

“He hurt Daniel at the end of the fourth and then again in the fifth, but got greedy and walked on to a right hand and that’s all she wrote.

“I’m sure Anthony will exercise the rematch clause.”
