Major supermarket issues urgent recall of soup that may contain shards of METAL

SOUP has been recalled from a UK supermarket over fears it contains shards of metal.

A batch of butternut squash soup has been declared “unsafe to eat” due to possible contamination, warned the food safety watchdog and supermarket.

Marks & Spencer urges anyone who bought its own brand soup to return it for a full refund.

The recall covers soups with a use-by date of 6.10.2024 and barcode 0041142.

“The product may contain pieces of metal making it unsafe to eat,” the Food Standard Agency (FSA) said.

Recall notices are on display in shops and online.

In M&S spokesperson said: “Please do not consume this product.

“Any customers in procession can return it to their nearest store where a full refund will be given.

“No other M&S products are affected

“We apologise to our customers for any inconvenience caused.”

For more information, you call M&S on 03330148555.

Swallowing sharp objects like metal and plastic can injure the teeth, mouth and oesophagus (food pipe), and be a choking risk.

What to do if you think you are affected

By Isabel Shaw, health reporter

Firstly, do not eat the product.

The recall means the soup could be dangerous and are therefore unsafe to eat.

Then, either chuck the food out safely or return it to your nearest store for a full refund.

This can be done with or without a receipt.

If you have already eaten the product, watch out for symptoms like pain, bleeding, or difficulty swallowing.

If you experience any of these, or if you’re concerned, it’s best to seek medical attention immediately.

If fragments make it further into the body, this can puncture the intestines and cause internal bleeding in severe cases.

Anyone who thinks they or a family member have swallowed something made of metal should always seek medical help.

If you or someone near you is choking, follow the guidance below.

The FSA issues alerts if there is a problem with food products which should not be sold.

This could be that it has been contaminated with something, such as mould or metal, or it carries an incorrect ‘use-by‘ date.

What to do if someone is choking

First aid steps for someone who is choking.

Mild choking

If the airway is only partly blocked, the person will usually be able to speak, cry, cough or breathe, and may be able to clear the blockage themselves.

In adults:

  • Encourage them to keep coughing
  • Ask them to try to spit out the object
  • Don’t put your fingers in their mouth
  • If coughing doesn’t work, start back blows

In children:

  • If you can see the object, try to remove it (but don’t poke blindly)
  • Encouraging coughing
  • Shout for help if coughing isn’t effective or the child is silent
  • Use back blows if the child is still conscious but not coughing

Severe choking

In adults:

Where choking is severe, the person won’t be able to speak, cry, cough or breathe.

Without help, they’ll eventually become unconscious, so you should carry out back blows.

In children:

Back blows can be carried out on children under one year.

If this doesn’t work, chest thrusts can be started on kids up to 12 months old, and abdominal thrusts for those over one year.

Call 999 if the blockage doesn’t come out after trying back blows and either chest or abdominal thrusts.

Keep trying this cycle until help arrives.

Even if the object has come out, get medical help. Part of the object might have been left behind, or the patient might have been hurt by the procedure.

Her latest song, You Go Your Way, drops on October 4[/caption]

The Little Mix star, who will lift the lid on her romance with footballer fiance Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in her new single, is set to drop her latest song, You Go Your Way, in just two days, on October 4.

And to get fans excited for the single launch, Perrie took to Instagram to share a series of stunning snaps.

Amongst a behind-the-scenes look at her new single, the mum-of-one also shared pictures of her son Axel and even her dog.

Not only this, but we also saw Perrie’s gorgeous sage blazer, which is perfect for Autumn.

The post was captioned ‘Okay okay OKAY… pass me the aux, I’m ready!’ and in the first picture, Perrie posed for a mirror selfie wearing a trendy blazer.

She styled the sage blazer with a cropped t-shirt and a pair of wide-leg blue denim jeans.

The blonde-haired beauty finished the look with a pair of black boots and effortlessly wore a Louis Vuitton bag over her shoulder.

Her hair was styled to perfection and she rocked the popular ‘power stance‘ pose.

The post, which has quickly gone viral and has since racked up 297,000 likes, has clearly left fashion fans impressed, as many flocked to the comments to praise the star.

One person said: “Stunning.”

Another added: “Beautiful.”

A third commented: “ABSOLUTELY IN LOVE.”

Little Mixers: Where Are They Now?

LITTLE Mix announced their hiatus in December 2021 whereby the group clarified that they were taking a break to focus on individual projects and personal endeavours. So, where are they now?

Perrie Edwards

Perrie has been focusing on her solo career post-Little Mix.

She recently released her debut solo single, Forget About Us, which has garnered significant attention.

She is also enjoying her time as a new mum and often shares adorable moments with her son on social media.

Leigh-Anne Pinnock

Leigh-Anne has ventured into acting, landing a role in a major film project, ‘Boxing Day’.

She’s also been active in promoting her documentary on racial issues within the music industry.

Additionally, Leigh-Anne is balancing her career with motherhood, having welcomed twins with her partner.

Jade Thirlwall

Jade has been exploring various creative avenues, including hosting a podcast and appearing on several television shows.

She remains a strong advocate for LGBTQ+ rights and continues to use her platform to support various charitable causes.

She signed a solo recording contract with RCA Records in 2022, and released her debut single, Angel of My Dreams, this year, which reached number seven on the UK Singles Chart.

Jesy Nelson

Jesy left Little Mix in 2020 to focus on her mental health and has since embarked on a solo music career.

She released her debut single, Boyz, which sparked much discussion and showcased her new musical direction.

Jesy is also working on her first solo album, JN1, which is set to be released this year.

Whilst Perrie didn’t share where the blazer was from, if you’re on a budget and are looking for a dupe that looks practically the same, fear not, we’ve found just the thing.

Thanks to ASOS, you can now get your hands on an almost identical version – the Topshop Tall co-ord straight jacket in sage.

The regular fit blazer was originally priced at £60, but has now been slashed down to £18, saving you a whopping 70%.

So if you fancy saving £42 and getting your hands on a blazer for less than £20, you’ll need to move fast.

It’s available from a size 4 to an 18, making it suitable for a variety of different body shapes, but sizes are selling out quickly.

Not only is the colour super on trend and perfect for adding a bit of brightness to your Autumn wardrobe, but it’s also got notch lapels and a single button fastening, making it super flattering too.

Other ways to save money at ASOS

HERE are some of the best ways you can save and get the best prices at ASOS and other outlet stores.

Save money with ASOS Flash Sales and promo codes

Flash Sales are mini-sales that last anywhere between a couple of hours to a few days – such as the ‘Sample Sale’.

When one occurs, an ASOS promo code will often be advertised that can be used on a particular product or range.

Flash Sales also happen around bank holidays and other ‘special’ days like Valentine’s Day, Halloween and April Fools’ Day.

Get an ASOS birthday discount code

When signing up to ASOS, or any retailer for that matter, make sure to put in all your personal details, including your birthday, for special rewards.

If a retailer knows your birthday, they’ll send you a code two weeks before for you to use on full-price items.

Sign up to the ASOS newsletter

Again, this doesn’t just apply for ASOS, but signing up to newsletters keeps you in the loop with all the latest deals and discounts as soon as they’re announced.

By signing up, you’re usually rewarded with a new customer promo code for money off your first purchase.

Buy from the multipack section

Multipack sections often go unnoticed but they’re a lifesaver for saving money on wardrobe essentials.

For example, a plain white ASOS DESIGN women’s t-shirt costs £8* when bought by itself, but a pack of two t-shirts comes in at £15* and a pack of three comes in at £22*.

Get cheaper delivery

While it’s understandable you wan’t your new product as soon as possible, try and pay for the least expensive delivery option – even if it means waiting an extra day or two for it to arrive.

ASOS offers free Standard Delivery (usually £4.50) on all purchases over £40, too.

Find deals in the sales

If you’re looking for ASOS discounts, make sure you check the outlet.

The ASOS Outlet is great for finding cheap out-of-season stock, just as you’d expect at a regular outlet shop. You can find items with huge discounts of up to 70%.

Champions League referee suspended after sickening ‘threat’ to KILL player during game

A CHAMPIONS LEAGUE referee has been suspended from officiating after allegedly threatening to kill a player during a game.

Italian referee Fabio Maresca has been removed from refereeing duties in the Serie A for a month and was also taken off of Tuesday’s Champions League clash between PSV and Sporting CP.

According to Corriere della Sera, an incident occurred during a brief conversation in English between Maresca and Al-Arabi star Khald Al Mershed on Friday.

Maresca had taken charge of the Kuwait Premier League fixture between Kuwait SC and Al-Arabi, which ended in a 2-0 win for the home side.

Conflicting accounts of the conversation have arisen in the report, with the player lodging a serious complaint against him.

It has been claimed Maresca said something along the lines of “see you next time”.

However, Al-Mershed accused the ref of saying: “See you next time, I’ll kill you.”

Maresca is reportedly unlikely to face further punishment in Kuwait following the incident because it was resolved with “on-field diplomacy”.

The 43-year-old started off officiating in Italy‘s professional league in 2011 and has been involved in European competition since 2018.

In May he sent off then-Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri in the Coppa Italia final after he furiously confronted the fourth official.

Maresca has taken charge of one Serie A match this season.

This was the 2-2 draw between AC Milan and Torino on the opening weekend.
