Gaza-born Palestinian dad is only fatality in Israel from Iran’s 181 missile blitz after rocket shrapnel fell from sky

A PALESTINIAN labourer was the sole victim of Iran’s thwarted 181 missile blitz of Israel, it was revealed today.

Father-of-three Sameh al-Asali, 37, was killed instantly by falling shrapnel from ballistic missiles fired from western Iran on Tuesday night.

And in another tragic twist, his grieving family revealed he was born in Jabalia in Gaza – the stronghold of Israel’s terrorist enemy Hamas.

No other deaths were reported early today – but at least four people were said to have suffered minor wounds inside Israel while others were hurt running for cover as debris fell.

Jericho governor Hussein Hamayel told AFP: “A Palestinian worker in Jericho was killed when pieces of a rocket fell from the sky and hit him.”

Al-Asali was struck in the West Bank village of Nu’eima near Jericho and four other Palestinians were reportedly injured by shrapnel from the same missile.

An image of his body circulating on social media showed a metres-long missile casing lying next to the victim’s sheet-covered body.

He was one of the thousands of Gazan labourers given Israeli work permits who were stranded in Israel on October 7 and sought refuge in the West Bank.

The IDF said that it intercepted “a large number” of the 181 ballistic missiles launched by Iran at Israel, thanks to the country’s air in cooperation with US and British air forces.

Jordan said that it also intercepted a number of missiles and drones over its airspace.

Iran claimed its missile attack had succeeded in striking 90 per cent of its targets amid scenes of jubilation on the streets of capital Tehran.

But western experts discounted the claims and analysts branded the blitz another embarrassing flop and a 320 missile and drone attack in April was also repelled.

Israel Defence Forces’ Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari branded the multiple strikes “a severe and dangerous escalation” and warned “There will be consequences.”

Hagari added: “There were a small number of hits in the centre of Israel, and other hits in Southern Israel.

“The majority of the incoming missiles were intercepted by Israel and a defensive coalition led by the United States.

It comes as…

“Our defensive and offensive capabilities are at the highest levels of readiness.

“Our operational plans are ready. We will respond wherever, whenever, and however we choose, in accordance with the directive of the government of Israel.

“Iran and its proxies have been attacking Israel since the 7th of October on 7 fronts. Iran and its proxies seek the destruction of Israel.

“The Israel Defense Forces will continue doing everything  necessary to defend the State of Israel and protect the people of Israel.”

After an initial damage assessment was completed, IDF Chief of the General Staff, LTG Herzi Halevi said: “We have proven our ability to prevent the enemy from achieving success, through the combination of exemplary civilian conduct and a very strong Aerial Defense Array.

“We will choose when to exact the price and demonstrate our precise and surprising offensive capabilities, in accordance with the directive of the political echelon.”

Israel was today planning a major response to the Iranian missile attack likely to hit Iranian oil plants and air defence system – and may also include targeted assassinations.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said last night that “Iran made a big mistake tonight and it will pay for it”.

US President Joe Biden confirmed that the US – which has moved a huge naval fleet into the region – working with Israel to fine-tune the response.

After a star-studded bash hosted by Katherine Ryan, nominees and winners were seen heading home after a wild afterparty thrown after a sitdown dinner.

Myleene Klass, who stole the show in a stunning sea blue 70s inspired gown, blew kisses to cameras as she hopped in a black cab to go home.

After a night in kitten heels, Myleene was helped into the cab by a pal, with her bouncy perm swept over her shoulders as she beamed.

Perrie Edwards, who wore a racy leather outfit for the evening with cut away side panels, came prepared for the drive home, grabbing a Stanley cup once in the car to stay hydrated.

Sophie Habboo had husband Jamie Laing looked more loved-up than ever as he planted a kiss on her cheek as they left the event.

Meanwhile Georgia Harrison, who wore a peach dress with a jagged skirt, threw a large black coat over her outfit as she braced the winter chill on the way back.

The star was seen smiling as she looked at her phone as was driven off in her car.

Devoted husband Jamie was seen clutching Sophie’s handbag so she could pose for cameras.

The iconic Pamela Anderson, who took home the UK Impact Award, looked demure in a black outfit.

Having embraced a fresh look and ditching make-up, the former Baywatch star was celebrated for her charitable advocacy, including raising awareness for animal welfare, AIDS and HIV awareness and unhealthy beauty standards.

During her speech at the ceremony, she said: “For most of my career, I found women were so competitive and cruel to each other.

“Standing here, I can tell you, it’s much better when we love and support each other.”

“These last few years have felt like a fresh slate,” she added. “I’m on my path – a new, glorious and imperfect one. But the lesson I’ve learned is I will not let what happened to me define me, it’s what I do that defines me.”

She went on to dedicate the award to “women everywhere, rising above their painful paths and finding the courage to be their best selves.”

Other honourees throughout the night included Bridgerton star Simone Ashley, who took home the Gamechanging Actor award; Chlöe Bailey, who received Musician of the Year; and Francesca Amewudah-Rivers, who won the Theatre Actor Award after her leading performance alongside Tom Holland in a West End adaptation of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.

Love Island’s Cally Jane Beech won Activist of The Year, after speaking out against horrendous AI ‘deepfakes’ after she was superimposed onto sexually explicit images without her consent.

“This experience has taught me that the damage from AI deepfakes goes far beyond embarrassment,” she told the audience.

“They can destroy careers, relationships, and futures. Women, especially young girls, are particularly vulnerable.”

“With the platform I’ve been given, I feel a deep responsibility to raise awareness and fight for change,” she added. “We cannot allow technology to violate our privacy and dignity. We need stronger laws and more accountability.”

He is also fronting popular series Clarkson’s Farm for Prime Video[/caption]

Taking to Instagram, Jeremy has now announced his latest project, much to fans’ excitement.

In a short video, he revealed his new book, titled Diddly Squat: Home to Roost.

“I’ve done a thing!”, Jeremy began, using a familiar catchphrase to begin his update.

He continued: “It’s a copy of my new book. I thought it would be a good idea to read you an excerpt from it.

“To give you a flavour of what you can expect.”

However, he teased followers by simply reading: “But what if you want some bread?”

Continuing, the presenter stated his book would be released on October 24 – but it is available to pre-order.

One fan commented: “The level of genius involved with this book.”

Another played along with Jeremy’s joke, writing: “Why did you read from the book? You spoiled it and now I know everything about it!”

A third chimed in: “Amazing work Jeremy. Proud of you.”

Previously, Jeremy opened up about the “real reason” behind The Grand Tour ending.

He penned in The Sunday Times: “After 36 years of talking about cars on television, I’m packing it in, because I’m too old and too fat to get into the cars I like and not interested in driving those I don’t.”

Meanwhile, the book’s title, of course, refers to Jeremy’s Diddly Squat Farm in the Cotswolds.

Three series of Clarkson’s Farm have aired to date, following his journey running said farm.

Jeremy left fans excited, meanwhile, after accidentally sharing an update on the show’s future.

Ahead of series four being released, the star alluded to a potential series five.

Alongside a snap of Andy holding up some canine treats, he joked: “The dogs pleading with Andy Wilman to be in season 5.”

One delighted viewer commented: “Season 5. Amazing !!!!!!! Bring on season 4!!!!”

I wanted revenge on my cheating husband so joined an affairs site & I’m now gutted I remained faithful for so long

A WOMAN has revealed why she regrets not having an affair on her husband.

Most people are fully against cheating on their partner – but she revealed she regrets staying faithful for 17 years.

Getty
The woman decided to get revenge on her cheating husband – and now she won’t stop[/caption]

The woman revealed that she was now 40 and couldn’t resist starting new relationships after being married for so long.

But she didn’t fall into having an affair by accident, she claimed she only sought it after wanting to get revenge on her husband.

She revealed her husband had no idea she was looking for other lovers but didn’t feel one bit bad about it.

The woman said: “Did anybody else join IE (IllicitEncounters) because their partner cheated on them first?

“Originally I was bitter and mad, and wanted to get some sort of secret revenge.”

But since participating in affairs herself – she claimed she understood why it was so much fun.

She continued: “But now I kind of get it, the whole affair thing.

“I almost feel cheated that I had stayed faithful for 17 years, oh well, they do say that life begins in your 40’s.”

The website IllicitEncounters reveals they help people in relationships find romance outside of it.

They write: “Our members have one thing in common – they are all looking for a little romance outside their current relationship.

“Whether that’s the occasional bit of flirtatious chat, a regular coffee date, or a full-blown affair, that’s up to them.”

People were quick to share their thoughts on the wife’s newfound freedom and lust for life.

One person wrote: “100% true. Sad really isn’t it.”

Another commented: “That’s chuffing marvellous my dear. Sounds a bit messy though.”

Four red flags your partner is cheating

Private Investigator Aaron Bond from BondRees revealed four warning signs your partner might be cheating.

They start to take their phone everywhere with them

In close relationships, it’s normal to know each other’s passwords and use each other’s phones, if their phone habits change then they may be hiding something.

Aaron says: “If your partner starts changing their passwords, starts taking their phone everywhere with them, even around the house or they become defensive when you ask to use their phone it could be a sign of them not being faithful.”

“You should also look at how they place their phone down when not in use. If they face the phone with the screen facing down, then they could be hiding something.”

They start telling you less about their day

When partners cheat they can start to avoid you, this could be down to them feeling guilty or because it makes it easier for them to lie to you.

“If you feel like your partner has suddenly begun to avoid you and they don’t want to do things with you any more or they stop telling you about their day then this is another red flag.”

“Partners often avoid their spouses or tell them less about their day because cheating can be tough, remembering all of your lies is impossible and it’s an easy way to get caught out,” says Aaron.

Their libido changes

Your partner’s libido can change for a range of reasons so it may not be a sure sign of cheating but it can be a red flag according to Aaron.

Aaron says: “Cheaters often have less sex at home because they are cheating, but on occasions, they may also have more sex at home, this is because they feel guilty and use this increase in sex to hide their cheating.  You may also find that your partner will start to introduce new things into your sex life that weren’t there before.”

They become negative towards you

Cheaters know that cheating is wrong and to them, it will feel good, this can cause tension and anxiety within themselves which they will need to justify.

“To get rid of the tension they feel inside they will try to convince themselves that you are the problem and they will become critical of you out of nowhere.  Maybe you haven’t walked the dog that day, put the dishes away or read a book to your children before bedtime.  A small problem like this can now feel like a big deal and if you experience this your partner could be cheating,” warns Aaron.

“But do you really want to be here? He’s cheated, so now you’re cheating. But do you really want to?” penned a third.

Meanwhile a fourth said: “Two wrongs don’t make a right…”

“If you have any sort of revenge feelings towards your partner it’s time to get divorce in my opinion,” claimed a fifth.

Someone else added: “Guys, girls, everyone cheats. or would if they could get away with it. otherwise why live really….?”

I’m a bill slashing expert – the tumble dryer is your most expensive appliance but a two-second trick helps massively

TUMBLE dryers can seem like a godsend when unpredictable weather conditions limit the use of clothing lines.

Chris Richards revealed he has a must-try trick for reducing the time it takes to dry clothes – and as a result, saving money on cycles.

Chris Richards shared his expert tip for reducing the cost of using a tumble dryer (stock image)[/caption]

Richards is the CEO of Utility Saving Expert, a UK-based price comparison service that helps to save on energy bills.

Many people rely on tumble dryers throughout winter to dry their clothes but at around £1.27 per cycle or £66.25 per year, it’s the most expensive appliance to run.

“Washing machines, dishwashers, and tumble dryers account for 14% of a typical energy bill,” Richards told National World

“However, there are simple ways to cut costs with these appliances.”

He recommended avoiding the use of tumble dryers when possible by drying clothes outside on sunny days.

When the option is unavailable, a simple towel trick can reduce the time a tumble dryer is needed.

He suggested putting a dry towel in the dryer alongside the washing to absorb excess water, this reduces the need for multiple cycles.

The cost of using dishwashers and washing machines can also be cut easily.

Only use them on eco-settings and with a full load.

According to Richards, washing clothes at 30 degrees and limiting the usage of washing machines can save around £22 a year.

A further £11 can be saved annually by choosing to use dishwashers just once a week.

The energy bill hacks come after the property experts at B&Q shared tips that will help to avoid a pricey heating bill.

They said radiators can take longer to heat the home and even make loud noises when it’s time for them to be bled.

The process which involves a radiator key or a flat-headed screwdriver is “quick and easy.”

Once the bleed valve on the top left or right of the radiator has been loosened, the heating device will more efficiently heat the home.

5 Money-saving tips for autumn/winter

1. Draught-proof your home

It takes time and money to heat up your home, so it’s important that you do as much as you can to keep in the warmth. Close your doors and windows, and fill any gaps with a draught excluder.

2. Dial down your thermostat

According to Energy UK, turning down your thermostat by just one degree Celsius could cut your heating bill by up to 10%, and save you around £85 per year. Plus, if you don’t have a thermostat, installing one could save up to £70 per year!

3. Move furniture around

Make sure not big, bulky furniture like sofas are blocking radiators.

4. Wash clothes on a lower temp and add an extra spin

Unless it’s bedding, towels or really dirty items, dial down the temperature to 20 or 30 degrees, and do a double spin to remove excess water.

5. Heat the person not the home

There’s not point heating up a room that no one is sitting in, so be mindful about which radiators are on.

However, the efforts to maximise heat from the radiators will be pointless if cold air can still creep in between the gaps in the floorboards.

The experts recommend adding a “cosy feel” to rooms with a rug.

Heavy curtains can also be beneficial for restricting cold air and draughts that enter around window panes.

Curtains should be open during the day to let warmth from the sun into the rooms and closed before it gets dark.
