Boy, 6, screamed ‘Mummy… I’m going to die’ as he was pinned by car after being ‘rammed by farmer for stealing orange’

THE SIX-YEAR-OLD who was allegedly run over by a farmer for stealing an orange screamed “Mummy, I’m going to die”, his heartbroken mum revealed in court.

Christoffel Johannes Stoman, 70, appeared in the Vredendal Magistrate’s Court on Monday on two charges of attempted murder and a charge of reckless and negligent driving.

Mum Magdalene Jantijies claims Stoman rammed into them both, consequently pinning them against the fence before Khwezi’s legs were crushed under the tyres.

She explained to the court that her six-year-old has endured nightmares about the horrific incident.

Recalling the scene, Magdalene said: “He said: ‘Ouch, Mummy… I’m going to die!’ And the child screamed, he screamed and I said: ‘It will all be alright, Khwezi’.”

Young Khwezi was rushed to Paarl Hospital and was then transferred to Vredendal – near his family home.

Khwezi is due to have surgery on Wednesday as treatment continues to save his legs, according to his mum.

The horrific case has caused uproar within the community, with locals claiming that it is not the first time Stoman has committed this kind of crime, according to eNCA.

Local community activist Billy Claasan is pleading with lawmakers to toughen the consequences on farmers committing crimes.

He also alleges that the suspect told cops that he “would do it again”, IOL reports.

Magdalene said she and her son had walked past the accused farmer’s smallholding when making their way to town to do some food shopping, EWN reports.

Khwezi reportedly stopped to pick up an orange that was on the ground before attempting to reach through a fence and grab another one that was on the ground as well.

Stoman, the farmer, accused Khwezi of stealing an orange from his farm.

He then allegedly hit and ran over the six-year-old with his vehicle that had a trailer attached.

The emotional mum recalled the terrifying incident, saying she heard accused Stoman scream before ramming into them both, pinning them against a fence.

Magdalene said to eNCA: “He came from around the corner and he was driving at a speed.

“He shouted ‘stand there, stand there.’ I thought he was going to stop. He aimed directly at us in a corner, and I screamed, Help! Help!

“He said, ‘I’m going to kill you by driving into you.'”

The mum claims that following the incident said the farmer “showed no remorse” and didn’t offer “any assistance” to the pair, Sahara Reporters claims.

National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Eric Ntabazalila confirmed the State had opposed Stoman’s release.

He said: “[Stoman] will stay in custody and will appear on Monday in the Vredendal Magistrate’s Court.

“The State has indicated that it will oppose bail in this case. We welcome this development.

“We visited the crime scene, and there is no way that this boy could have gained access to the orchard over that fence.

“The suspect should answer in a court of law for this reckless behaviour.”

Following the horror incident, Magdalene said her and her six-year-old would focus on his recovery and have plans to receive counselling after the traumatic event.

She added: “I aim to continue with this case. I want to proceed by the grace of God, as long as I can stand here.”

Love Island fans spot ‘big clue’ that Josh was ‘to blame’ for Mimii split

LOVE Island fans are convinced they’ve spotted a “big clue” to indicate Josh Oyinsan was responsible for his break-up with Mimii Ngulube.

The duo won the ITV2 matchmaking show earlier this summer.

They reckoned the split was ‘not amicable’ as Josh has been unfollowing a host of Mimii’s pals[/caption]

Yet they stunned fans as they announced their split this week after two months together – just days after Mimii, 24, was spotted partying without her man.

Now fans reckon Paul Pogba body-double Josh, 29, is to blame.

One took to Reddit to remark: “It doesn’t feel very amicable.”

Another posted: “Lol it seems way too intense… unfollowing and unliking pictures. The man is doing way too much.”

A third then continued: “I don’t think people are shocked they aren’t together, more so the fact that it seems to be a messy thing. He’s unfollowed her cousin and Tanya as well.”

Another surmised: “I think Mimii ended it with Josh because the way this man is deleting posts and unfollowing her friends/family.”

One was then quick to remark on Love Island bombshell Josh’s desire to hit the unfollow button and surmised: “So I’m guessing something messy happened but idk if we’ll find out until much later.”

A show fan then picked apart Mimii’s split statement as they wrote: “That ‘it’s disappointing for me too’ in Mimii’s IG story tells me Josh most likely was the one to end it, or wanted to stop trying or whatever.

“I think even if he was sincere in liking her on the show, getting out of the villa and seeing just how into Ayo she was even when she denied it would have probably been an ego blow for him.

“Plus his friends and fam also probably telling him what they saw on the show, which was her still wanting Ayo even after several rejections.

“The trust probably wasn’t there for either of them.”

SAD SPLIT

Mimii took to her social media on Monday to announce the sad news.

Confirming their split, Mimii told fans: “Hi everyone, I know that a lot of you have been wondering about Josh and I and why we haven’t been making appearances.

“The truth is we have been trying to figure it out since leaving the villa, but unfortunately things aren’t going to work out between us right now.

Love Island Series 11 - who's still together?

The 11th series of popular ITV2 dating show Love Island created plenty of new couples - but not all of them have managed to go the distance.

  • Mimii and Josh – Still together
  • Nicole and Ciaran – Still together
  • Matilda and Sean – Split: The couple, who reached the final, opted to go their separate ways just a month after series 11 wrapped. They each announced news of the separation through statements posted on Instagram.
  • Jess and Ayo – Still together
  • Jessy and Joey – Still together
  • Grace and Reuben – Split: Grace and Reuben were eliminated just before the final. They mutually decided to call time on their relationship after struggling to make it work in the real world thanks to their conflicting, busy schedules.
  • Jess W and Hugo – Split: The couple – who got together during the Casa Amor stage – split just days after leaving the villa. Meanwhile, Hugo was seen snogging  former Love Island contestant Charlotte Sumner.
  • Harriett and Ronnie – Split

“I know it’s a big disappointment for a lot of you as it is for me too, your support for us hasn’t gone unnoticed and I will forever be grateful for it, you guys are the reason we made it to this point.

“God bless you all.”

One fan was quick to write on her recent Instagram post: “Sorry to hear about the breakup Mimi.

“God knows best sending love.”

Fans were previously left worried the islanders were on the rocks after a social media update from Mimii showed her partying without Josh.

She was snapped with fellow co-star Omar Nyame, who was another bombshell arrival in the latest series.

Josh has yet to release a statement to his followers about the end of his relationship with Mimii.

Olivia Attwood shares the ‘tacky & vile’ way her wedding night ended, as she admits it was like a scene from EastEnders

OLIVIA Attwood has left people in hysterics after revealing the very untraditional way her wedding day to Bradley Dack ended.

The former Love Island star tied the knot with footballer Bradley in June 2023, but admitted on her So Wrong It’s Right podcast that they didn’t conclude their big day by consummating the marriage.

“You know who didn’t have sex in my wedding room?” Olivia raged, while wearing a veil for the special wedding episode.

“Me and Brad!”

Olivia went on to reveal that she went to bed before her new husband, but was woken an hour later by the sound of a door slamming.

“Then Brad and one of his mates rolled onto the floor having a fight on our wedding night,” she said.

“They were like lobbing stuff at each other across the suite and then I hear the voices of the other boys coming in, like, ‘Come on, f**king leave it, leave it!

“It was literally like EastEnders,” Olivia continued.

She then heard Ronnie – a contestant on this year’s Love Island and a close friend of the couple’s say: “F**king hell, if Liv hears this, she’s gonna literally murder someone!”

Liv insisted Ronnie was “not f**king wrong”.

“And then I poked my head out the door and everyone just like froze,” she laughed.

“Someone’s holding a Grey Goose bottle, and I was like, ‘What the f**k is going on?'”

“Yeah, that’s how my wedding night ended,” Olivia sighed.

“It’s so tacky and vile.

“I’m actually never gonna not hold it over Brad to the end of time, bring it up all the time… ‘Do you remember when you ruined the end of our wedding?'”

The comments section was immediately filled with people weighing in, with one person writing: “I love the fear the men had of Olivia hearing them!”

“You went to bed before your husband on your wedding night.. say less!” another laughed.

“At least no babies were conceived,” a third pointed out.

Olivia Attwood's Career History

From Monster grid girl and Love Island star to daytime telly panellist and respected documentary maker, Olivia Attwood has made a huge career pivot in recent years...

Olivia first started as a Monster grid girl at motorsport events in 2012 when she was 19-years-old, and did it right up until she went into Love Island in 2017.

After placing third in the reality show with then-boyfriend Chris Hughes, she starred in their own spin-off series, Chris & Olivia: Crackin’ On, in 2018.

Later that year, she appeared on Celebs Go Dating and then joined the cast of The Only Way Is Essex in 2019, where she had a number of fiery on-screen rows.

In 2020, the reality TV veteran began starring in her own reality series on ITVBe titled Olivia Meets Her Match, which followed her wedding preparations with footballer Bradley Dack.

In 2021, the tide started to turn.

Olivia made appearances on household shows Lorraine, Tipping Point: Lucky Stars and Loose Women.

Then, in 2022, ITV commissioned her for her first ever documentary series.

She presented Olivia Attwood: Getting Filthy Rich, which explored women selling sexual content online.

In June 2023, ITV commissioned Olivia Marries Her Match and made her a regular guest panellist on Loose Women.

Her most recent docu-series, Olivia Attwood: The Price of Perfection, aired in January this year where she sensitively explored the cosmetic industry.

As others insisted their wedding nights were also not as exciting as they had anticipated.

“The wedding night is never as exciting,” one reassured Olivia.

While someone else wrote: “I also didn’t have it in mine either as my mother in law decided that was the room she was going to sleep in.

“And she left us sharing with the kids!”

“My wedding night consisted of me leaving the hotel in my PJs with hubby to drive 2 hrs to my mums to pick up my phone which I forgot in her bag,” a third laughed.

“Deffo no (sex) that night – we were shattered!”

Punter wins £16,400 from £10 despite WRONG selection thanks to Paddy Power promotion which cost bookies £1.6m

a soccer ball in a net with the words super sub stake £ 10 odds 1639/1 win £ 16,400
THE SUN

SUNDAYS don’t get much sweeter than this.

One exceptional Paddy Power punter pocketed a massive £16,400 from a tenner despite one of their selections LOSING!

Let me explain…

The plucky punter placed £10 on a six-leg Multi-Match Bet Builder for Sunday’s Premier League matches between Ipswich Town and Aston Villa, and Manchester United vs Tottenham.

The bettor stuck the bet on at odds of 1639/1, meaning their £10 stake would return a life-changing £16,400.

Things couldn’t have started better with Villa talent Morgan Rogers netting after 15 minutes having been backed to score or assist.

Defenders Lucas Digne and Jacob Greaves were then carded to complete the first three legs of this customer’s six-leg acca.

Our mystery punter just needed three more selections at Old Trafford and they didn’t have to wait long for Diogo Dalot’ first-half booking.

But then… disaster strikes.

Winning slip

Ladbrokes

Ipswich Town vs Aston Villa

  • Morgan Rogers to score or assist
  • Lucas Digne to be carded
  • Jacob Greaves to be carded

Man Utd vs Tottenham

  • Diogo Dalot to be carded
  • Dominic Solanke to score or assist
  • Destiny Udogie to be carded > changed to Djed Spence thanks to Paddy Power’s Super Sub promotion
  • Stake £10
  • Odds: 1639/1
  • Returns: £16,400

The bettor had backed Destiny Udogie to be carded, but the Italian left-back was taken off at the break by Ange Postecoglou.

Now with most bookmakers, the dream would be over.

But Paddy Power offer something called Super Sub, which means the selection was changed to Udogie’s replacement – Djed Spence.

Spence quickly obliged with a 54th minute yellow card, leaving the bettor needing Dominic Solanke to score or assist to complete the acca.

That, as we know, came in style in the 77th-minute when turning in Pape Matar Sarr’s headed flick at a corner.

Paddy Power have revealed that over 9.5k other bets were switched from Udogie to Spence on Sunday afternoon using their Super Sub offer, costing them an absolute fortune – £1.6million to be precise!

The Simpsons fans gobsmacked as they FINALLY learn truth about iconic joke – a decade after it first aired

THE Simpsons fans have been left floored to finally realise the truth behind one of the show’s most iconic jokes – TEN tears after it first aired on TV.

The long-running animated sitcom has been airing for a huge 36 series and counting and there has been gags a plenty from its close to 800 episodes.

The truth behind an iconic Simpsons moment has been revealed[/caption]

It came from a Family Guy crossover episode[/caption]

Having aired almost weekly since Christmas in 1989, there have been plenty of jokes for fans to deconstruct over the years but most were left baffled at one of the internet’s latest discoveries.

The moment in question is Ralph Wiggum’s iconic “I’m in danger” line which has gone on to become a fan favourite quote and a daily used meme.

In a shock to fans, it turns out that the infamous moment actually did not come from an episode of The Simpsons at all.

Instead it came from another animated comedy show altogether – Family Guy.

Both programme air on the Fox network in the US and a special crossover episode was aired in 2014.

It was this episode of Family Guy that broadcast Ralph’s famous line.

Many fans were astonished to learn the true origins of the joke moment after it was recirculated online in a nod to its ten year anniversary.

Reacting in surprise, one fan wrote: : “IT’S FROM A FAMILY GUY EPISODE?!

“ITS NOT EVEN FROM THE SIMPSONS? I can’t believe Ralph Wiggum I’m in danger was a Family Guy funny moment the whole time.”

The episode, entitled The Simpsons Guy, was the season 13 premiere of Family Guy and was written entirely by the Family Guy team but The Simpsons voice cast did agree to appear in the special.

Writing online about the episode, one fan said: “Here’s the real kicker. None of the writer from the Simpsons came in to write the episode.

“It’s why Ned Flanders isn’t in the episode, his VA didn’t want to be apart of it.”

Another quickly added:  “This episode could’ve benefited from having both writing teams from both shows working on it instead of just the family guy writers working on it.”

But one fan was left defiant as their disbelief led them to insist it must have been a joke based on a past episode.

Confused, they said: “No, I swear it was a Simpsons episode and this must be a reference.”

The Simpsons Most Memorable Episodes

  • Season 1, Episode 1 (December 1989) – Simpsons Roasting On An Open Fire – the programme kicked off with its very own Christmas special and has gone down in The Simspson history books. In the episode, fans met the clan and sees Bart decide to get a tattoo underage without his parents permission. Marge is then forced to use all the family’s Xmas money on having it removed. Meanwhile, as Homes learns he won’t get a Xmas bonus, he is forced to take a job as a shopping mall Santa.
  • Season 4, Episode 12 (January 1993) – Marge vx The Monorail – In this episode, the residents of Springfield are scammed into believing they will be getting an epic monorail built to take them across the town. It is only Marge and Lisa that are able to not get swept up in the Monorail Mania. The episode is also loved for introducing fans to the Monorail song.
  • Season 6, Episode 25 (May 1995) – Who Shot Mr. Burns Part One – Fans of the show were left surprised when it aired a rare cliffhanger at the end of its sixth season as fans were left wondering who shot the Power Plant owner. Fans were truly left wondering whodunnit.
  • Season 12, Episode 4 (February 2001) – New Kids on the Bleech – This New Kids on the Block based episode had fans singing along all night long. Bart and his pals were recruited to make a boyband supergroup but Lisa quickly realised their hit song was packed with subliminal messeges. Titled Party Posse, their breakout hit was Drop Da Bomb but the chorus’ lyrics Yvan Eht Nioj was quickly uncovered as reading Join The Navy backwards.

Prince William joins David Beckham to view swish new £8m helicopter hours after brother Harry’s glitzy awards bash

PRINCE William has joined David Beckham as they view a new swish £8m helicopter.

He will test drive one of two new aircraft which are the result of the ‘Up Against Time’ fundraising appeal, which was launched in 2021.

The appeal raised £16 million enabling the purchase of two new H135 helicopters – after fears the capital would be left without air ambulances.

William, a former air ambulance pilot, is meeting hero pilots and engineers before taking to the skies.

He was due to fly in a new chopper to a new helipad at the Royal London Hospital but it was cancelled due to bad weather.

The flight is taking place just hours after brother Prince Harry was in London for a glitzy awards bash.

It is not known if Harry met with Wills or dad King Charles during his quick visit.

The Duke of Sussex, 40, made the solo trip to attend WellChild Awards where he met with seriously ill youngsters and their families.

He donned a sophisticated navy blue suit, crisp white shirt and vibrant light blue tie to present an award for Inspirational Child, aged 4 to 6, and deliver a speech.

It marked the duke’s thirteenth appearance after being made charity patron 16 years ago.

He presented an award to Noah Nicholson, six, from Grimsby.

The brave youngster weighed just two pounds when he was born prematurely at 27 weeks.

Since then, he’s had 28 ops, 14 of which were life-saving procedures, and spent the majority of his childhood on hospital wards.

Noah has cerebral palsy, chronic lung disease and short bowel disease – meaning he requires constant round-the-clock care.

At the ceremony Noah threw his soft toys at the prince and laughed as Harry picked them up.

Prince Harry noticed that Noah was carrying a giraffe toy named “Raffy” – the same toy the six-year-old had when they first met in 2019.

He said: “Is this the same one? No way! Every parent has a spare. I’ve got at least six spares.

“My daughter Lili has these Lovies.”

Harry jokingly told Noah that he was “so naughty” after he kept throwing “Raffy” and a white cat toy named George in his direction.

Prince Harry and Prince William's military experience

HARRY served with the British Army for ten years where he rose to the rank of Captain.

He carried out two tours of Afghanistan including a two-month stint in Helmand.

The Duke of Sussex was then promoted to the rank of Lieutenant with The Household Cavalry (Blues and Royals) on April 13, 2008.

Harry later qualified as an Apache helicopter commander in 2013 after three years of training with the Army Air Corps.

While on a five-month tour in Afghanistan, he served as a co-pilot gunner sharing flying duties and taking control of the weapons of the two-man Apache.

William served seven years in the military, with more than three years as a search and rescue pilot.

He left the Royal Air Force (RAF) in 2013 as a rescue pilot to focus on charity interests.

After leaving operational duties with the Armed Forces, Prince William retrained to become an air ambulance pilot.

William worked with the East Anglian Air Ambulance in 2015.

But in January 2017, Kensington Palace announced that he would be completing his work with his last shift on July 15.

He also hailed a group of “little legends” honoured at the awards for “uplifting all those around you” despite serious illnesses.

And he paid tribute to the children and teenagers who act as carers, fundraisers or just carry on with life as they cope with debilitating conditions.

Harry told the young people and their families: “Thank you for your courage, your perseverance, your kindness and of course your humour.

“And thank you for being you and uplifting all those around you. The WellChild Awards is an event that never fails to inspire me.

“The stories of young people who battle against the odds, living lives filled with medical procedures, hospital stays and endless appointments, remind us all of the strength of the human spirit.

“For many of us it is a daily life we can hardly imagine, and yet somehow, the young people I meet are always smiling and every room they walk into seemingly lights up with warmth and positivity.”
