The button on your washing machine that claims to dry wet washing faster – & it’s cheaper than putting the heating on

AS the colder autumn and winter weather begins to set it, drying your laundry can seem like an impossible mission.

the warm summer days have faded away and so has our chance to hang the wet washing outdoors – but luckily, one savvy decluttering whizz has come to rescue with the ultimate trick.

According to Nicola, cleaning fans should make use of one lesser-known button when washing their garments
Instagram/thisgirlcanorganise

Taking to Instagram, social media user Nicola Lewis shared a lesser-known button on your washing machine that can seriously up the drying the process.

According to Nicola – better known as That Girl Can Organise – explained that setting the appliance to ”Drum/Spin” can really help when it comes to washing your garments.

Urging fellow Brits to not sleep on this special function, Nicole raved over the button in the video and said: ”Double spin your laundry!

”Your clothes will come out much drier allowing them to dry quicker.”

Despite what many may assume, this setting does not submerge the items in more water – instead, it gives them a double-spin that will dry out as much water as possible.

”Always give your clothes a quick shake before hanging to dry to remove any creases.”

Other pro tips the savvy pro, from Essex, swore by when the weather is too gloomy and wet outside – or it’s winter – was using an airer alongside a dehumidifier.

“A dehumidifier will draw moisture from the air and dry your clothes quicker.

”If you don’t have a dehumidifier open a window and place the airer near natural light.”

If you’re cash-strapped – or simply don’t want to fork out a fortune – on the wet weather essential, shoppers have been raving over a small but mighty dehumidifier from Poundstretcher.

The bargain Fab Fresh buys were 89p, but are now just 59p, saving you a staggering 33% on the handy winter must-have.

The five-in-one action dehumidifiers absorb up to three times their own weight in water and are ideal for airers and wardrobes.

What’s more, not only will they help with the laundry drying process but also banish the musty smells this season – all for under a quid.

The purse-friendly high street bargain also improves air quality and tackles unpleasant odours too – and there are plenty of scents customers can choose from, such as rose, fresh linen and lavender.

Last but certainly not least, Nicola also advised using a fan to help circulate air – and in turn, speed up the drying process.

How can you get your washing dry when it's raining outside?

DEALING with the British weather isn't ideal when it comes to trying to get clothes dry outside. But fear not, if it's raining then there are a few hacks you can try to get your laundry dry inside the house.

Curtain poles

If you put your clothes on hangers to dry, you can then hang the clothes from a curtain pole. This is an effective hack, but it’s important to make sure you’ve got a window open too, to promote ventilation and avoid a build up of mould.

Airers

There are a whole host of airers on the market, but the popularity of heated airers have risen dramatically in recent months. Many people swear by using a heated airer to get clothes dry quickly and evenly, without racking up loads on the energy bill by using a tumble dryer.

Dehumidifiers

While the main point of a dehumidifier is, as the name suggests, to reduce humidity in the room, they also work a treat to get clothes dry. In fact, many of the little machines have a laundry setting on them. And once again, using a dehumidifier won’t break the bank either, as they’re very energy efficient.

Radiator cocoon

If you’ve got your heating on, then creating a cocoon with a fitted sheet and your radiator can be a game changer. Simply place one end of the fitted sheet over the radiator, and place the other end so it’s entirely engulfing the airer. This will dry your clothes quicker, by keeping the hot air inside the cocoon, rather than letting it all escape.

Spin it

The majority of washing machine cycles end with a spin, but you can always give your laundry an extra spin before taking it out, to remove as much moisture as possible before you hang it up. It’s a hack that loads of people swear by when it comes to drying clothes inside.

The savvy guru told her 198k followers: ”If you don’t have a dehumidifier open a window and place the airer near natural light.

”Introduce a fan to circulate cold air helping your clothes to dry faster and prevent mould.

”Any desktop fan can be used and its a lot cheaper than putting the heating on!”

Thanking Nicola for the simple yet effective trips, one Instagram user said: “We’ve just invested in a dehumidifier and it’s bloody amazing.”

Another said: “No more condensation on the windows and that battle with mould feels like a distant memory.”

A third chimed in: “Very pleased but don’t forget to double spin!”

Supercomputer predicts final Premier League table after Arsenal catch Man City and Man Utd set for worst ever finish

MANCHESTER UNITED are destined for their worst ever Premier League finish this season, according to a supercomputer.

The Red Devils have continued their abysmal league form from the last campaign and have just two wins in six Prem games.

Pressure is growing on Erik ten Hag[/caption]

The title race could go down to the final day[/caption]

Their 3-0 drubbing at home to the hands of Tottenham heaps yet more pressure on Erik ten Hag, after he saved his job by winning the FA Cup last season.

However he would unlikely enjoy such a reprieve this season if United can’t turn their form around, with a supercomputer tipping them to lose more matches than they win.

A supercomputer run by Casino Hawks has run 10,000 simulations and placed United 11th in the table – their worst ever finish is eighth, which they managed last season.

They are predicted to win just 15 games and finish below the likes of Brentford, Bournemouth and Fulham – and an astonishing 24 points off their goal of a top four place.

Instead Chelsea will qualify for the Champions League along with Liverpool, with the title race going to the wire once again.

Manchester City dropped points away at Newcastle on Saturday but are still expected to win the league.

However like last season the title race will go down to the final day and City will pip Arsenal by a point, with a remarkable tally of 93.

Tottenham’s impressive win over United has not convinced the supercomputer of their top four bid, with Ange Postecoglou‘s side predicted to finish sixth.

Instead Newcastle will finish fifth – just two points off a resurgent Chelsea.

Meanwhile all three promoted clubs Ipswich, Southampton and Leicester are tipped to go down, with the Saints accumulating just 15 points.

Shock moment EastEnders legend returns to reunite with daughter Bianca – after 10 years away from the Square

EASTENDERS have given fans their first look at a major family reunion.

Bianca Jackson (Patsy Palmer) is set for a blast from the past in upcoming soap scenes.

Viewers know David Wicks (Michael French) is returning after a decade away from Walford.

First-look pictures show David reuniting with daughter Bianca – although not how either would have expected.

Bianca is taking part in the Save Our Sonia campaign when she stumbles and falls into a pile of rubbish bags.

While getting up, she is stunned to be face-to-face with her estranged father.

Although David realises his daughter needs his support – what are his reasons for returning?

The BBC soap has been bringing back several familiar faces in the lead-up to its 40th anniversary next year.

Fans have already seen Jane Beale (Laurie Brett) and Chrissie Watts (Tracy-Ann Oberman) reappear after years away.

Addressing his comeback, Michael French previously said: “I feel honoured to be asked to reprise the role of David Wicks once again.

“It may only be a brief visit, but we know from his past that David never fails to create a lot of drama in a very short time.”

Chris Clenshaw, EastEnders Executive Producer added: “David Wicks is undoubtedly one of EastEnders’ most beloved rogues, and we are thrilled to welcome the talented Michael French back to the legendary role as we lead up to the show’s 40th anniversary.

“David’s character was never shy of drama during his previous stints, and I can assure you this return will be no different.”

As the son of Pete Beale (Peter Dean) and Pat Butcher (Pam St Clement), David has a firm legacy in Albert Square.

Previously, David feuded with half-brother Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) – and had an affair with Cindy (Michelle Collins), Ian’s then-wife.

A shock storyline from the 90s saw David learn that Bianca, a woman he’d been developing feelings for, was actually his daughter.

Back in 2012, he returned to EastEnders after a 16-year absence for his mother Pat’s death.

Afterwards, David subsequently appeared on and off until 2014.

Bianca Jackson EastEnders storylines

Bianca Jackson has been a part of several major EastEnders storylines since her debut over 30 years ago. Here are some of her most memorable.

  • Relationship with Ricky Butcher: Bianca had a long-running romance storyline with Ricky (Sid Owen). Known for her signature “Rickaaaaaaay!”, the pair have been married twice and have two children – Liam and Tiffany.
  • Spina bifida: Bianca was used in a storyline depicting Spina bifida – a developmental birth defect which leads to an incompletely formed spinal cord of the baby. She had been pregnant with Ricky’s daughter before deciding to terminate the pregnancy after 20 weeks.
  • Paternity revealed: In the 90s, older man David Wicks had started to have feelings for Bianca – only for her mother Carol to drop the bombshell that David is actually her biological father.
  • Whitney’s abuse uncovered: When Bianca returned to Albert Square in 2008, among her brood was step-daughter Whitney (Shona McGarty). In a harrowing storyline, Bianca was horrified to learn her fiancé Tony King (Chris Coghill) had been abusing Whitney.

During this time, he briefly reunited with former flame Carol Jackson (Lindsey Coulson), who is Bianca’s mother.

Their romance ultimately wasn’t to last and David ended up leaving the country.

What has he been up to in the past decade?

EastEnders airs on BBC One and is available on iPlayer.

However, with Brits left in shock after Costa ‘abruptly’ shut one of it’s stores for good this month, many of us may be thinking of making our favourite drinks at home instead.

With that in mind, TikToker Chi revealed her homemade pumpkin spice latte recipe, which takes less than a minute to make.

Pumpkin Spice Latte Recipe

To make the coffee, Chi revealed that you will need:

  • Two tablespoons of pumpkin puree
  • One tablespoon of maple syrup
  • One teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • A quarter of a teaspoon of nutmeg
  • A quarter of a teaspoon of ginger
  • One eighth of a teaspoon of clove
  • 200ml of milk
  • One double shot of espresso

“Making a pumpkin spiced latte with real pumpkin is easy”, she said.

Demonstrating her method, Chi mixed all of the spices together, to make the “pumpkin spice” and added it to a large mug, alongside the pumpkin puree.

Then, she heated up the milk and poured it over the mixture.

“Add in some maple syrup if you like it sweet”, she said.

Using a frother, Chi then mixed all of the ingredients together, and the added in the double shot of espresso.

“If you like, add in some whipped cream”, Chi suggested.

To finish off the coffee, Chi poured some more of the mixed spices on top of the cream, and voila, a pumpkin spiced latte made in less than one minute.

Chi’s (@chi.homecafe) video, has likely left many people impressed, as it has racked up over 200,000 views on the video sharing platform.

TikTok users raced to the video’s comments section to share their thoughts.

One person said: “Always best to make if yourself!”

Why is everyone obsessed with Pumpkin Spice?

Pumpkin spice has become a cultural phenomenon, a staple flavour and scent as autumn begins.

No surprise, it originated from America, referencing the pumpkin spice mix used to flavour Thanksgiving’s pumpkin pie.

Matt Johnson, PhD explained the psychology behind our obsession with pumpkin spice. He said: “With each passing fall season, pumpkin spice becomes more and more iconic.

“The flavour and scent [have] become inextricably tied to memories of autumn, Christmas holidays and traditions, creating an emotional connection that brands capitalise on.”

The professor explained how the general flavour or pumpkin spice is “rooted in the seasonal foods we typically enjoy during autumn”, and has become so iconic, it returns bigger and better every year.

Not only does it impact food and drinks, but autumnal interior design has exploded over the past few years, and households actively decorate their houses with seasonal displays.

“I agree, so much better than Starbucks“, Chi replied.

A second person said: “Yum, pumpkin spice season is here.”

A third person said: “Looks delish.”

A fourth added: “This looks so good!

“I have to try it.”
