Hezbollah was on cusp of launching chilling Oct 7-style plot dubbed ‘Conquer the Galilee’ before invasion, Israel says

HEZBOLLAH terrorists were on the cusp of launching a chilling October 7-style attack before Israel’s ground invasion.

The IDF said that the terror group was using villages near the border to plan a fresh assault dubbed “Conquer the Galilee.”

The IDF said it would not allow another “October 7-style invasion” to happen – nearly a year after when Hamas stormed the border between Gaza and Israel, slaughtering over 1,200 Israelis and kidnapping hundreds more.

Spokesperson Daniel Hagari said: “Hezbollah turned Lebanese villages next to Israeli villages into military bases already for an attack on Israel.

“Hezbollah had planned “to invade Israel, attack Israeli communities and massacre innocent men, women and children. They called this plan, ‘Conquer the Galilee.’

“We will not let the 7th of October happen again on any one of our borders.”

It comes as…

He added that Israel’s ground raids into southern Lebanon would target Hezbollah strongholds and would not be a war against the Lebanese civilians.

He said: “We have no choice but to do it ourselves. I want to make it clear. Our war is with Hezbollah, not with the people of Lebanon.

“We do not want to harm Lebanese civilians and we’re taking measures to prevent that.”

Israel warned Lebanese civilians not to drive in the area due to “intense fighting.”

Spokesman Avichay Adraee said: “Intense fighting is taking place in southern Lebanon.

“For your personal safety, we ask you not to travel by vehicles from the north to the south of the Litani River.”

Israeli troops launched Operation “Northern Arrows”  last night storming the border in southern Lebanon after a series of airstrikes.

Israeli commanders said the invasion would be “limited, localised and targeted” and would not involve an occupation.

But clashes intensified through the night with Hezbollah launching rocket and artillery barrages toward Israeli troops massing on the border.

Terror troops responded to the onslaught by launching early hours rocket and artillery barrages against the border town of Metula inside Israel.

Hezbollah also said it targeted Mossad’s headquarters in Glilot near Tel Aviv.

It said it “launched salvoes of Fadi 4 rockets at the Glilot base of the military intelligence’s unit 8200 and the Mossad headquarters located on the outskirts of Tel Aviv.”

Israel’s battle-hardened 98th Division were leading the onslaught after being moved north from fighting Hezbollah allies Hamas in Gaza.

The force – believed to number at least 25,000 – included crack paratroopers, commandos and engineers and were being guided by special forces teams who identified targets.

Israel will face up to 50,000 Hezbollah fighters and their network of terror tunnels as the terrorists are stacked up with guns, ammunition and thousands of rockets underground.

Commanders have ordered in a force around twice the size of the last Israeli invasion which withdrew after around a month in 2006.

An Israeli invasion will aim to push Hezbollah forces back across the Litani River running east to west above territory north of the frontier.

Hezbollah's decade of destructive preperation

By Foreign News Reporter Juliana Cruz Lima

Following the 2006 Lebanon War, in which Israel and Hezbollah fought to a bloody standstill, the terror group began preparing for the next conflict.

They constructed a vast underground network across southern Lebanon.

The lessons of that war, in which Hezbollah’s small, mobile units were able to surprise and sometimes overpower Israeli forces, have been embedded in its military doctrine ever since.

The tunnels are now a key part of this strategy, allowing Hezbollah to replicate the tactics of insurgencies around the world: strike fast, disappear, and use the enemy’s size and strength against them.

Some of these tunnels have been found stretching into Israeli territory, designed to facilitate surprise raids deep inside northern Israel.

In 2018, the IDF launched Operation Northern Shield, a months-long mission to detect and destroy Hezbollah’s cross-border tunnels.

The discovery of these tunnels — some reinforced with concrete and running dozens of meters underground — revealed just how advanced Hezbollah’s capabilities had become.

Last month, Hezbollah revealed its hidden terror tunnel network from which missiles can be launched in a chilling threat to Israel.

A blood-curdling video released by the Lebanese terrorists revealed a giant underground roads with enough room for lorries to transport their deadly weapons.

Posters of leaders and soldiers adorn the tall stone walls as heavily armed men speed through the “missile city” in motorbikes.

Trucks loaded with enormous missiles make their way through the dark roads in a frightening glimpse of the terrorists’ arsenal.

Drone footage then shows the seemingly endless terror maze, which also appears to be home to military tech and computers.

Inside the terror tunnels, Hezbollah fighters can move unseen, store weapons, and launch ambushes, creating a dangerous cat-and-mouse game with the IDF.

They can also move into a much larger network of bunkers, missile silos, and command centres, deeply embedded in civilian areas.

These tunnels – which can stretch for miles – link critical positions, allowing Hezbollah fighters to emerge, strike, and then vanish back underground before Israel can respond.

Reports also suggest that Hezbollah has been expanding its tunnel network in southern Lebanon in recent weeks.

Hezbollah was supposed to have left the strip of land under the terms of a 2006 ceasefire deal but has continued to fire more than 9,000 rockets from bases in the area since October 7.

Troops were also understood to be working to clear and dismantle miles of Hezbollah tunnels close to the border.

Surviving Hezbollah chiefs – still reeling from the bunker bomb assassination of their leader Hassan Nasrallah five days ago – vowed to fight to the last man yesterday.

But in his first address since Nasrallah’ death, acting leader Naim Qassem appeared sweaty and uncomfortable as he signalled his badly wounded group’s defiance.

Qassem – one of the few Hezbollah chiefs still standing after at least 20 were taken out in recent days – dabbed his face with a handkerchief as he recorded his speech in a shuttered room.

Nasrallah’s deputy said: “We will face any possibility and we are ready if the Israelis decide to enter by land and the resistance forces are ready for a ground engagement.

“Despite the losses of its commanders, the attacks against civilians throughout Lebanon, and great sacrifices.

“We will not budge from our position. We will continue to support Gaza and to defend Lebanon.

Lebanese troops – whose forces operate independently of Iran-backed Hezbollah – pulled back to sidelines positions three miles from the border and did not take part in the fighting.

But more clashes were also reported early today as Hezbollah fighters claimed to have repelled a push into orchards in Adaisseh and Kafr Kela near the southern frontier.

More battlefields were reported to have erupted around the southern communities of Blida and Ainata.

Israeli sources said the focus of the operation was on clearing out Hezbollah terror sites to halt rocket attacks which have driven 60,000 from homes in Northern Israel in the last 11 months.

Incredible stat shows German press couldn’t be more wrong after they turn on Harry Kane for ‘hanging around alone’

A STUNNING stat proves the German press are wrong in their criticism of Harry Kane.

The England striker has scored ten goals in seven games for Bayern Munich this season – but a column in the newspaper Bild slammed his performance on Saturday.

Harry Kane’s brilliance is being under appreciated by the German media[/caption]

Bayern drew 1-1 with Bayer Leverkusen and Kane made just 13 passes and failed to have a shot before he hobbled off injured with an ankle problem.

They accused him of going missing in big games, with a journalist writing: “Lots of effort, too little success. Harry Kane is hanging around alone up front.

“What good are three goals against Holstein Kiel if he doesn’t even get a shot on goal in a big game like yesterday?

“Fairness dictates that we shouldn’t unleash the Kane-can’t-win-a-title curse now. Especially since he had to leave injured.”

But an incredible stat shows that some are taking the ex-Tottenham man’s brilliance for granted.

Within the last year, Kane has the most goal involvements across Europe’s five major leagues.

He has found the back of the net 38 times and turned provider on 11 occassions.

That gives him a stunning 49 goal involvements, putting him above Erling Haaland on 39 and Kylian Mbappe on 37.

On him allegedly not showing up for the big games, Kane scored eight goals in 12 Champions League matches last season, with four coming in the knockout stages.

And in the Bundesliga, he scored eight times against last term’s top four finishers Leverkusen, Stuttgart and RB Leipzig.

Meanwhile, the data on comparing Kane’s goal involvements to others in Europe highlights the incredible rise of Chelsea’s Cole Palmer and Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins.

On 43 and 36 goals and assists respectively, they are now among the best attackers in Europe.

The stats do not take into account Euro 2024, which further proves Kane, Palmer and Watkins’ talents as they had a hand in 62.5 per cent of England‘s goals at the tournament.

Harry Kane reveals his favourite England goals

HARRY KANE is already England’s all-time record goalscorer.

But the Three Lions skipper will NOT be stopping there.

To mark his 100th cap for his country, Kane spoke to SunSport’s CHARLIE WYETT about some of his special England goals….

FIRST ENGLAND GOAL

“My debut v Lithuania. March 2015.

“There was a lot of talk in the build-up to that camp because I was playing well for Spurs.

“I got a great reception and within a couple of minutes I scored a goal.

“I don’t think I could have dreamed it any better.

“My friends and family were there. That was a really special night.”

FAVOURITE ENGLAND GOAL

“It’s between two, for me.

“Against Germany, the one at Wembley in Euro 2020.

“Also, the header against Tunisia at the World Cup in 2018.

“That moment of scoring a last-minute winner at my first World Cup was special.”

BEST ENGLAND GOAL

“The one I scored in Poland away in a World Cup qualifier in 2021. It was from 25 yards.”

(Kane picked up the ball from Kyle Walker, advanced towards goal and put his foot through it.)

“It kind of drifted away and it was a good strike, probably my furthest-out goal for England.”

Exact date millions of energy customers must submit meter readings for major suppliers as energy price cap rises TODAY

ENERGY bills will rise for millions of households from today as the new price cap comes into effect.

The cap rose by 10%, adding £149 a year to the typical bill of a household with a dual fuel tariff which pays via direct debit.

Millions of households must submit a meter reading to ensure their bills are accurate[/caption]

Households will now pay £1,717 a year for their energy, up from £1,568 under the previous threshold.

But energy bills are expected to fall again to £1,697 a year in January, according to the latest predictions from analysts Cornwall Insight.

These thresholds are used to show how much a typical family could expect to spend on their energy bill each year.

But the amount they will actually pay each month will depend on their usage and can be higher or lower than this cap.

The threshold applies to the 28million households who are on a standard variable tariff, which fluctuates with the wholesale price of energy every three months.

Some households are on a fixed tariff, which means the rate they pay stays the same for their whole contract and is not subject to the cap.

To avoid being charged more than you should it’s essential that you submit a meter reading as soon as possible when the price cap changes.

Doing so ensures that all of the energy you used before October 1 is charged at the lower rate.

The exact date you need to submit a meter reading by differs depending on your supplier and some will allow you to backdate the reading to the date it was taken.

Some providers will even give you an extra fortnight to send in your reading.

But if you miss the deadline and do not submit a reading then you will be given an estimated bill.

These bills are calculated based on a prediction of your power use.

This could mean that some of the energy you used before the new cap came into effect could be charged at the wrong rate.

As a result you could receive a bill that is more than the amount you should actually need to pay.

Here we reveal the exact dates that you need to submit a meter reading to each supplier as the energy price cap changes.

When to submit your meter reading

You should try to take your meter reading as close to October 1 as possible to reflect your energy use up until this point.

Once you have taken the reading you have a certain period of time to submit it to your supplier.

The amount of time you have will depend on who your energy provider is.

British Gas customers have until October 14 to send in a reading and can do so online, via its app, web form or by telephone.

Households which are supplied by EDF have until October 9 to send in their meter reading online, via its app, online form, email, WhatsApp, text or over the phone.

E.on Next customers have a week from today to submit their reading and can do so in their online account, via its app, email or by telephone.

Octopus Energy users also have until October 8 to send in their reading and need to do so online, via its web form, app or by email.

At Ovo Energy you can send in your reading in your online account, via its app or over the phone and need to do so by October 11.

Scottish Power customers need to submit their reading by October 5 and can do so through their online account, via its app or by telephone 24 hours a day.

There is no deadline to submit a meter reading at So Energy but you can do so if you have proof of the date you took it.

You can submit it in your online account, by email or by telephone 24 hours a day.

Finally, Utility Warehouse customers needed to give a reading in the five days leading up to October 1 and submit it in their online account, through its app or by telephone.

How to submit a meter reading

The easiest way to take a meter reading is to take a picture of your gas and electricity meters so that you have evidence in case you need to dispute a bill.

You can submit your reading online via your energy account.

Some providers will also let you send in the figures by text or through an app.

Check the options that are available with your own supplier.

Electricity meters

If you have a digital electricity meter, you will see a row of six numbers – five in black and one in red.

Only take down the five numbers in black.

If you are on an Economy 7 or 10 tariff, which gives you cheaper electricity at night, then you will have two rows of numbers and you need both.

If you have a traditional dial meter you will need to read the first five dials from left to right, again you do not need the red ones.

If the pointer is between two numbers, write down the lower figure.

If it is between nine and zero then write down the number nine.

What energy bill help is available?

THERE'S a number of different ways to get help paying your energy bills if you're struggling to get by.

If you fall into debt, you can always approach your supplier to see if they can put you on a repayment plan before putting you on a prepayment meter.

This involves paying off what you owe in instalments over a set period.

If your supplier offers you a repayment plan you don’t think you can afford, speak to them again to see if you can negotiate a better deal.

Several energy firms have grant schemes available to customers struggling to cover their bills.

But eligibility criteria varies depending on the supplier and the amount you can get depends on your financial circumstances.

For example, British Gas or Scottish Gas customers struggling to pay their energy bills can get grants worth up to £2,000.

British Gas also offers help via its British Gas Energy Trust and Individuals Family Fund.

You don’t need to be a British Gas customer to apply for the second fund.

EDF, E.ON, Octopus Energy and Scottish Power all offer grants to struggling customers too.

Thousands of vulnerable households are missing out on extra help and protections by not signing up to the Priority Services Register (PSR).

The service helps support vulnerable households, such as those who are elderly or ill, and some of the perks include being given advance warning of blackouts, free gas safety checks and extra support if you’re struggling.

Get in touch with your energy firm to see if you can apply.

Gas meters

If you have a digital metric gas meter showing five numbers and then a decimal place, you only need to write down the first five numbers.

If you have a digital imperial meter, your meter will read four black numbers and two red numbers – note down the four black numbers only.

If you have a dial gas meter, follow the same steps as the dial electricity meter.

Smart meters

If you have a smart meter then you do not need to submit a reading as this is taken automatically and is sent to your supplier directly.

But you should check that your smart meter is in “smart mode” and is working properly to make sure that you are accurately charged.

You do not need to submit a meter reading if you have a fixed energy tariff or a traditional prepayment meter.

The right-back has featured in five Premier League games for the Cherries so far, but was an unused substitute on the bench as they beat south coast rivals Southampton 3-1 on Monday.

Goals from Evanilson, Dango Ouattara and Antoine Semenyo before half-time were enough to secure the win despite Taylor Harwood-Bellis pulling one back after the break.

And following Bournemouth’s second league win of the season in the derby, Araujo made good on a promise he had made to fans.

A video shared on the club’s social media page showed the Mexican surrounded by Bournemouth fans who were singing.

He can be seen smiling and waving his hand in the air, while also clutching a pool cue in his left hand.

The video was captioned: “‘If we beat Southampton I’ll come back to the pub and celebrate!’ Juliàn Araujo, you are special.”

Reacting to his appearance, one social media user said: “Priceless. Need more footballers like this.”

A second said: “This is what it’s all about.”

A third said: “Ah man he did it!!! – what a guy, love him already.”

Another said: “Absolutely spectacular.”

A fifth said: “This is class.”

Araujo had joined Barcelona from LA Galaxy and spent a season on loan at Las Palmas before his transfer to Bournemouth.

The win moved Andoni Iraola’s side up to 11th in the league, while Southampton remain 19th with just one point to their name.

Bournemouth travel away to Leicester – another team promoted from the Championship last season – in their next match.

Katie looked younger than ever after recently undergoing a £10k facelift and she showed off the results as she strutted around the pool.

Her dark black hair was pushed off her face after a dip in the water, revealing her incredibly tight jaw and eye line.

After cooling off, Katie – who was dressed in a pale green bikini top with coloured bottoms – went and sat beside JJ on the sun bed.

She leaned in to give him a kiss before laying down to work on her tan.

The mum –of-five jetted abroad over the weekend, despite her ongoing financial troubles.

She has shared a number of pics of Harvey enjoying himself by the pool and playing with Peppa Pig during their holiday.

Her last big trip abroad was to Turkey for a string of new cosmetic surgeries including a new facelift.

But in recent weeks, fans of the star have been quick to share their concern about the eye area of Katie’s new face.

Following the operation, she documented her recovery with a series of photographs, including some gruesome shots of her looking battered and bruised.

Katie also admitted to suffering with her eyesight shortly after the invasive procedure.

The ex-model has spent more than £500k on cosmetic surgery over the years and she was back having another procedure earlier this month.

Katie had ‘the butterfly lip’ done, which uses surgical tape and filler to leave the lips excessively big and turned upwards in a butterfly shape.

But she’s still not finished her latest transformation and told fans she still wants to change her bottom.

“They look spot on. I am so happy with how I look. I am happy.

‘The only thing I’m not happy with now is the bum. I’ve lost weight. So, Ellie has checked my bum out.

“That is the next thing to be filled. A nice, courageous, plump, plum bum.

Oct 1: Kano residents shun protest

Residents of Kano have ignored the ongoing nationwide protest as they went about their daily activities without disruption.
