Boy, 18, found guilty of stabbing man, 21, to death after victim used dying breaths to name his murderer

A TEENAGE boy has been found guilty of murdering a man who named him in his dying breath after being fatally stabbed.

Sanchez Tate, 18, had attacked 21-year-old Mohamed Abdi Noor, who had blamed him for knocking over his motorbike.

The defendant denied murder and claimed he had acted in self-defence.

Following a trial at the Old Bailey a jury found him guilty of the charge on Tuesday.

Mr Abdi Noor had suffered a fatal stab wound to the chest during the incident last December 11 on Tufnell Park Road in Kentish Town, north London, where both men lived.

Emergency services were called to the scene as Tate ran off towards his home and was arrested soon after.

Prosecutor Catherine Pattison had said: “Before he lost consciousness, Mr Abdi Noor said ‘Sanchez’ and repeated it – meaning the name of the person who had stabbed him.”

Married motorcycle enthusiast Mr Abdi Noor was taken to hospital where he died early the next morning.

Ms Pattison told jurors: “The level of violence was out of all proportion for what was needed to rob someone.

“It has the hallmarks of targeted, if spontaneous, violence against a known individual, whatever lay behind it.”

The court heard that Tate and Mr Abdi Noor knew each other because they lived in the same road but they were not friends.

Mr Abdi Noor had a “passion for pedal cycles and motorbikes” and told his wife after an earlier incident allegedly involving Tate.

Ms Pattison said he had gone to check his motorbike in his estate parking lot and found it on the ground.

He asked some teenagers who had knocked it over and they pointed to Tate.

The prosecutor said: “Mr Abdi Noor told Mr Tate that he needed to pay for the damage – a scratch and some parts were damaged.

“Nothing else appeared to come of it. As it happened, Mr Abdi Noor took his motorbike to be repaired.

“The damage to the motorbike was still being repaired on the date Mr Abdi Noor died.”

Judge Mark Dennis KC adjourned sentencing until November 21 following the guilty verdict.

He told the defendant he needed more information about his “plainly rather troubled past”.

One in 4 Brits AVOID dialling 999 opting to drive, walk or just dodge A&E due to delays, shocking investigation finds

ONE in four Brits have avoided calling for an ambulance over fears it would take too long to arrive, a shocking new poll reveals.

Instead, 25 per cent opted for a taxi, 18 per cent walked to A&E, and a staggering 17 per cent stayed home, risking their health.

Nearly half of Brits, 49 per cent, are also worried they will face a 12-hour wait in A&E if the NHS is hit by another winter crisis while 45 per cent fear they won’t be able to see their local GP.

The Savanta poll of 2,028 people, commissioned by the Lib Dems, comes after NHS chiefs warned healthcare services are likely to come under “significant pressure” and many patients will face longer waits for care during winter.

Lib Dem leader Ed Davey said: “The last Conservative Government’s incompetence and neglect has driven the NHS to breaking point.

“The situation is now so bad that patients are worried that when they call 999 or their local GP, they won’t receive the care they so desperately need.

Winter after winter the NHS has faced the same crises and the Conservatives never did more than paper over the cracks.

“Even now the Conservative leadership candidates are too busy firing insults at each other instead of taking responsibility for fixing the damage they did to our health service.

“The crisis in the NHS must be tackled head on without delay.

“From crumbling hospitals to sky-high waiting lists, the new Government must make fixing the health service their top priority.

“Patients will pay the price if they fail.”

A&E busier than ever

A&E departments have had their busiest summer ever, according to the NHS.

More patients on wards and in casualty increases the likelihood of ambulance delays as it takes longer to hand patients over to hospital and get back on the road.

On average, ambulance services in England do not meet response time targets.

Sir Julian Hartley, chief of NHS Providers which represents hospital bosses, said: “Anyone in an emergency who needs help fast should call 999 right away.

“In England, demand is a third higher than before the pandemic for the most serious ambulance calls.

“It has gone through the roof but NHS trusts and staff continue to work flat out to see patients as quickly as possible.

“Recent months have been some of the busiest ever for callouts but the latest figures show improved ambulance response times.”

A Department of Health and Social Care spokesperson said: “We inherited a broken NHS and it is appalling that some patients fear they cannot rely on our ambulance services.

“It is our mission to get the health service back on its feet, including by supporting the NHS to improve ambulance response times.

“Through our 10-year plan for health, we will build an NHS fit for the future that is there for people when and where they need it.”

When to call 999 for adults and children

You should call 999 in life-threatening emergencies.

For adults, this includes:

  • Signs of a heart attack (chest pain, pressure, heaviness, tightness, squeezing)
  • Signs of a stroke (face dropping on one side, unable to hold both arms up, difficulty speaking)
  • Sudden confusion (doesn’t know own name)
  • Suicide attempt
  • Severe difficulty breathing (unable to speak, choking, gasping)
  • Choking
  • Heavy bleeding (spraying, pouring, making a puddle)
  • Severe injuries (after a serious accident or assault)
  • Seizure
  • Sudden and rapid swelling (lips, mouth, throat, tongue)

For children, this includes:

  • Seizure
  • Choking
  • Difficulty breathing (grunting noises, stomach sucking under rib cage)
  • Unable to stay awake (can’t keep eyes open for more than a few seconds)
  • Blue, grey, pale or blotchy skin, tongue or lips
  • Limp and floppy (head falls to the side, backwards or forwards)
  • Heavy bleeding (spraying, pouring, making a puddle)
  • Severe injuries (after a serious accident or assault)
  • Signs of a stroke (face dropping on one side, unable to hold both arms up, difficulty speaking)
  • Sudden and rapid swelling (lips, mouth, throat, tongue)
  • Sudden confusion (agitation, odd behaviour, non-stop crying)

‘Flip-flopper’ Starmer warned not to loosen immigration rules in return for closer ties with EU to cut red tape

SIR Keir Starmer has been warned against Brexit backsliding as he meets EU leaders in Brussels today.

The PM wants closer ties with the bloc to reduce red tape — but faces demands to loosen some immigration rules in return.

Pledging a “reset” on Britain’s relationship with the EU, he will extend an olive branch to “put the Brexit years behind us”.

In exchange for removing certain barriers, Brussels wants him to sign up to a youth mobility scheme allowing EU under-30s to live and work in the UK for a limited time.

Sir Keir, who backed Remain, has ruled out any return to full freedom of movement, as well as rejoining the single market or customs union.

However, he is understood to be open to a softened version that does not compromise these red lines. But Brexiteer critics warn it could see a return to freedom of movement by the back door.

Tory leadership contender James Cleverly said: “Keir Starmer has flip-flopped on Brexit for years; he wanted a second referendum then he didn’t. He’s spent years trying to reverse it and his intentions are pretty clear. He will do anything to cosy up to Europe.”

The PM is due to meet EU chiefs Ursula von der Leyen, Charles Michel and Roberta Metsola in what has been described as “talks before the talks” where leaders will set out the outline of a deal.

But Brussels sources are sceptical of any agreement being reached. Illegal migration is also on the agenda but no serious talks of an EU returns deal are expected.

Sir Keir said Britain is “undeniably stronger when it works in lockstep with its closest international partners”.

He added that with the threat of war and conflict at Europe’s door, he is “determined to establish a more pragmatic and mature relationship with the European Union”.

The troubled couple later left the room to have a heart to heart and Eve did her best to console her wife.

Though she admitted to telling Polly she felt she had been bullied, she insisted she’d told Polly not to say anything tonight.

Just minutes later in a one on one chat with Polly, Eve was heard thanking her for her intervention and looked gleeful as they shared a hug.

She said: “I really appreciate you doing that and I can’t help but be so relieved, though I can’t help but feel the timing was wrong.”

She added: “Thank you, Polly. I really f***ing need you to stick up for me.”

Viewers were aghast at the duplicity.

One wrote on X: “Seriously, why is Eve THANKING Polly. I would be launching her to Mars.”

Another exclaimed: “Eve is so fake.”

A third said: “Omgggg Eve is soooo two faced … telling Polly thanks for telling her she’s a bully but timing was you’re showing ur true colours!!!”

A fourth vented: “Eve literally said ‘i told her not to speak’ to Charlie but has just told polly thanks for saying something? she’s sick.”

Later in the dinner party Polly and Charlie had another sit down chat, and the former apologised for her earlier accusations and not taking Charlie’s feelings into account.

While Charlie accepted the apology, she said she didn’t feel comfortable talking to Polly about her relationship.

The experts felt the tense exchange left a lot unresolved and were fearful of further drama.

The first honesty box of the series followed, with the couples answering personal questions in front of each other.

Caspar and Emma kicked things off by discussing their sex life.

Emma expressed that it was the biggest factor missing in their relationship so far and hoped they would get to a point of intimacy.

Later on, Charlie told Eve she was “serious” about the experiment and wanted her wife to grab the show by the horns and allow her to show that her intentions are genuine.

Rice and Calafiori put in strong performances as Arsenal ran out 2-0 winners in the Champions League tie.

Goals from Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka in the first half gave the Gunners a comfortable victory.

But it was an incident during the second half in North London which had social media abuzz.

Calafiori was in the process of being booked after a coming together with PSG’s Fabian Ruiz.

As referee Slavko Vincic produced the yellow card, Rice appeared and gave an item to his teammate.

Calafiori walked away from the referee, immediately putting the object into his mouth.

One fan wildly speculated on X: “Who just saw Declan Rice giving Calafiori a vape and Calafiori vaping in the middle of the game? WTH is that!”

Another claimed the same idea: “I thought Rice gave Calafiori a vape at first I had to rewind.”

And a third added: “What did Rice just pass to Calafiori? It looked like a vape ffs.”

While a fourth laughed: “Calafiori hitting a vape midgame is crazy, but whats crazier is how come Rice had it in his pocket like is he their vape holder?”

Despite what it looked like, other eagle-eyed fans noticed the supposed vape was infact an energy gel.

One fan laughed: “It’s clearly a gel, come on guys.”

And another added: “Who just chucked an energy gel at Calafiori while he was getting booked?

The gels are designed to give an instant boost energy boost and there are no rules against taking them during a game.

Arsenal sit eighth in the new-look Champions League table after Tuesday’s win.

It follows a disappointing 0-0 stalemate with Atalanta in Gameweek 1.

Havertz nodded home a brilliant cross from Leandro Trossard on 20 minutes to open the scoring.

Saka deservedly doubled that lead 15 minutes later, swinging over a free-kick that evaded everyone, including keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
