The Sun’s Head of Travel Lisa Minot has explained exactly what Brits need to know.
“Travellers used to be able to roll over up to nine unused months from their old passport onto a new one.
“But post-Brexit, anyone wanting to travel to the EU can no longer rely on those extra months.
“In order to travel to the EU, all passports must be no more than 10 years old on the day you arrive in your European destination.
“And you’ll need at least three months on your passport on the day you head back to the UK.
“Figures have shown up to 100,000 holidaymakers a year face being turned away at airports if their passport is more than 10 years old.
“The 10-year rule only applies to countries in the European Union but every country may have different rules on what is accepted – some countries like South Africa, for example, insist you have at least six months left on your passport when you travel and a full clear page.”

"Upon waking up I noticed Mr Chikanza in my room with his phones. I had no idea at that time how he had gained entry into my room. I chased him from my room by threatening to beat him up. I then went to report to reception about the intrusion," Mwonzora said in a statement. "The hotel reception told me that Mr Chikanza had obtained duplicate keys after convincing them that he was my friend. I made it clear to hotel staff that for security reasons, I did not want anyone in my room. They gave me their assurances. Mr Chikanza never paid for my room as he claims. Why he would come to my room whilst I was asleep at that odd hour of the day is still a mystery to me. I can only think that he wanted to harm me one way or the other."

PHILLIP Schofield returns to TV tonight 16 months after he was fired from This Morning over what he called an “unwise, but not illegal” affair.
The 62-year-old, who stopped presenting the ITV daytime show in May 2023 after 21 years, appears in a Channel 5 special called Cast Away, which follows a celebrity stranded on an island off the coast of Madagascar for 10 days.
Schofield reveals on his new show how there are parts of TV he does not miss as he makes a string of jibes at his former This Morning co-host Holly Willoughby.
In another scene he appears to sever ties with his former employers ITV, where he worked for decades on a string of shows including Dancing On Ice.
The show also sees him address his fling with a much younger runner.
The presenter openly admits: “It was an unwise and unprofessional thing to do, I will be forever sorry.”
Holly — who is never mentioned by name — is not the only target in the programme, which will run over three consecutive nights this week from Monday to Wednesday at 9pm.

NETFLIX fans are begging the streamer for a new series of Nobody Wants This after bingeing the new romantic comedy-drama over the weekend – but there’s one thing they want to change.

The series chronicles the ups and downs of their relationship as they meet and fall in love[/caption]
Despite the pair’s obvious chemistry, Noah’s faith and Joanne’s aversion to religion prove to be a challenge for the couple – as does Noah’s ex-girlfriend Rebecca (Emily Arlook), who his family just adores.
Netflix fans are going wild over the series, as they are especially enjoying the strong connection between Noah and Joanne which Adam and Kristen are able to convey.
After bingeing the new series, which premiered on Thursday (September 26), Netflix fans have taken to X, formerly Twitter, to express how much they loved the romantic comedy-drama.
Praising the show, one viewer wrote: “Natural chemistry between the leads, witty, quick dialogue, multiple levels to an amazing supporting cast, absolutely zero slapstick over the top action scenes, real rom-com energy is back.”
Picking up on the palpable chemistry between Noah and Joanne during their first kiss at the end of episode 2, another viewer said: “This is actually such an insane kiss. I will be thinking about it for the foreseeable future.”
“We must immediately induct Rabbi Noah Roklov into the rom-com boyfriend hall of fame for this scene alone,” agreed a third fan.
While a fourth gushed: “Adam Brody is such an amazing actor. After watching all 10 episodes in one season, I realised how much I’ve missed seeing him on screen.”
Some fans are so obsessed with the series they’re watching it again already, with one viewer admitting they’re already “rewatching for the third time.”
Netflix fans are so smitten with the series they’re begging Netflix for a second series, but they want one major change for series 2.
Tweeting the streamer with their demands, one fan wrote: “Listen Netflix I want a SECOND SEASON but I also want 20 EPISODES AN HOUR LONG EACH.”
There are ten episodes in series 1 which are each around 30 minutes long, but fans want more than double that amount of screen time in the next series.
Other fans immediately jumped on board with this request, using the #everybodywantsthis, a play on the show’s name.
Echoing calls for a second series, another fan wrote: “I loved this mini-series … it was awesome … hilarious … especially the scene in the sex store … I haven’t laughed that hard for a while … there must be a Season 2!!!”

Nobody Wants This brought back lots of noughties nostalgia as it follows two former teen drama icons as they fall in love.
Kristen Bell is best known from her roles in Veronica Mars and Gossip Girl, while her on-screen love interest, Adam Brody, rose to fame playing Seth Cohen on The O.C.
Teasing the nature of the romantic drama, the official synopsis reads: “An agnostic podcast host and an unconventional rabbi on the rebound walk into a party. When they walk out — together — the unlikely pair, Joanne and Noah, can tell there is something between them.

“But also potentially between them, with their differing outlooks on life, all of the modern obstacles to love, and their sometimes well-meaning, sometimes sabotaging families — including her sister Morgan and his brother Sasha.”

6 days agoWorld LeaksComments Off on ‘You need to plan ahead’ expert reveals exact costume you should get your kids for Halloween, take the quiz to find out
WHAT should you be dressing up the kids as this Halloween?
The tool will ask different questions about their preferences and how daring they’re willing to be, before providing you with options on how best to dress them on the spookiest night of the year.
A new online quiz has been created to help parents plan their kids’ Halloween costumes[/caption]
Research shows an increase in the amount of money adults are willing to spend on Halloween costumes[/caption]
It follows research which found one in four Brits claim Halloween is their favourite ‘holiday’ – and are set to spend big on it this year.
A month ahead of the big night, a poll of 2,000 adults revealed they are gearing up to shell out almost £100 this October, after spending an average of just £21 in previous years.
And 24 per cent will formulate their plans for Halloween at least a month in advance – with half believing products should be in the shops in good time.
A third intend to hand out treats, 25 per cent will carve pumpkins and 20 per cent will deck out their homes with decorations.
While 20 per cent will don a full costume for the big night.
It also emerged that 23 per cent will get competitive when it comes to their decoration – with the living room, front porch and hallway in for the spooky treatment.
Vicky Woods from Disney Store, which commissioned the research to launch its Halloween collection, said: “Halloween has really gained momentum in the UK in recent years, which the research and our own customer interest shows us.
“As a result, more people than ever are transforming their homes inside and out for the occasion – from dressing up to throwing themed parties.
“We are seeing searches for Halloween-themed products starting earlier each year, beginning around mid-July and peaking the first week of October.
“Social media, along with influences from across the pond, has certainly played a role in increasing excitement and spending, as people aim to make their celebrations more elaborate and memorable.”
When it comes to costume choice, 16 per cent prefer a non-frightening option – but 31 per cent are out to scare.
But social media has had an influence on decorations and costumes over the years according to 31 per cent – with 24 per cent also looking to outdo others with their choice of costume.
However, 26 per cent reckon Halloween can be as fun for adults as it is for children – with 18 per cent enjoying trick-or-treaters knocking at the door.
Of the 36 per cent polled, via OnePoll, who are responsible for children on the night, 51 per cent get excited and 46 per cent of kids love to dress up.
How are Brits preparing for Halloween?
A poll of 2,000 adults revealed 24% of people make their Halloween plans at least one month in advance.
A full costume will be worn by 20% of people, and the same amount will decorate their homes.
At least 25% will carve pumpkins as 26% of adults say Halloween is just as fun for them as kids.
The joy of trick-or-treating will be experienced by 18%.
Over half of adults who will be responsible for kids on the night said they get excited, while 46% of kids said they love to dress up.
Vicky Woods, from the Disney Store, added: “It’s fascinating to see how many people now rate Halloween as their favourite ‘holiday.’
“Children, especially, love to embrace the fun, and it’s a perfect chance for families to come together and get creative.
“But it’s always worth planning ahead – the best costumes and decorations tend to fly off the shelves as we approach the big night.
“We’ve made Halloween extra special this year with a fantastic selection of themed products for everyone.
“With these magical items, families can create a truly unforgettable Halloween experience.”
