I forked out to laser my freckles off but now miss them… I use a £7 Boots buy to draw them back on, says Olivia Attwood

HONOURING her natural beauty has been an easy progression for Olivia Attwood over the last year.

And part of that entails drawing freckles on her face… as she “paid a fortune” to have them all lasered off a few years ago.

She’s even resorted to drawing her freckles back on after getting them lasered off[/caption]

When appearing on the third season of Love Island in 2017, 33-year-old Olivia’s forehead and cheeks were dotted with freckles.

They were a stand-out part of her look.

So much so, her boyfriend at the time (fellow villa alum Chris Hughes) even said: “Your freckles are one of my favourite sights.”

But after getting them zapped off with an intense laser in 2023, Olivia has now resorted to drawing them back on… one by one.

Taking to TikTok, the Bad Boyfriends presenter addressed the “hilarious irony” or her beauty dilemma.

“I paid a fortune to have basically all of my freckles lasered off with PhotoFabulous,” she said.

PhotoFabulous uses a combination of intense pulse light and a non-ablative laser to blast unwanted pigmentation from the face.

Olivia had the treatment done at Dr. Saleena Zimri’s Skin Doctor clinic in Manchester ahead of her lavish wedding to footballer Bradley Dack in June 2023.

She even filmed herself getting the painful beauty treatment done for her ITV show, Olivia Marries Her Match

But now, missing her freckles and looking to nail a more natural look, she has resorted to drawing faux ones on her face with an eyebrow pencil.

“I just draw them back on,” Olivia admitted.

“I just go in little twisty motions.”

The exact make-up product she uses is the Max Factor Brow Shaper pencil – and it’s currently on sale in Boots for £7.19.

According to the Skin Doctor website, Olivia’s PhotoFabulous treatment costs anywhere from £400 upwards per sitting.

And typically, you’ll need three to five sessions for it to actually give you a flawless face.

Fans were shocked by Olivia’s revelation.

“Freckles lasered off? We can do that now?” Gee Race commented under her TikTok video.

“You look so pretty with and without freckles,” another penned.

Darkest soap storylines

Over the years the likes of EastEndersEmmerdale and Coronation Street have all tried to try outdo each other with their outlandish plots in a bid to keep us tuning in each week. But here are some of the darkest that had fans in shock…

  • EastEnders: Tony grooming Whitney (2008-2009) – Tony King first appeared in Albert Square in 2008 as the boyfriend of Bianca, played by Patsy Palmer. But it was quickly revealed he was a paedophile who had been grooming vulnerable Whitney, Bianca’s adopted stepdaughter from a previous relationship, since she was 12. The shocking storyline attracted more than 200 complaints within a week of it beginning. Whitney waited until her 16th birthday to reveal the truth to a horrified Bianca, who called the police.
  • Emmerdale: Holly’s drug addiction and shock death (2010-2016) – In 2010, Holly Barton (played by Sophie Powles) became Emmerdale’s first teenage drug addict. The shocking storyline saw her taking cocaine on a night out before developing a deadly heroin habit. Parents John and Moira desperately tried to help get their daughter clean but when Holly returned in 2016, following a four-year absence, she quickly relapsed. Fans were left stunned and heartbroken when distraught Moira found Holly dead in her bed from a heroin overdose.
  • Hollyoaks: Luke’s rape (2000) – Actor Gary Lucy was just 17 when he took on this groundbreaking storyline, which saw his character Luke Morgan become soap’s first male rape victim. Luke had endured a long-running bullying campaign by football rival Mark Gibbs – who raped him after Luke stood up to him. Luke was left suicidal following the brutal attack, before opening up to his brother Adam. Gibbs was sentenced to eight years in prison. Gary won the Best Actor gong at the British Soap Awards in 2000 for his performance.
  • Coronation Street: Evil Richard Hillman (2001-2003) – Just a mere mention of ‘Richard Hillman’ is enough to send a shiver down the spines of soap fans. He is often ranked one of the most evil soap villains and it’s not hard to see why. The smooth-talking financial adviser bashed his ex-wife Patricia over the head with a shovel. In a bid to keep his mother-in-law Audrey quiet, he set fire to her house. And when Maxine caught him trying to murder Emily Bishop, he took a crowbar to her head. He made his exit from the cobbles in 2003 when he drove Gail Platt, played by Helen Worth, and her family into the canal. They survived, but he didn’t.

But she will struggle to move on from her abuser’s shock death[/caption]

In scenes next week, EastEnders will see Pastor Clayton desperately try to get Yolande to change her statement against him before committing suicide off-screen.

Yolande stands her ground against him and feels strongly about her decision, knowing she’s done the right thing.

But at the end of the evening, as Patrick (Rudolph Walker) and Yolande make to call it a night, they are interrupted by the police, who reveal the news about Pastor Clayton.

Soap fans can expect to see Yolande struggle in the wake of her abuser’s death.

As Yolande reels, her family tries to rally round her, and she leans on Patrick for support.

But after questioning her next move, Yolande is interrupted by Pastor Clayton’s wife Stella (Velile Tshabalala), who arrives out of the blue.

What does she want from Yolande?

Earlier this year, Yolande bravely opened up about her sexual assault at the Pastor’s hands.

With the storyline spanning several months, horrifying scenes in April saw the Pastor sexually assault Yolande following previous over-familiar behaviour.

She struggled to stop herself from breaking down and rushed into the launderette in the aftermath.

Although she reported the villain to police, there initially wasn’t enough evidence.

However, things had started to look up when police decide to charge him with two counts of assault.

Yolande also came forward about what happened to her within her church community.

Since the assault, Yolande has sought justice and became aware of other women targeted by Pastor Clayton.

    Best soap affair love triangles

LOVE triangles are a fundamental part of soap-land, but which ones have become the most iconic?

    EASTENDERS

Bradley/Stacey/Max: Stacey Slater began an affair with boyfriend Bradley Branning’s dad Max in 2007.

Despite their romps, Stacey still married Bradley, but their deceit came out in an iconic Christmas Day episode that year.

Grant/Sharon/Phil: Heading even further back in Walford history, EastEnders fans were gripped in the 90s as Sharon Watts had a one-night stand with her brother-in-law Phil Mitchell.

Sharon confided in best friend Michelle Fowler – not realising it was caught on tape – and her husband Grant eventually found out and played it in front of everyone at the Queen Vic.

Syed/Amira/Christian: Syed Masood was engaged to Amira before realising he had feelings for another man, Christian, which he confessed to him on his wedding day.

A devout Muslim, Syed refused to admit his true sexuality and went ahead and married Amira anyway, but when they returned, the two men started an affair before being caught in the act by Amira.

    CORONATION STREET

Shelley/Peter/Lucy: Peter Barlow took the concept of a love triangle and ran with it in Coronation Street – extending it to bigamy.

He was in a relationship with Shelley Unwin but started dating Lucy Richards, and quickly married her after she fell pregnant with his son, Simon.

But it didn’t stop him also marrying Shelley, but he was eventually caught when Lucy turned up in Weatherfield and the two women confronted him.

Ken/Deidre/Mike: Back in 1982, Deirdre Barlow started sleeping with her husband’s nemesis Mike Baldwin in secret, before confessing all a year later.

When Mike turned up at the marital home, Deirdre was being throttled by her husband who then kicked her out, but years later they reconciled.

Maria/Aidan/Eva: In 2017, Aidan Connor started sleeping with girlfriend Eva Price’s best friend, Maria Connor.

Eva eventually found out and she decided to take revenge by faking a pregnancy, spending his money and planned to confront him on their wedding day.

But she had a change of heart when a remorseful Aidan confessed, and decided to marry him anyway, only for Maria to arrive and expose her fake pregnancy.

    EMMERDALE

Ross/Debbie/Pete: Debbie Dingle found herself torn between two brothers, Ross and Pete Barton in 2015 in Emmerdale.

She eventually decided to marry Pete but yet again, a soap wedding day was ruined when the groom learned of his bride’s betrayal via a recording played at the wedding.

Chrissie/Robert/Aaron: Robert Sugden was married to Chrissie White and all seemed well – until he began a steamy affair with Aaron Dingle.

Robert’s ex Katie Sugden almost exposed the affair – but fell to her death before she had the chance.

However, a guilty Aaron eventually cracked and told Chrissie about the affair – after which she announced it to the whole pub.

Arthur tries to show his maturity to April by flirting with John.

Arthur lies to April he had sex with John.

Hearing the conversation, Laurel is furious, heading off to find John on a warpath.

When Laurel enters the Woolpack to confront John, Arthur enters, mortified as John denies his accusations.

Soon, Arthur lets slip about Laurel and Charles’ fling which is overheard by a flabbergasted Jai.

In the photo, Maggie, who died aged 89, gently held Emma’s face in a tender moment.

The beloved actress played Professor Minerva McGonagall in the blockbuster film franchise.

Crew and other cast members smiled at the two women as they took a break from filming a scene from Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2.

“When I was younger I had no idea of Maggie’s legend – the woman I was fortunate enough to share space with,” Emma wrote.

“It is only as I’ve become an adult that I’ve come to appreciate that I shared the screen with a true definition of greatness.

‘She was real, honest, funny and self-honouring. Maggie, there were a lot of male professors and by God you held your own.

“Thank you for all of your kindness. I’ll miss you,” she added.

Maggie passed away “peacefully” inside a hospital on September 27.

Maggie was also well-known for bringing her scathing wit to other roles, including as Violet Crawley in Downton Abbey.

Her sons Chris Larkin and Toby Stephens said she died in hospital early this morning.

In a statement issued via their publicist, they said: “It is with great sadness we have to announce the death of Dame Maggie Smith.

“She passed away peacefully in hospital early this morning, Friday September 27.

“An intensely private person, she was with friends and family at the end.”

The statement adds: “She leaves two sons and five loving grandchildren who are devastated by the loss of their extraordinary mother and grandmother.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank the wonderful staff at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital for their care and unstinting kindness during her final days.

“We thank you for all your kind messages and support and ask that you respect our privacy at this time.”

The King called her a “national treasure” in his statement.

“As the curtain comes down on a national treasure, we join all those around the world in remembering with the fondest admiration and affection her many great performances, and her warmth and wit that shone through both off and on the stage.”

Stars of the TV and film world have also paid tribute to the acting icon.

Former co-star Rupert Grint, who played Ron Weasley in Harry Potter, changed his Instagram profile picture to an image of himself being kissed on the cheek by Dame Maggie.

Hugh Bonneville, who played the son of Dame Maggie’s character in Downton Abbey, said: “Anyone who ever shared a scene with Maggie will attest to her sharp eye, sharp wit and formidable talent.

“She was a true legend of her generation and thankfully will live on in so many magnificent screen performances.

“My condolences to her boys and wider family.”

US actress Whoopi Goldberg said she felt “lucky” to have worked alongside her.

The actors starred together in Sister Act, where Dame Maggie played Reverend Mother Superior while Goldberg portrayed Deloris Van Cartier.

Whoopi shared an old picture of the two on set, dressed as nuns, on Instagram and described her as a “great woman”.

She wrote: “Maggie Smith was a great woman and a brilliant actress. I still can’t believe I was lucky enough to work with the ‘one-of-a-kind’. My heartfelt condolences go out to the family… RIP.”

TV presenter Gyles Brandreth, meanwhile, described her as “wise, witty, waspish, wonderful”.

Sharing a photo of them together, he wrote: “The saddest news: the death of Dame Maggie Smith marks the end of a golden era & a quite extraordinary life.

“She was a truly great actress, ‘one of the greats’ & simply the best company: wise, witty, waspish, wonderful.

“One of a kind in every way and consequently irreplaceable.”
