Watch world’s fastest MOBILITY SCOOTER speed through field at whopping 70mph

A QUIRKY inventor has shown of the world’s fastest mobility scooter, which can hit speeds of 70mph.

The high-powered motor wowed fans with its high-speed antics, including topping 50mph in the snow.

He previously held a world record at 71.59mph[/caption]

Gadget whizz Colin Furze claimed a Guinness World Record on the device in 2010 when he hit a “wicked” 71.59mph.

The pro stuntman, from Stamford, Lincolnshire, gave supporters a glimpse of the scooter in action on his YouTube channel.

In the clip, he can be seen speeding through snowy fields on the racing green-coloured vehicle.

Powered by a 125cc engine out of a motocross bike, it is surprisingly nimble as well as being rapid.

Colin whooped and cheered with delight as he flew across the idyllic landscape.

Although, he did stop along the way to do some doughnuts.

Describing the drive to the BBC back in 2015, he said: “I’ve often said to people if you want to turn heads don’t buy a Ferrari, pimp a mobility scooter up.

“It’s an experience.

“These things have been designed to turn around in a shopping aisle so the steering is quite responsive.

“You have to keep it dead straight.”

The vehicle certainly made an impression on his viewers, too.

One joked: “The line between mad and genius is very thin.”

Another added: “After watching some videos of his channel I can’t believe this man is still alive.”

Sadly, Colin’s record has subsequently been broken by rival speed-demons.

Danish inventor Klaus Nissen hit 82.67mph in 2012, before David Anderson and Matthew Hine from the Isle of Man broke the 100mph barrier for the first time in 2016.

The current record stands at a whopping 112mph, set by German Sven Ogler in 2017.

It comes after a set of five supercars worth over £500,000 was stolen in a light-night racetrack heist.

A UK career in engineering means you will enter a highly sought-after profession

Discover thousands of opportunities
on The Sun Job board

Want to engineer a new career? Here’s all you need to know from Sun Jobs.

Engineer is quite a broad term – so what could I do in an engineering job?

Engineering is a catch-all term for someone who either invents, tests, designs or maintain something.

This can include machines, structures, gadgets, IT and data systems, infrastructure or power systems.

Jobs can range from nuclear engineers to structural engineers to IT systems engineers to lift engineers.

How much can I earn as an engineer?

This depends on the type of engineering you train to do.

While the Engineer magazine says the the mean average salary for a UK engineer has increased from £57k to £65k in the past twelve months, someone specialising in a highly-regulated industry like nuclear engineering will earn more than lift or structural engineer.

Graduate engineers can expect to earn from £26,500 in a first job but senior engineers with considerable experience of leading major projects can comfortably earn in excess of £100,000.

How do I become an engineer?

There are lots of different ways into engineering but again, it will depend on the type of role you want to do.

Entry routes include taking an apprenticeship, a degree apprenticeship or studying a relevant engineering degree.

You may also want to study a master’s degree in you chosen area and then apply for title of chartered engineer (CEng) from the Engineering Council.

The website This is Engineering has lots of helpful resources at this link.

Most roles will also ask for Grade 9-4 (A*-C) in maths, science and English at GCSE or equivalent, whichever route you take into engineering.

What about personality and skills?

Engineers create and manufacture the buildings we live in, the transport we travel on and the infrastructure we rely on, so certain skills are vital.

You need to be a problem solver, good with maths, precise and methodical in your work and to have an interest in science too.

Engineers usually work as part of a wider team so communication and teamwork skills are important.

If you want to progress up the career ladder, then work on your project management and wider management skills too.

Big changes to McDonald’s menu coming in October including new breakfast item

BIG CHANGES are coming to McDonald’s menu this October much to the delight of fast-food lovers.

The home of the Golden Arches is switching up its menu as we head into the autumn months.

Big changes are coming to the McDonald’s menu this October[/caption]

It is not uncommon for the Big Mac maker to shake up what is sold across its over 1,400 stores to make way for new items.

As many fans will already know, September saw the return of McDonlad’s popular Monopoly game.

To celebrate the launch the franchise added six new items to the menu, including a never-before-seen Twix Latte.

The sticker-collecting contest, which is based on the popular board game, will come to a halt in just two weeks.

And that means the latte alongside the other seasonal food items will also be axed.

If you are keen to know what is coming in and going out of Maccies in just a few weeks then it may be worth having a read of the below.

What’s coming to McDonald’s in October?

McDonald’s has confirmed an all-new breakfast item is set to arrive in stores this October.

From Ocotber 16, the fast-food chain will start selling mini hashbrowns across its stores.

The potato bites will come in either a portion of five for £1.49 or 15 for £2.29.

Maccies already sells regular-sized hashbrowns for £1.19.

Many customers have said the product reminds them of Tater Tots, which are a popular side dish in America.

Commenting on a social media post one user said: “Looks like Tater Tots to me.”

“Otherwise known as a Tater Tot,” said another.

It is still unclear whether or not the morning snack will become a permanent menu item or will only be available for a limited period of time.

Talk of a menu shake-up comes just weeks after Maccies hinted the McRib could once again land in stores.

A test notification for the boneless pork burger was sent out on the McDonald’s rewards app.

All you need to know about McDonald's

HERE'S all the crucial information about McDonald's you've always wanted to know...

When asked if the McRib is coming back, a spokesperson said: “McDonald’s is always looking to innovate with new and exciting menu items, as well as bringing back the fan favourites.

“If you’re keen to be the first to receive more info from McDonald’s stay tuned.”

The McRib was first added to the main UK McDonald’s menu in 1981 but was taken off just four years later.

It has made sporadic returns since.

What’s out?

Customers will have to wave goodbye to six menu items this coming October. These include:

  • Philly Cheese Stack
  • Chicken Big Mac
  • Mozzarella Dippers
  • Galaxy Chocolate McFlurry
  • Twix Caramel McFlurry
  • Twix Latte

The items were rolled out across stores on September 4, in conjunction with the return of McDonald’s Monopoly.

But when the game ends during the first week in October, these items will also be removed.

There are still around two weeks left to play the game, which allows participants to peel stickers that represent train stations or colour-coordinated streets.

If you are curious about how the game works and what prizes you can win, read our article here.

It is worth bearing in mind that McDonald’s regularly updates its menu,  so it is always worth reading updates online to avoid missing out.

How to save at McDonald's

You could end up being charged more for a McDonald's meal based solely on the McDonald's restaurant you choose.

Research by The Sun found a Big Mac meal can be up to 30% cheaper at restaurants just two miles apart from each other.

You can pick up a Big Mac and fries for just £2.99 at any time by filling in a feedback survey found on McDonald’s receipts.

The receipt should come with a 12-digit code which you can enter into the Food for Thought website alongside your submitted survey.

You’ll then receive a five-digit code which is your voucher for the £2.99 offer.

There are some deals and offers you can only get if you have the My McDonald’s app, so it’s worth signing up to get money off your meals.

The MyMcDonald’s app can be downloaded on iPhone and Android phones and is quick to set up.

You can also bag freebies and discounts on your birthday if you’re a My McDonald’s app user.

The chain has recently sent out reminders to app users to fill out their birthday details – otherwise they could miss out on birthday treats.

Astro Bot developer opens up about why PlayStation classics like Final Fantasy weren’t included

ASTRO Bot is the recently released PlayStation exclusive that excited players with its fun and fast-paced gameplay.

Not only are there platforming planets to explore with unique themes and power-ups, but there are short challenging levels to overcome.

God of War is just one of the many games with characters in Astro Bot[/caption]

One of the most fun parts about Astro Bot is the hundreds of bots that you have to find and rescue, including over 150 characters from classic PlayStation games.

With characters like Crash Bandicoot, Solid Snake and Lara Croft, all of your favourite characters are here.

Or I should say almost all of your favourite characters, because games from one major publisher are noticeably missing.

People immediately noticed that popular characters like Cloud from Final Fantasy were missing, but other series like Dragon Quest, Kingdom Hearts, Nier and Mana, are also missing.

It was soon obvious that Square Enix had refused to cooperate with Astro Bot’s Team Asobi, and so none of its characters are present.

People were asking about why Square Enix characters weren’t included in Astro Bot when so many games are such a huge part of PlayStation history.

In an interview with Game File, head of Team Asobi Nicolas Doucet spoke about the process of getting all the different cameo bots in Astro Bot.

Doucet reveals that when he approached publishers, he expected to receive a positive response from about half of them.

Instead, there was a hugely positive response, with most partners reportedly “raising their hands and saying ‘Absolutely!’”.

Doucet claims that “almost 100%” of those approached to be included did end up in the final game.

When asked about Square Enix characters specifically, though, Doucet doesn’t have much to say, but his comment confirms that the publisher was approached.

Doucet says: “It’s difficult to comment on. We really respect the choice of each publisher.”

By saying that Team Asobi respects the publisher’s choice it seems clear that Square Enix was approached, and turned down the offer to appear in Astro Bot.

Team Asobi may only know as much about Square Enix’s refusal to be included as we do.

More characters are coming in Astro Bot’s free DLC that will launch before the end of the year.

Eve from Stellar Blade and a Helldiver are confirmed to be included in the drop which will include 10 new cameos.

Kerry Katona predicts Phillip Schofield’s next reality show after shock TV return and begs producers to let her join him

KERRY Katona has not held back on her thoughts of Phillip Schofield’s new reality show – and suggested the “tone deaf” presenter could wind up on Celebrity Big Brother.

The Atomic Kitten icon let loose on the news that Schofield – whose career was upended after an ‘unwise but not illegal’ affair with a much younger This Morning staffer came to light – was attempting to make a comeback with a Channel 5 show.

Cast Away, which premieres tonight, will see Schofield attempt to spend 10 days alone on a desert island, without food or water, and opening up on his past indiscretions.

But in her OK! column, Kerry was having none of it, instead urging ITV to put him in the Celebrity Big Brother house with her so she can tell him how she feels.

“If I’m honest, I think it’s a really self-indulgent move to have him alone on a desert island, playing the pity card,” she said.

“He talks about living with absolutely nothing on this island, but then he goes back to his big house, wealth and home comforts. I think it’s really tone-deaf.”

However she added she was “obviously going to watch” the show.

“I think Phil will do Celebrity Big Brother next and I’d love to go in with him,” she added.

“Big Brother, if you’re casting, please put us in – I’d be brutally honest with him.”

There’s little love lost between Kerry and Phillip, after a now notorious interview in 2008 where Kerry appeared on This Morning.

Talking to Phillip and Fern Britton, Kerry was seen slurring her words, which Phillip pointed out before telling her she “didn’t look right”.

Kerry said she had taken medication later than usual the evening before, and suggested that him pointing out her appearance was now going to be a big story.

Phillip responded by telling her he was “merely pointing out” what viewers had already been talking about.

Speaking on Exhibit A years later, Kerry told Abbey Clancy: “I’m not on any A-class drugs and drink, I’d just got up and gone to work, it was a side effect from my medication, but because people didn’t understand that, they just thought, ‘She’s off her f***ing head’.”

“What wasn’t right is how I was treated there and then on live television, you know, indicating that I’m this alcoholic,” she continued. “Like you know, ‘Your speech is a bit slurred Kerry’ and I thought, ‘Oh s**t, I took my [bipolar] medication late last night’, which was a fact as I did Celebrity Juice the night before.”

However, Phillip has adamantly denied intentionally ambushing the star.

Unfortunately the opportunity for confrontation seems unlikely, with Schofield vowing to ‘never work for ITV again’ after he lost his lucrative jobs on This Morning and Dancing on Ice after the truth came to light.

What will happen on Cast Away?

The 62-year-old broadcaster has secretly filmed a Channel 5 special, Cast Away, which sees him marooned on a tropical island for 10 days.

Phillip will be seen fending for himself on an island off Madagascar, filming himself as he battles for survival – and emotionally discussing his past two years from hell.

“With 10 days to himself, no camera crews or production around, he shot some unbelievably raw footage – some of it makes for tough, emotional viewing,” a source said.

“But he wanted a chance to share his story, unedited and honest, and let viewers see another side to him.”

The three part series airs on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday night.

Talking about his exit from This Morning after 22 years at the helm, Schofield seemed to swipe at former on-screen partner, Holly Willoughby.

He also claims to have been “thrown under the bus” by unnamed parties.

He tells cameras tonight: ““I miss parts of being on TV, certainly. I miss most of it, if I’m honest, I miss most of it.

“But there are bits that I really, really, really don’t miss.

“You learn a lot about people, I don’t miss that.”

He adds: “When you throw someone under a bus, you’ve got to have a really bloody good reason to do it.”

Cast Away premieres tonight at 9pm on Channel 5.
