How Israel is snubbing out Iranian ‘ring of fire’ with Lebanon invasion…as it emerges even top Iran spy is double agent

ISRAEL is destroying Iran’s “ring of fire” by launching its long-awaited ground invasion against Hezbollah fanatics in Lebanon, a former Israeli Major said.

Ahron Bregman, who served in the Israeli military for six years, told The Sun that “all eyes” are on Iran after the IDF launched Operation ‘Northern Arrows’ against the Tehran puppets.

Dr Bregman, now a senior teaching fellow at King’s College London, said the Israelis are destroying Hezbollah and Tehran’s “ring of fire”.

For years, Israel has been facing a seven-front war with Iranian-funded forces causing havoc from Lebanon, Yemen, Iraq, Syria, the Gaza Strip and the West Bank as well as Iran itself.

Dr Bregman told The Sun: “All eyes are on Iran. They face a massive strategic decision about what to do next.

“The Israelis are shredding Iran’s most important proxy.

“Iran tried to build a circle of fire around Israel and the circle of fire is falling apart.

“Iran’s big strategy, the big ideas and big plan is destroyed.”

Dr Bregman, who fought in the 1982 Lebanon war, added: “Iran will be looking now to see whether Hezbollah does hit back in the Israeli invasion.

“If Hezbollah do, that’s good news for Iran. But the decision is bigger than that for Iran.

“Do they rebuild Hezbollah or do they abandon it? Or do they attack Israel directly because Israel is destroying Iran’s most important ally and proxy in the Middle East.”

Dr Bregman said he believes Iran will hesitate before directly striking Israel now that Hezbollah are on the run.

He said: “If Iran does strike, Tehran know that the Israelis could attack their oil refineries and nuclear facilities.

“Iran knows this, so it’s a massive strategic decision on what to do next.”

Israel has since vowed to “crush Hezbollah” in a chilling statement hours after launching its long-awaited ground offensive.

Defending Israel’s position, National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir called for continued operations to “crush the terrorist organization” to allow residents who have fled Northern Israel to return home safely.

He said: “The decisions we made in the last few days are important, correct and necessary.

“At the same time, this is the time not to stop, [we must] continue doing everything, with all our might.

“I pray for the success of the IDF soldiers who are currently fighting in difficult conditions in southern Lebanon; the people of Israel stand behind them.”

It comes as…

Today, 25,000 Israeli troops intensified their ground campaign in southern Lebanon to destroy Hezbollah rocket sites.

Israeli commanders stated that the assault would be “limited, localised, and targeted” and would not include an occupation.

However, fighting escalated throughout the night, with Hezbollah unleashing rocket and artillery barrages at Israeli troops massing on the border.

Terrorists launched rocket and artillery attacks on Metula, an Israeli border town, in response to the onslaught.

Netanyahu’s men will also will face up to 50,000 Hezbollah fighters and their network of terror tunnels as the terrorists are stacked up with guns, ammunition and thousands of rockets underground.

Commanders have ordered in a force around twice the size of the last Israeli invasion which withdrew after around a month in 2006.

The IDF said it would not allow another “October 7-style invasion” to happen accusing the terror group of planning to use villages near the border for an attack on Israeli homes.

IDF spokesperson Daniel Hagari said “Hezbollah turned Lebanese villages next to Israeli villages into military bases already for an attack on Israel.

“Hezbollah had planned “to invade Israel, attack Israeli communities and massacre innocent men, women and children. They called this plan, ‘Conquer the Galilee.’

“We will not let the 7th of October happen again on any one of our borders.”

The IDF's Analysis of Hezbollah

by Juliana Cruz Lima, Foreign News Reporter

AN analysis by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said that Hezbollah, under the leadership of Hassan Nasrallah, has evolved into a well-armed terrorist organisation, presenting a significant threat to Israeli security.

With strong backing from Iran, Hezbollah’s military capabilities and strategic positioning in Lebanon continue to shape the region’s security dynamics.

Military Strength and Sophisticated Armaments: The IDF assesses that Hezbollah maintains a robust military force with 20,000-25,000 full-time fighters, supported by tens of thousands of reserves.

The organisation’s elite Radwan Unit, trained and equipped by Iran’s Quds Force, is noted for its expertise in conducting operations against Israel, including potential incursions into Israeli territory.

Hezbollah’s vast arsenal consists of over 150,000 rockets and missiles, making it one of the most heavily armed non-state actors globally.

Its weaponry, including Iranian-made Fajr-5 and Zelzal-2 rockets, has the capability to strike deep into Israeli territory, posing a direct and immediate threat.

Advanced Warfare Capabilities: The IDF highlights Hezbollah’s advancements in modern warfare, facilitated by Iranian support.

This includes access to advanced anti-ship missiles, anti-tank weapons, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

Hezbollah’s ability to target Israeli naval assets was demonstrated during the 2006 conflict, where it effectively used anti-ship missiles.

The organisation’s UAV capabilities, with ranges up to 400 km, are seen as a growing threat to Israeli airspace and ground operations.

Hassan Nasrallah’s Leadership and Strategy: The IDF acknowledges that Nasrallah has been central to Hezbollah’s development from a militia into a hybrid political-military organization.

Since taking leadership in 1992, Nasrallah has focused on expanding Hezbollah’s rocket arsenal and enhancing its military capabilities.

His extremist ideology, particularly his anti-Semitic rhetoric, reinforces Hezbollah’s hostility towards Israel, while his leadership from hiding underlines the constant threat he poses despite his physical absence from public life.

Major Hezbollah Attacks: Hezbollah has been involved in numerous high-profile terrorist attacks, many of which have targeted Israel and Western interests.

The IDF emphasises that, until 9/11, Hezbollah was responsible for more American deaths than any other terrorist organisation.

It is widely recognised as a global terrorist entity by many nations, including the U.S., the UK, Canada, and Israel.

Hezbollah’s Role in Lebanon’s Crisis: Lebanon’s ongoing economic collapse and political instability have created an environment in which Hezbollah wields disproportionate power.

The IDF warns that Hezbollah’s control and influence over Lebanon’s institutions and its military activities continue to threaten regional stability.

Israel-Hezbollah Conflict: The IDF provides a detailed account of Hezbollah’s ongoing military engagement with Israel, most notably during the 2006 Second Lebanon War.

The conflict, sparked by a Hezbollah attack on Israeli soldiers, resulted in the deaths of hundreds of Hezbollah fighters and significant destruction in Lebanon.

Despite this, Hezbollah has since rebuilt its forces and amassed a larger, more sophisticated arsenal, positioning itself as perhaps the most formidable terrorist organisation in the world.

Conclusion: The IDF concludes that Hezbollah, under Nasrallah’s leadership and backed by Iran, represents a major threat to regional security.

Its advanced military capabilities, particularly its extensive rocket and missile arsenal, coupled with its ideological commitment to attacking Israel, make it a key destabilising force in the Middle East.

As Lebanon faces severe internal challenges, Hezbollah’s role will likely continue to influence the region’s security landscape.

Ferencvaros vs Tottenham preview

It was a bit of a sticky start for Tottenham to kick-off the new season.

But four wins on the bounce and they’re now purring, and scoring plenty of goals along the way.

It’s difficult to know how good they were in tearing Manchester United apart a few days ago, or whether United were having one of their frequent dodgy days.

They were a class above that day and it marked the third successive game where they’ve scored three goals.

Doing so without Son Heung-min, too. It helps that Brennan Johnson is a new man, scoring in four consecutive games.

Ange Postecoglou’s footballing icon Ferenc Puskas hailed from Hungary and the Aussie’s style of play and attacking mindset was based on working with the great man. He’ll be so determined to show what his side can do here.

Ferencvaros top the Hungarian top flight with six wins from six, beating Puskas Academy 3-0 who themselves were unbeaten before the weekend.

They lost their opening Europa League game 2-1 at Anderlecht.

Watch moment desperate man BITES giant anaconda to stop himself from being crushed to death

THIS is the dramatic moment a man bites a giant anaconda to stop the ghastly serpent crushing him to death.

The man was in the water in the Amazon, Brazil, when he was forced to sink his teeth into the massive snake that wrapped itself around him.

Terrifying footage shows him struggling with the powerful serpent as he stands in chest-deep water before narrowly escaping death.

In a desperate bid to save himself from being overpowered by the snake, the man sinks his teeth into the snake near its head.

This is happening while another man, presumably his friend, grabs the anaconda’s tail.

At the same time, a third man tries to uncoil the water boa from their wooden boat.

One of the men then grabs the snake by the neck as it is raised onto the boat in the terrifying scenes in Terra Santa on Sunday.

More than half a minute passes until the beast eventually gives up and unwraps itself from its would-be victim.

It is not known whether the man sustained injuries after grappling with the powerful snake.

Anaconda attacks are rare but can occur in the rivers and creeks of the Amazon jungle, where the reptiles typically live.

The anaconda, also called water boa, is one of the largest snakes in the world.

They can grow over 26ft long and can weigh more than 440lbs but are not venomous.

To kill their prey, they wrap their body around the animal and use their brute strength to squeeze it until it can no longer breathe, before swallowing them whole.

It comes just weeks after a fisherman in Malaysia was tragically killed in a horror crocodile attack while collecting his nets.

Brono Kamil Nahak was last seen heading towards the river to carry out his routine job.

When the 25-year-old failed to return, concerned colleagues went to search that evening.

However, they only found the victim’s T-shirt, shoes, cap, motorbike, and a ripped net at his fishing spot in Kinabatangan, Malaysia.

Suspecting he might have been attacked by a crocodile, they immediately informed the local fire department.

A search operation was then launched and the victim’s body was reportedly found less than a mile from where was apparently dragged into the water by the croc.

The fisherman’s body was handed over to the police to investigate his exact cause of death.

How £32million Mikel Merino will revolutionise Arsenal midfield and give Declan Rice new lease of life in different role

MIKEL ARTETA is hoping to finally unleash his caged animal this week.

Arsenal have been coping with a midfield injury crisis in the early weeks of this season after skipper Martin Odegaard’s ankle injury while on international duty last month.

But the 28-year-old is poised to make his debut for the North Londoners against PSG tonight[/caption]

But the real kick in the teeth was the blow for £32m summer arrival Mikel Merino – breaking a bone in his shoulder in his very first training session at London Colney in late August.

Signed from Real Sociedad with a reputation as one of Europe’s most feared duel monsters, the Spanish midfielder was sidelined after losing a collision with new teammate Gabriel.

As a result, the likes of Thomas Partey and Jorginho have been forced to carry the majority of the workload in an intense period that saw Arsenal travel to Tottenham and Manchester City.

Mikel Arteta will be without Merino for tonight’s Champions League clash with PSG, but he has been pictured back in full training and is targeting making the squad for Arsenal’s Prem outing at home to Southampton on Saturday.

Arteta said recently: “We are trying to keep him in the cage.

“Because he’s been pushing everyone — the physios, the doctors, everybody — and he’s ready to go.

“He really wants it. We are comfortable exposing him with contact and he looks really good in training.”

What will he bring?

Despite his frustratingly ironic injury in an aerial battle with Gabriel, what Merino will bring primarily is a dominance both in the air and with ball at feet in the middle of the pitch.

BEST FREE BET SIGN UP OFFERS FOR UK BOOKMAKERS

a poster for the arsenal champions league fixtures

The 28-year-old won 326 duels last season – the most of any player in Europe’s top five leagues, with 168 of them coming in the air.

Standing at 6ft2, his usefulness at set-pieces in attack and defence and crosses would also have been key for Arteta when recruiting the player for his squad.

Those who watched Spain at the Euros this summer would have seen this first hand as Merino headed in an extra-time winner to knock out hosts Germany in the quarter-finals.

But Merino is not just midfield muscle. His technical ability and intelligence will also be on show. Arteta added: “He’s going to bring first an unbelievable football brain.

“He’s so intelligent, the way he decides, he occupies spaces, he makes decisions.

“It’s very rare to see that. And he’s a very talented player, in every phase — defending, attacking.

“He can do things that complement really well the quality we have in midfield. Physicality, for sure, and then he’s a big threat.

“The moment that he’s in the opponent’s box, you’ll see that he’s a big, big threat.”

Merino has already proven himself to be a sociable team member off the pitch, attending David Raya‘s birthday party alongside Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus just weeks after his shoulder injury.

Mikel Merino is one of the Gunners’ most multi-faceted players[/caption]

WHERE WILL HE PLAY

Merino is multi-faceted when it comes to the role he will play in Arteta’s midfield.

When needed, Merino can slot in at the defensive base of the three, allowing Odegaard and Declan Rice to play in more advanced positions.

But being left-footed, he can also play as a marauding eight – similar to Rice – so gives Arteta plenty of options for team selections and mid-game alterations.

It will also give Partey and Jorginho – both in their 30s and lacking the legs to play multiple 90-minute games in a week – the chance for a rest.

With everyone back fit, Arsenal’s bench will suddenly look incredibly healthy and full of depth and quality with Merino, Rice, Odegaard, Partey and Jorginho to choose from.

And let’s not forget the experience and knowledge Merino can pass on to Arsenal’s young stars, in particular 17-year-old Ethan Nwaneri who is still finding his feet in the first team.

Brit boxer convicted of MURDER in Spain after stabbing ‘defenceless’ teen in road rage clash as he faces 25yrs in prison

A BRITISH boxer was today convicted of murdering a Spanish teenager following a petty Costa del Sol ‘road rage’ spat.

Lewis Briggs, 24, hung his head as he was found guilty of jumping out of his Mercedes and fatally stabbing his “defenceless” victim in a “surprise” attack.

Brit Lewis Harry Briggs was today convicted of murdering a Spanish teenager[/caption]

Ulrich Perez’s family were not in the courtroom in Malaga at the end of the six-day-long trial to hear jurors return their verdict just over 24 hours after they were sent out to deliberate.

But the Brit expat’s mum Michelle burst into tears after hearing her son could be jailed for nearly 25 years in the coming days as two plain-clothes police officers led him into custody pending sentencing.

The nine jurors ruled by a 8-1 majority it had been proven Briggs murdered Ulrich, 19, near his home in Diana Park between the resort towns of Marbella and Estepona as his victim returned from running an errand for his mum.

The jury foreman announced in a short address to the court they had also unanimously concluded the personal trainer, who boxed at a gym linked to Irish crime boss Daniel Kinahan, had changed the number plates on his rented UK-plated Mercedes after his horror crime to try to throw police off the scent.

Ulrich died after being kicked and then stabbed in the heart just after 2.30pm on November 18 2020.

He had berated Briggs less than two minutes earlier for driving too fast towards a zebra crossing he was standing by.

B&M shoppers rush to buy cheap gadgets to avoid putting heating on including heated slippers – prices start from £12

THOUSANDS of Brits are facing concerns about how to keep warm this winter – but with the right kit, they won’t even need to turn the heating on.

Shoppers are rushing to B&M to buy its bargain heated gadgets which will keep them toasty for as cheap as £12.

a b & m advertisement shows a variety of products
You can stay warm this winter for less with B&M’s heated products, starting at £12

The new range of cosy products boasts a Restore massaging foot warmer (£20) and rechargeable hot water bottle (£15).

There are also multiple heated products from Naeo, including a body cushion (£12), lumber belt (£20), neck vibrator (£12) and slippers (£29).

The new range comes just in time for October 1, as the new energy price cap is implemented and bills begin to peak this winter.

The new energy price cap, which limits the amount that can be charged, will be around 10% higher than the current level which has been in place since July.

Ofgem, which sets the limit, revealed that bills will rise this month from an average of £1,568 to £1,717.

This means the average household paying by direct debt for dual fuel (electricity and gas) will see their annual bill go up by £149, or around £12 a month.

Therefore it’s a great idea to find alternative ways of keeping yourself warm, before heating your home.

By heating yourself instead of your home, you could save £100s off your energy bill – for example, electric blankets cost as little as 3p an hour.

These products are effective in the same way, and if battery powered, costs 0p to run – besides the cost of the batteries, which cost £8 for 12 on Amazon.

Let’s say that’s 2 batteries a month, you’ll be spending £1.30 a month on heating where the average household pays £400-500 a month (according to Plumr.com).

The shoes, and neck and waist warmers, also mean you can keep warm all over your body, while on the move around the house.

The range is not yet visible on the B&M website, but is available to hunt down in store.

This is according to B&M who posted images of the new cosy products on Facebook and said: “Everything I’ve ever need and more! Cosy season, we’re ready for you!”

Others commented: “I need these!” and “This will be a good idea for Nan”.

Heated items could also be a great tool for pensioners this colder season, who have had their Winter Fuel allowances stripped from them in new cuts by the new Labour government.

Following Chancellor Rachel Reeves‘ announcement of a £22bn black hole in public finances, winter fuel payments will now only go to pensioners who are receiving pension credit or any other means-tested benefit.

By spending £20 on a Restore massaging foot warmer, and £12 on a body cushion, a pensioner could be sufficiently heated for the evening, spending a one off payment of £32 but saving £100s over the winter.

However, it is also important to note that the elderly should not avoid turning the heating on if they are cold – for energy help contact your provider or local council, or read our article here.

To find your nearest B&M store, visit the website and use the Store Locator tool.

Products vary site to site, and as the items are brand new, they may not have hit your local yet.

Naeo neck vibrator – £12

The vibrating neck wrap is the cheapest item of the range, costing only £12 and coming with a lavender and sea salt eye mask.

On the box it is described to be “weighted for comfort” with “comfortable fabric” and “relaxing vibration”.

The item is not heated, but great for relaxation when paired with the other products on this list.

The product is battery-powered so you simply place the product around your neck and turn it on.

Similar items are retailing in John Lewis and Argos, such as the Dreamland Neck vibrator which costs £59.

A William Morris at Home lavender eye mask also costs £14, meaning the B&M punter saves spending £61 with their singular purchase.

Naeo heated cushion – £12

Shoppers are also going crazy for the £12 heated body cushion, which can also serve as a hand warmer.

The product is also battery-powered so requires just a simple installation and to be turned on.

Reusable hand warmers cost as much as £20 in Boots, and heated cushions £100 – meaning you could be saving £88 on this one item.

Restore rechargeable hot water bottle – £15

What makes this water bottle different to others is its smart charging port, which allows it to be ready to turn on whenever you need it.

It is ready to use in just under 25 minutes, and has automatic temperature control to prevent it getting too hot.

With the Restore rechargeable hot water bottle for £15, you could be making a save of up to £17, with Argos selling a similar product for £32 – double the price.

Other places which sell electric heat pads include Currys and Electrical World, for prices of £24 to £35.

Restore massaging foot warmer – £20

For £20, the Restore massaging foot warmer can keep you cosy and relaxed for bargain price.

You simply plug the warmer in and turn it on, put your feet inside and wait for it to heat up.

This is compared to the Well Being heated foot massager in Sports Direct, which costs £32.

Similar products are also selling fast on Amazon for £40, meaning you’re beating the crowd with a 50% save.

Naeo lumber belt – £20

Heated lumber belts are often pretty pricey to get your hands on.

The battery powered belt wraps around your waist and warms your lower back and stomach.

The John Lewis Dreamland Revive Me belt is selling for £48.53, and on Amazon, as much as £49.99.

This means almost a £30 save on the Naeo product.

Naeo heated slippers – £29

The slightly pricier B&M heated slippers are £29, but compared to other retailers, it’s a steal.

These work via battery-power, meaning you can use them again and again.

On Amazon, the Heated Slippers Amiable Foot Warmer is selling for £59.

However, in The Range, you can secure USB Electric Heated Plush slippers for £13 – though this means you can’t wear them walking around the house.

B&M’s Naeo product is battery operated, with “anti-slip soles” and “smooth heating”, so you can keep warm while doing everything you usually get done at home.

5 ways to keep your house warm in winter

Property expert Joshua Houston shared his tips.

1. Curtains

“Windows are a common place for the outside cold to get into your home, this is because of small gaps that can let in air so always close your curtains as soon as it gets dark,” he said.

This simple method gives you an extra layer of warmth as it can provide a kind of “insulation” between your window and curtain.

2. Rugs

“Your floor is another area of your home where heat can be lost and can make your home feel chilly,” he continued. “You might notice on cold days, that your floor is not nice to walk on due to it freezing your feet.

“Add rugs to areas that don’t already have a carpet, this provides a layer of insulation between your bare floor and the room above.”

3. Check your insulation

Check your pipes, loft space, crawlspaces and underneath floorboards.

“Loose-fill insulation is very good for this, and is a more affordable type of insulation, with a big bag being able to be picked up for around £30,” Joshua explained.

4. Keep your internal doors closed

“Household members often gather in one room in the evening, and this is usually either the kitchen or living room,” Joshua said.

“This means you only have to heat a small area of your home, and closing the doors keeps the heat in and the cold out.”

5. Block drafts

Don’t forget to check cat flaps, chimneys and letterboxes, as they can let in cold air if they aren’t secure.

Other retailers which sell affordable home heating appliances include Dunelm and The Range

Dunelm is selling a Cream Borg Heatable Foot Warmer for £15 – though keep in mind this does not include delivery charges if you are ordering online.

The Range is also selling a larger Cosy Heat Portable Heater for £24, which can be lied on to keep you extra warm.

Electric blankets are also a great option, and can be found on Wowcher for the low price of £19.99.

As always, we recommend you compare prices by going to retailer websites such as B&M and and choosing the “sort by” tool – you can then browse the “cheapest items first”.

Or for a more specific search look up in the search bar “heated appliances”.

Some energy support funds are also offering free electric blankets to customers who are struggling this winter.

OVO and Octopus Energy are both suppliers who have aimed at “heating the human, not the home”.

Octopus have said they will distribute 20,000 electric blankets from Dreamland to its most vulnerable customers, keeping them warm for “as little as 3p an hour”.

While OVO Energy has launched a £50 million Extra Support Package which includes complimentary energy-conserving items.

Electric blankets are also sometimes available from your council under the Household Support Fund, which renews a fresh pot of £421 million today.

To find out if this is available with your supplier or council, and whether you are eligible, go to their websites and read the terms and conditions of the scheme.
