Paddy McGuinness’ new BBC show slammed as ‘the Grand Tour on the cheap’ as he reunites with Top Gear co-star

VIEWERS of Paddy Guinness’ brand new programme have been left majorly underwhelmed by the show and have blasted it as “The Grand Tour on the cheap”.

The TV presenter, 51, was back on screens with a brand new motoring show following the permanent axing of the BBC‘s Top Gear.

Top Gear was officially pulled as a show last year following lead host Freddie Flintoff‘s life-changing accident which saw him receive a seven-figure payout.

Freddie’s co-stars have since reunited for a brand new motoring show in order to replace the axed format.

Paddy teamed up with Chris Harris for their new show, Road Tripping, but it seemed that it left more to be desired as fans had their say on the re-formatted show.

In the first episode of the series, Paddy and Chris are sent on a road trip across Sweden in order to find the secret of how to age gracefully.

However, as the pair began to discuss the two motors they had brought along for the ride, Paddy was forced to interrupt Chris and remind him what show they were fronting.

Motoring journalist Chris was quick to want to dissect each part of the car, much like his Top Gear role, but Paddy was quickly forced to remind him that it was not the same show and he would have to keep it short and sweet.

As Chris began to talk about their set of wheels, Paddy joked to the camera: “We might be here for some time, do yourself a brew. I had to let him do a little bit of something with cars!”

But as Chris continued, Paddy brutally stepped in and told him that he “needed to stop”.

The former Take Me Out host said: “As I said earlier, that’s the other show, right?

“You’ve got to stop doing that on this trip. It’s not going to wash.

“A different set of viewers, just putting it out there.”

Clearly disheartened, it seemed Chris was still pining over his lost job role on Top Gear as he said: “Yeah, but I like all that stuff.”

Viewers were quickly left unimpressed as they argued it was not a sufficient replacement for the original long-running programme.

Writing on X, formerly Twitter, one viewer said: “I’ve just watched half of the first episode of #PaddyAndChrisRoadTripping – if ever the editorial drive of a programme was more ‘we’ve paid for the so we’ve got to do something’ I’d like to not see it.”

A second went on to say: “What is the point of this? Two blokes driving through Sweden. Why? Did the #bbc think this was a good replacement for #TopGear ? Its not. So far it’s c**p. #roadtripping.”

Whilst another went on to write: “My word, is this the best the @BBC can do and then put it out on a Sunday night?”

Before a fourth furiously added: “So this is Grand Tour on the cheap?”

Despite this, some fans were left feeling differently as they argued that the show was even better than its predecessor.

They said: “Really enjoying #RoadTripping Like Paddy and Chris on Top Gear but this is better.”

Before someone else wrote: “Absolutely loving Paddy and Chris road-tripping.”

Next week, the duo will be heading to the Greek island of Ikaria to discover why one in three locals live well into their nineties.

‘Who the hell wears an outfit like that to the airport?’ people rage about Chloe Ferry’s skintight, backless jumpsuit

COMFY sweatshirts and joggers are the norm for many when it comes to what to wear on a flight.

But not in Chloe Ferry’s case.

And she paired the one-piece with some gold cowboy boots, as she wheeled her suitcase along[/caption]

The Geordie Shore star turned heads with her daring look for a recent flight, as she shared a video of herself on Instagram.

Chloe opted for a skintight, backless jumpsuit for her trip, with the outfit also featuring a plunging neckline.

She teamed the look with a pair of gold knee-high cowboy boots, and wrote over the top of the clip: “When you didn’t pay extra baggage but your cowboy boots are important”.

Adding to her eye-catching look, Chloe wore her hair in rollers, and sported a large pair of glasses.

“When the cowboy boots are everything!” she captioned the video.

She also appeared to be struggling to keep the bottom of the jumpsuit from revealing a bit too much, as she hoisted it up several times during the clip.

However, Chloe was confident enough in her ensemble that she even performed a hilarious dance in it.

But people in the comments section were unimpressed by her daring look.

“Who the hell wears an outfit like that to the airport?” one person wrote.

“It’s ridiculous what people, women in particular are wearing on planes,” another insisted.

“This should be turned away at the boarding gate,” a third wrote.

“Wildly inappropriate and completely desperate for attention.”

“I don’t see cowboy boots,” someone else commented.

“I see a woman so desperate for attention that she has no respect for herself and doesn’t know what cowboy boots are.”

“Maybe put some of the clothes in the case on instead,” another wrote.

“What’s wrong with the way people dress these days?” someone else wondered.

Is there an official dress code for flights?

WHILE there are no official airline rules on what you can and can't wear on board, there are some unspoken guidelines, as passengers have been kicked off a flight for their choice of clothing.

If you can, avoid dirty or torn clothes, anything with slogans that may be deemed offensive or contain any rude language

Some airlines do allow flip-flops, but others may not accept you on board if you’re wearing beach attire or something too revealing.

It’s also important to check whether your destination has specific laws or local customs around clothing, as the airline may expect passengers to adhere to these before boarding.

For example, Qatar Airways have a dress code as the mid-point is a conservative Muslim country.

If passengers visit Doha as a stopover, they must observe the strict dress codes which include no sleeveless shirts, and pants must be no higher than your knees.

It’s a good idea to opt for clothes which are comfortable such as jeans and a nice top.

Bring layers – flights can get chilly and if you do experience a member of the cabin crew asking you to cover up, you’re already prepared.

Overall, think smart casual.

“So not cute – I don’t care how skinny you are this doesn’t look good!!!”

However, others defended Chloe, with one writing: “Why is everyone hating?

“I personally wouldn’t wear this to the airport but I also don’t have this body if I did I would wear this everywhere!”

“Women being women, I don’t mind it and wonder why anyone does.” another insisted.

“I’d approve if it were my friend dancing around happy and having fun!”

“Great body. People are just jealous,” a third reckoned.

As someone else called Chloe an “absolute icon”.

UK weather: Map reveals how nearly all of Britain will be drenched by rain with travel chaos & more floods to come

HEAVY rain will drench nearly all of Britain today potentially sparking travel chaos and more flooding.

A Met Office map has revealed the exact time Brits across the UK are set to be hit with torrential downpours.

There are three yellow weather warnings in place[/caption]

By midday a large band of rain will cover most of Britain, with the Midlands and Northern Ireland.

Around 20-40 mm of rain could fall quite widely with a chance that a few places could see 60-80 mm.

Manchester and York are predicted to see the worst of stormy weather this afternoon.

Two yellow weather warnings for rain have been issued across central parts of Britain that last throughout the day.

An alert covering Manchester, Liverpool and Stoke-on-Trent came into force in the early hours of this morning and ends at 8pm.

Meanwhile, the other warning stretches from Hull down to Peterborough, while also encompassing Nottingham and Sheffield.

The notice began from 8am this morning and ends at 3am tomorrow.

The Environment Agency has issued 58 flood warnings where flooding is expects, and 107 alerts where it is possible.

A spokesperson said: “Flooding is possible but not expected from surface water and rivers on Monday and Tuesday in East of England, East Midlands and Yorkshire and the Humber.

“Local flooding is probable from surface water and rivers across much of England from today (Sunday) until Tuesday.”

By the evening, the south of England is forecast to remain dry, as is much of Scotland.

A third yellow rain warning was extended over the south west coast, covering Brighton, Portsmouth and Plymouth, but this will finish at 9am.

Temperatures are predicted to remain fairly mild throughout the day, with highs of 17C on the south east coast.

Figures across the rest of Britain will hover between 12C and 15C, with lows of 11C in Northern Ireland.

What should I expect?

  • There is a slight chance of power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses
  • There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings
  • Where flooding occurs, there is a slight chance of delays or cancellations to train and bus services
  • Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures
  • There is a small chance that some communities will become cut off by flooded roads

It comes after severe weather disrupted transport and forced cancellation of events in Devon and Cornwall on Sunday.

Katharine Smith, Flood Duty Manager at the Environment Agency, said: “Rainfall arriving on Monday and Tuesday gives potential for further minor surface water and river flooding impacts across parts of England and Wales.

“Environment Agency teams continue to be out on the ground, supporting local authorities in responding to surface water flooding.

“We urge people to plan their journeys carefully, follow the advice of local emergency services on the roads and not to drive through flood water – it is often deeper than it looks and just 30cm of flowing water is enough to float your car.

“People should check their flood risk, sign up for free flood warnings and keep up to date with the latest situation as well as following @EnvAgency on X for the latest flood updates.”

Brits were also battered by flooding chaos last week.

A £200,000 Lamborghini Urus was seen crushed by a fallen tree in Central London.

Councils and emergency services in Northamptonshire and Hertfordshire confirmed several road closures.

Meanwhile Tewkesbury Borough Council, in Gloucestershire, was handing out sandbags to residents to help protect their homes against flooding.

Elsewhere, about 650 properties were flooded in Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire and the home counties, according to the Environment Agency, which estimated around 8,200 properties had been protected.

And, the pitch at the SEAH Stadium in Wellington, home to Telford United football club, was completely flooded on Thursday evening.

Met Office meteorologist Greg Dewhurst said northern and central parts of England and Wales had been hit the hardest.

He said: “There will continue to be localised flooding. A lot of these areas have been hit by rain in the past few weeks which means the ground is already saturated.”

Five day weather forecast

Today

Sad pictures sum up Man Utd fans’ feelings after embarrassing 3-0 thrashing by Tottenham

IF THERE was ever an indication of how the mood around a football club was, then pictures of Manchester United fans following the 3-0 defeat to Tottenham presented very sobering scenes.

Erik ten Hag‘s side collapsed to a 3-0 defeat against Spurs to mark back-to-back home defeats by a three-goal margin.

Mood follows another lifeless performance from players[/caption]

Having gone a goal down inside three minutes, Bruno Fernandes’ controversial sending-off effectively killed any hope of a comeback, with two more second-half goals sending things from bad to worse.

The boos rang around Old Trafford at half-time and despite the defiant whimpers of chanting from the Red Devils faithful during the game, they could only muster some apathetic post-match cries for another dreadful performance.

It was a mood reflective of another tepid and lifeless team performance, and pictures showing disenchanted fans still in the ground summed up the meagre embers of belief still remaining.

Sky Sports broadcast of the game showed despondent fans littered around the stadium, seemingly in disbelief of the horror show they had just watched.

Reacting on social media, one fan said: “Manchester United fans don’t deserve this pain.”

A second shared an image of a fan sitting with his hands in his pockets, saying: “All of us.”

A third added: “The picture says a lot.

Another “Heartbreaking scenes.”

A fifth said: “I saw this and sighed.”

The result leaves United down in 12th with seven points from six games – a record of two wins, one draw and three defeats.

Club chiefs Omar Berrada – who this week outlined a target for both the men’s and women’s teams to win the league by 2028 – and Dan Ashworth publicly backed Ten Hag at the start of the month.

However, results have dramatically dipped since then, and upcoming games against Porto and Aston Villa could dictate whether Ten Hag remains in his post following the international break.

Man Utd ratings vs Tottenham

MANCHESTER UNITED suffered a 3-0 thrashing against Tottenham at Old Trafford.

Captain Bruno Fernandes was sent off in the first half for fouling James Maddison, forcing Erik Ten Hag’s side to play with 10 men against Ange Postecoglou’s team.

After back-to-back draws against Crystal Palace and FC Twente fans hoped United would redeem themselves against Spurs.

However, the match at Old Trafford quickly turned sour. Brennan Johnson scored early and things worsened when Fernandes was sent off allowing Spurs to extend their lead to 3-0.

And here is how SunSports Charlie Wyett rated the Manchester United stars.

Andre Onana – 5

Stood his ground to deliver a good save from Timo Werner who was clean through – no chance for either goal.

Noussair Mazraoui – 5

First in the refs’ book for chopping down Destiny Udogie. Could also have blocked Micky van de Ven for the goal. Just watched Solanke make it 3-0.

Matthijs de Ligt – 4

Shocking first half. Failed to cut out the cross from Micky van de Ven which led to the first goal.

Lisandro Martinez – 5

Switched off for the Spurs goal and was drawn to the ball and Johnson was left unmarked.

Diogo Dalot – 5

Gave the ball away in dangerous areas and struggled against Johnson.

Manuel Ugarte – 5

Suffered a stinker and was lucky to last until the 73rd minute.

Kobbie Mainoo – 5

Not one of his better performances and was taken off just before half-time following Fernandes’ sending-off.

Marcus Rashford – 5

Over-ran the ball for Tottenham’s first. Way off the pace.

Bruno Fernandes – 4

Arguably the worst captain in United’s history. Deserved red card for his challenge on James Maddison.

Alejandro Garnacho – 6

Had United’s only chance in the first half but hit the outside of the post. Improved in the second half.

Joshua Zirkzee – 5

Looked completely lost up front – threatening to be another poor Erik ten Hag signing. Replaced at half-time.

Subs:

Mount (for Mainoo 45)  5, Casemiro (for Zirkzee 46) 7, Hojlund (for Rashford 73) 5, Eriksen (for Ugarte 73) 5.

Zim month-on-month inflation 5.8% up

Zimbabwe’s month-on-month inflation rose to 5.8% in September 2024, from 1.4% in August, a condition largely attributed steep depreciation of the newly introduced currency, the Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG). Zookeeper mauled to death by lion in front of horrified guests after leaving the gate open at feeding time

A ZOOKEEPER was savagely mauled to death by a lion after he left the gate open while feeding it, as onlookers watched on in horror.

Trained lion handler Babaji Daule,35, was working at the Presidential Library Wildlife Park in Abeokuta, Nigeria, when the grim attack took place.

The zoo said that Babaji was showing customers the lion’s feeding routine late on Saturday when “the lion inflicted serious fatal injuries to the man’s neck”.

Local cop spokesperson Omolola Odutola said: “The zookeeper, apparently, feeling comfortable with the animal, left the safety protection gate open and proceeded to feed the animal.

“He was mauled by the animal and died on the spot.”

He explained that the killer animal was later put down by staff at the park “to prevent further mutilation of the body”, reports BBC News.
