Why is Ousmane Dembele NOT playing for PSG?

Ousmane Dembele has been one of PSG’s standout performers this season with four goals in six games.

But the rapid France forward will be playing no part of the Champions League game against Arsenal.

This is because of a bust-up with PSG boss Luis Enrique.

The fallout is believed to have taken place in the aftermath of PSG’s 3-1 win over Rennes on Friday night, in which Dembele was subbed off eight minutes from time.

Enrique said: “I am not going to create a soap opera out of this.

“There are no problems between us. That is completely false. This is simply about the responsibilities of the player.

“If someone doesn’t comply or respect the expectations of the team, it means they are not prepared to play.

“This match is very important and I want all my players to be ready, so as a consequence I have left him out. I want the best for my team and that is my job.

“These circumstances are difficult and you have to take difficult decisions. But I am 100% engaged with my decision, and 100% sure of the decision I have made.

“It doesn’t mean this is irreversible. I have the support of the club’s president and the sporting director.

“I am here to create a team and in the future that might include Ousmane Dembele, just to be clear.”

When is Arsenal vs PSG?

Arsenal vs PSG takes place on Tuesday, October 1.

The match kicks off at 8pm.

The game is being broadcast live on Amazon Prime Video.

‘One season too far’ says Gary Neville as Man Utd legend doubles down on Premier League title prediction

MANCHESTER UNITED legend Gary Neville has doubled down on his Premier League title prediction.

The 2024-25 campaign is in full swing, with Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal making up the top three.

Arsenal have been tipped to win the Premier League[/caption]

With six games played, the Reds currently sit top, one point ahead of their two rivals.

However, Neville is not convinced Arne Slot‘s side will go all the way.

Instead he believes Arsenal will take the Premier League title for the first time in 21 years.

Speaking to NBC Sports, the ex-Man Utd star explained: “I nominated Arsenal at the start of the season to win the league. I do think they are getting closer.

“They will win the league this season, not because of what happened in the last week with Rodri.

“I just feel that this could be one season too far for Manchester City.

“But look, it’s Pep Guardiola. I think it really seems like he is up for the fight and he is actually taking Mikel Arteta on now in press conferences which is great to see for us.”

City were hit with a huge setback last week when star midfielder Rodri suffered a season-ending ACL injury.

FOOTBALL FREE BETS AND SIGN UP DEALS

Pep Guardiola said: “He had surgery this morning, ACL and some meniscus.

“Next season he will be here. This season is over [for him]. It is what it is.

“Unfortunately, we got the worst [news] but it is what it is at this level. Sometimes, unfortunately, it happens.

“We are just there to support him and [help him make a] good recovery, step by step, and move forward.

“What he gives us, we don’t have a similar player but the other players altogether can replace what Rodri has given since arriving here with us.

“We will have to do it as a team and find a way to play a lot of matches without an important player for us.

“We are stronger with him and stronger with [Nathan] Ake and [Oscar] Bobb and Kevin [De Bruyne], but that is what it is. We don’t want it but it is football.

“As a club we have magnificent players and we will find a solution.”

Man City and Arsenal are the only two teams yet to taste defeat in the Premier League this season.

Changes to the Premier League for 2024/25

NOTHING stays the same forever.

And that includes the Premier League, which is making a number of tweaks this season.

Team news will now be released 75 MINUTES before kick-off, 15 minutes earlier than had been the case before.

Things could get crowded on the touchline, with the number of substitutes permitted to warm-up boosted from three players per team to FIVE.

There’s also a change to how added time is calculated when a team scores a goal, an update to the ‘multiball’ system and the introduction of semi-automated offsides – but not straight away.

Go here to read about all the changes to the Premier League for 2024/25.

Meanwhile, in the dinnerware section customers can find adorable ghost mugs to enjoy their brew in for £4, as well as glass tumblers with a skull for £3.

The discount retailer has also sent shoppers into a frenzy with their extremely cute spooky night pyjamas in orange.

Going for £2 for the top and £3 for the bottoms, the nightwear essential is too good to be slept on – and will keep your tot cosy during bedtime.

Sharing snaps of the bargains she’d spotted on the shelves, another customer, Margaret Rouzet, said: ”Now I’m not really big on Halloween, but oh my how cute are the Ghost/Witch jars and cups?

”Definitely getting a few of these.”

‘Unusual’ Viking burial ground with dozens of rare near-complete skeletons unearthed alongside mysterious ‘grave gifts’

A REMARKABLY intact Viking burial with roughly 50 near-complete human skeletons has been discovered in Denmark.

The forgotten cemetery was unearthed on the island of Funen during preparations to lay electrical cables underground.

Archaeologists from Museum Odense have been working to delicately uncover dozens of human remains, as well as rare artifacts over the past six months.

But what makes the discovery “truly unusual”, according to archaeologist Michael Borre Lundø, who was present at the dig, is that there were “so many well-preserved skeletons” in one place.

Finding any human remains from the Viking Age – between around 793 and 1066 AD – is rare.

Though it is especially rare to find such a well-preserved grave in Scandinavia, due to the typically high acid levels in the soil.

Areas where it is highly acidic will completely destroy bones.

“Normally when we excavate Viking graves, we’d be lucky if there were two teeth left in the grave besides the grave goods. But here we have the skeletons fully preserved,” Lundø told Reuters.

He added: “The skeletons are so amazing. They are so well preserved.

“There are five fingers, five toes. And that opens up a whole new set of possibilities for discoveries.”

The anomalous burial may even provide the first Danish Viking-age bones to undergo DNA testing.

Sarah Croix, associate professor of Archaeology and Heritage Studies at Aarhus University, explained: “The graves in Åsum are so well-preserved that it may be possible, for the first time, to conduct special aDNA analyses on most of the skeletons—meaning DNA analyses on ancient material.

“It will be incredibly exciting to learn where these people came from and whether the same families were buried here across multiple generations.”

It will also allow archaeologists to learn more about the general health, diet, and origins of those buried, according to Lundø.

He added: “The analyses might even reveal whether the buried vikings were related, which would be particularly significant, as this has never been examined in similar graves.”

Glass pearls and broaches

The burial ground covers roughly 2,000 square metres on the outskirts of village Åsum.

Most of the dead are understood to have been quite wealthy in their time.

Rare artifacts such as knives, glass pearls, and brooches dated between the years 850 to 970 AD were also found in the excavation.

These items are typically only associated with high-status individuals.

One woman was even buried in a Viking wagon, with the upper part of the cart used as a coffin.

“The woman was buried in the wagon she likely travelled in,” according to Lundø.

“We must imagine that she was buried with her finest clothes and belongings.”

She was buried with a glass bead necklace, an iron key, a knife with a silver-threaded handle and a small shard of glass that experts believe may have been an amulet.

Inside the Viking woman’s grave is a finely decorated wooden chest, which could have unknown treasures inside.

Archaeologists are yet to open the chest and analyse its contents.

Strange UK burials sites

Here are some of the weirdest...

Leicester car park: King Richard III’s remains

  • In 2012, King Richard III’s skeleton was famously found under a Leicester car park.
  • The corpse had a metal arrow in its back and severe trauma to its skull.
  • The following February, lead archaeologist Richard Buckley, of the University of Leicester, said tests proved the remains were the king’s “beyond reasonable doubt”.
  • Richard was killed in the Battle of Bosworth Field in 1485.
  • His demise was dramatised by Shakespeare, who had the monarch calling out “a horse, a horse, my kingdom for a horse” before he died on battlefield.

Dartmoor: Grave of ‘Bronze Age princess’

  • Its beautiful moor attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors every year, but in 2011, remains thought to belong to a Bronze Age princess were discovered on Dartmoor.
  • The bones – thought to date back over 4,000 years – were found in a peat bog on White Horse Hill alongside a number of remarkable items, including around 150 beads, an animal pelt, a delicate bracelet and a woven bag.
  • The picturesque National Park’s archaeologists were stunned to uncover the grave, which was described at the time as one of the most significant historical finds ever at the site.
  • It is speculated that the grave was that of a young, royal woman.

Rare Oxfordshire stream: 26 human skeletons

  • A beautiful stream in Oxfordshire might look like an unlikely place to find 26 human skeletons – but that’s what happened recently near the precious Letcombe Brook.
  • The skeletons, believed to be from the Iron Age and Roman periods, were discovered during a £14.5 million Thames Water project to ease pressure on the rare chalk stream.
  • Archaeologists believe some may have been victims of ritual human sacrifice.
  • The skeletons are thought to be about 3,000 years old.
  • Evidence of dwellings, animal carcasses and household items, including pottery, cutting implements and a decorative comb, were also unearthed.
  • Cotswold Archaeology removed the items for forensic examination, which meant Thames Water could start laying the six-kilometre pipe.

We spent over £200 trying to win McDonald’s Monopoly – it’s worse every year, but we did save £140 off our next holiday

A COUPLE determined to win the McDonald’s Monopoly revealed how they spent over 3200 trying to win the jackpot prizes.

Brandon and his partner unpeeled hundreds of stickers on McDonald’s items hoping to win but were left disappointed by their luck.

The game ends on October 15 and the pair decided to try their luck on winning the prizes which include £100k in cash, a MINI electric car and £2,000 Jet2Holiday vouchers.

Of course, the game also includes free food items up for grabs as well as smaller prices.

In the clip, the pair had stacks of empty french fry boxes and drink cups as they sat at the table and peeled off the stickers.

They collected them in piles to see if they could win the big prizes but kept winning free food instead.

Brandon had also won a £200 voucher for train tickets which was perfect for him as he could travel to see his favourite football team, West Ham.

As they were going through the mountain of stickers the pair were disappointed as they said every year it gets harder and harder to win.

Brandon said: “They’re literally reducing the odds every year.

“I swear by it. Boring.

“This is ridiculous.”

As Brandon said it and was peeling off one of his last stickers, he threw his hands in the air full of excitement.

The pair had a 25% off voucher for beauty brand Glow Hub which they planned to give to one of their viewers.

He then also found a £70 off voucher for Jet2Holidays, which he was thrilled about as he had won the same voucher earlier as well.

Ending the video the couple revealed: “That’s probably the worst McDonald’s Monopoly ever.

“That is probably the worst stuff we’ve won.”

The clip went viral on their TikTok account @brandoniouk, with over 50k views, and people were quick to share what they had won in the game this year.

One person wrote: “My partner won a maccies gold card… a free McDonald’s meal every week for 52 weeks.”

Another commented: “I had no idea there were vouchers for Jet2, we’re booking up with next year lol, may have to try and win some ourselves.”

“I get excited for the free food,” penned a third.

McDonald's Monopoly 2024

Everything you need to know...

Meanwhile, a fourth said: “I only need one more station for the 200k, if you’ve got it I’ll share.”

“Someone won the car, but you get entered into another draw, so technically the food wins are the best you’re going to get,” claimed a fifth.
