‘Maebe is glorified PLT’ Molly Mae fans rage after spotting PrettyLittleThing clothes made with ‘better’ materials

MOLLY-MAE Hague fans have branded her new fashion brand Maebe, a “glorified PrettyLittleThing”, after spotting clothes on the PLT website made with “better quality materials” than Molly’s brand.

The former Love Island star launched her fashion brand on Sunday, and the range sold out in just 24 minutes.

She revealed that a £39 PLT blazer is actually better quality[/caption]

However fans have been quick to slam the prices of the range, which includes a £140 blazer and a £35 t-shirt.

One fan, Natasha Makumborenga was left fuming after realising that some of PrettyLittleThing‘s clothes actually use “better quality materials.”

“Maebe is just a glorified PLT”, she raged in a video posted to TikTok.

Looking at the materials of the £140 Maebe blazer, Natasha revealed that it is made from 63% polyester, 19% viscose, and 18% acrylic.

However, a £39 PLT blazer is made from 85% polyester and 15% cotton.

“That is actually better quality material than Maebe”, she said.

She added that M&S sell a £135 blazer which is made with 100% cotton.

“That’s technically cheaper than Maebe, because you’re getting better value for money“, she said.

“I just cannot justify some of the prices on Maebe.

“The fabric is basically just polyester.”

Natasha added that Molly has marketed her fashion range as “investment pieces”, which doesn’t make sense given the quality of the materials.

Her video, posted under the username @tashyslife, has likely struck a chord with many Molly-Mae fans, as it has racked up over 1.1 million views on the video sharing platform.

TikTok users raced to the video’s comments section to share their thoughts.

One fans said: “I’ve only recently started paying attention to the fabric of clothing I’m looking at buying, this is really disappointing from Molly Mae.”

Fabulous' Deputy Fashion Editor on Maebe

Abby McHale, the Deputy Fashion Editor at Fabulous, has shared her candid thoughts on Maebe…

“LOVE Island isn’t synonymous with grown-up sophisticated style but it will be no surprise to fans of Molly-Mae Hague that this is the theme of her first fashion range.

The 25-year-old influencer and mum to one-year-old Bambi has done everything possible to shed the villa image – swapping bikinis and lip fillers for comfy clothes and barely there makeup.

Recently, she’s even ditched her Love Island fiance, and father of her child, Tommy Fury – amid allegations of infidelity. So it was inevitable that her exclusive clothing collection, maebe, would be as far removed from glamorous bodycon party dresses as possible.

From that perspective, it certainly does not disappoint.

The range, which dropped last night (Sunday) at 7pm on Molly’s new website maebe.co.uk, was tipped to sell out almost straight away. It features tailored oversized blazers, sharp shirts and denim – all in Molly’s signature neutral palette.

A passion project, as she calls it, which has been two years in the making, Molly said she wanted to bring some luxury to her fans, without the price tag. She said she poured her heart into creating “high-quality pieces” at an “accessible price point.”

Accessible? I’m not so sure – the range varies from £35 to £140 so is pricier than the mainstream high street. But it is a price it seems her followers are willing to pay, even if it is a stretch for their budget.

One fan commented on the maebe Instagram saying: ‘I can already feel my bank account emptying’, with another echoing the same thought, saying, ‘I’m going to have no money left.’

A seasoned influencer, Molly knows how to lure her followers in – even before the brand launched yesterday the maebe account on Instagram had over 800k followers.

And at a sold out pop up event in London last week she gave some lucky fans a sneak peek of the collection, hyping fans in the run up to the event with come-ons like “maebe it’s just not worth missing.” Afterwards, she wrote to her 8.3 million followers, saying:  “I don’t think I’ll ever get over today. Meeting so many of you and celebrating maebe Store has been one of the best days of my life! I can’t put into words how grateful I am for every single one of you who are on this journey with me.”

Molly, who is from Hitchin, Hertfordshire, knows that the key to her success is her fans – she has built up a loyal following and they are obsessed with her style so much that they want to be just like her.

So now she’s giving back to her ‘community’, allowing them to access clothes designed by her.
However, she’s also a shrewd businesswoman. Arguably the most successful contestant to come out of the villa to date, she’s already had six figure clothing deals and a successful beauty range.

She knows that for her fashion brand to be a true success she needs to attract a wider market.

That’s probably why she chose to partner with premium digital magazine Sheer Luxe to have the first exclusive look. This signals who she wants this brand to be associated with – the stylish woman in her mid twenties and upwards, who wants to splash the cash occasionally and prioritises style and comfort.

The vibe is less is more – a capsule collection of luxury items that you can mix and match – unlike when she was creative director of fast fashion brand Pretty Little Thing between 2021 and 2023.

Molly describes her brand as being “inspired by my own journey into womanhood and motherhood.”

That comes through in the pieces – they are timeless, sleek and wearable but with a luxe edge.

The campaign was shot in what looks to be a stately home – the whole vibe is giving wealth, but with clothes that are just about affordable to the masses.

And whilst the designs aren’t groundbreaking, they are smart and, for many, worth the investment.

Standout pieces in the collection include the oversized blazers and the seam front jeans – these are sure to be sellouts. However, other pieces, like the knits and basic tops for example, you can find similar in shops such as H&M and Zara.

In the campaign images featuring Molly herself she looks somewhat glum – and who can blame her after the shock split from Tommy Fury last month – but it’s clear that things are looking up for her.

This project will be a welcome distraction and she is once again in control of the narrative, with this brand marking the start of the next chapter of her life. Molly-Mae 2.0 has arrived.

Now in her mid twenties and a mother (she was 19 when entering the Love Island villa), she’s clearly a career driven young woman with big ambitions – and will slot in quite nicely with the fash pack.

She’s already been mingling with A-list models at Paris Fashion Week, having been invited to the L’Oreal show alongside Kendall Jenner and Cara Delevigne.

And we all know of another Hertfordshire girl who went from pop culture icon to front row royalty. Who’s to say Molly-Mae Hague can’t be the next Victoria Beckham? Anything is possible these days.”

A second added: “I have a small Etsy shop making my own clothing.

“My fabrics are better quality and much cheaper, how do they justify these ridiculous prices.”

A third added: “When I saw the collection and its prices I really had to laugh.”

A fourth chimed in: “Paying over £100 for plastic is not quality or luxury.”

The MAFS couple most likely to split first & pair ‘set up’ for cheating scandal – according to body language pro

MARRIED at First Sight has been packed to the brim with drama so far this series, with brides threatening to quit at the first hurdle, and one groom admitting he would cheat before even meeting his bride.

The Channel 4 show, which sees unlucky-in-love singles agree to marry someone hand-picked for them by experts without meeting them first, is always full of twists and turns, with body language expert Judi James suggesting that the “epically random” couplings should lead the show to be renamed “Divorce at Second Sight”.

Eve and Charlie’s relationship has been a turbulent roller-coaster since their honeymoon
Eroteme

In last night’s episode, more drama ensued for turbulent brides Eve and Charlie, who, despite seeming perfect for each other at their wedding, have been butting heads since the honeymoon.

Polly stepped in to accuse Charlie of being a “bully” despite having enough on her own plate, after husband Adam yet again refused to say that he fancied her.

With trouble in paradise for many brides and grooms it seems as though the first exit of the series could be in store at tonight’s commitment ceremony.

But who will be the first to go? And will any of the contestants break the rules and end up doing some wife-swapping?

Body language expert Judi James reveals all….

Eve and Charlie

Eve, 31, and Charlie, 30 have struggled to communicate throughout the series, with Charlie’s fiery personality causing Eve to retreat and refuse to move in with her wife.

Charlie became distraught in Experts Week when Eve, who has accused her bride of “being mean”, decided against taking part in a letter writing task.

Although the couple managed to patch things up for the dinner party last night, Polly’s bullying accusations led to more tears, meaning things aren’t looking good going into tonight’s commitment ceremony.

Eve’s praying hand gestures suggest she is emotionally exhausted, according to Judi[/caption]

Judi described lifeguard Eve and lettings operations coordinator Charlie’s marriage as a “non-relationship” and revealed that their differing communication styles make them the couple most likely to be the first to quit.

The body language pro explained: “Eve keeps using a praying hand gesture to suggest she’s emotionally exhausted.

“Charlie grabbed at her hand to hold it when they spoke of re-uniting before the dinner party, but Eve converted that holding ritual into a detached stroking, just using her fingertips, making it look as though she is avoiding any form of being tied down or being contained in a relationship and space that is clearly too overwhelming for her.

“When she told Charlie at the dinner party that ‘I do have hope we can get back on track’ her hand gesture signalled a contradictory message.

“Instead of leaning forward and touching as she spoke she sat back with her hands raised in front of her chin in a steepling gesture.

What to do if you don't find your partner attractive

Dear Deidre Agony Aunt Sally Land, reveals how you should navigate your concerns if you don't physically find your other half attractive.

Sally says: “Putting down your partner for their looks not only reflects your own insecurities but is also very damaging for your partner’s self-esteem and mental health.

“With the ready availability of so much free porn, many men in particular have developed completely unrealistic expectations of what their partners should look like.

“Just like fashion, different body shape ideals and looks come and go with the seasons.

“But unlike the latest skinny, flared or boyfriend jeans you can’t simply ditch your curves because they are ‘out of date’.

“Of course we can all get fitter and eat more healthily but our body shapes are more or less dictated by our genes.

“So criticising your partner’s shape because you prefer ‘skinny’ isn’t going to magically achieve that – unless of course they make themselves very ill.

“And anyone who genuinely cares for someone would only ever want the best for them.

“As a society we are conditioned to expect men to constantly want sex, whenever it is on offer.

“This assumption does a disservice to many men who genuinely want to get close and feel desired by their partner – not simply sex with any available woman.

“But the reality is that sexual rejection can feel magnified for female partners who believe men should always want sex and especially when it’s on offer.

“For anyone who holds onto these unattainable ideals, not only are you seriously limiting your chances of meeting someone compatible, but you are also disregarding so many other important considerations like do you have similar life goals, common interests, do you like each other.

“Marriage and long term relationships are hard enough when all those other boxes are ticked.

“By distracting yourself with a fantasy partner you really are setting yourself up for disaster.”

“This tends to signal status, strength and a barrier. It was a huge hint that she needs to get back to her life outside the experiment where she is in control of her emotions and feeling powerful again.”

Richelle

Richelle, 48 seemed completely taken aback when Orson, 41, said he “had the feels” for her on the honeymoon and abruptly bolted from the experiment.

Although she has now returned to the show, and patched things up with her groom, Judi said that it is hard to see why, and suggested that the property investor could be likely to cheat with a groom who seems more her type.

Richelle struggled with Orson telling her he had feelings so soon after they met[/caption]

She said: “Richelle is smart and successful and she seems to have a life outside the show, currently popping back to play the game despite being a rule-breaker at heart.

“That trait of rule-breaking could make her a candidate for cheating and alpha Alex could be more her ‘type’ than Orson, although we’ve not been shown any dynamic between them yet.

“She’s also astute and untrusting enough to doubt Orson when he said he had ‘the feels’ for her despite criticising her behaviour straight after their wedding.”

Judi suggested that Richelle could be more attracted to ‘alpha’ Alex[/caption]

Adam and Lacey

According to Judi, the producers have set up one duo to cheat so emphatically, that they might as well as stuck arrows with “affair” on their heads.

Adam, 33, is clearly not into his redhead bride Polly, 28 and keeps going on and on about how he is very “fussy” and usually goes for petite brunettes.

Petite brunette Lacey, 27, has struggled with husband Nathan, 25 being unable to have deep and meaningful conversations with her, and was left gutted after he wowed at her sister but not her at the altar.

Judi said: “When Lacey walked into the first dinner party and Adam said ‘wow’ and Polly followed up by getting insecure about Lacey the plot seemed to be set up for a cheating scandal.”

Could Lacey be the petite brunette Adam has been searching for?[/caption]

However, she added: “Except Adam seems keen to stay in the show and raise his personal profile and any cheating could ruin that.

“Plus, Polly suddenly morphed into some dominant Queen Bee last night, telling the others to ‘shut up’ and placing a dominant arm round Adam’s shoulders while pressing her face into his to register dominance.

“He’ll need to be a brave man if he does think about any cheating.”

Caspar

Caspar, 34, left his wife Emma, 31, distraught after revealing he doesn’t fancy her as he doesn’t like “curvy girls”.

The couple seem to be attempting to patch things up, but Judi said that his “fake” smiles leave him at risk or cheating or bolting.

a man and a woman are sitting next to each other
Caspar’s comments on Emma’s weight have caused friction in their relationship
Eroteme

She explained: “Caspar’s fake rictus smiles after the session with the experts suggested he was determined to look as though he’s trying hard to forge a proper relationship but the mask slipped to the ground when Emma said their lack of sex was a problem.

“He really did look like a guy who thought he could coast through the show in the friendship zone with Emma.

“But at the dinner table his smile did an instant belly-flop at the mention of sex and the old, moody-looking, zoned-out body language returned, with his void-of-all- expression eyes cast downward and that signature self-comfort rubbing of the lower lip with one finger followed by an anxiety ritual of rubbing his hair and scratching his head.

“Caspar was literally clawing at his wedding ring a couple of shows ago to hint he wanted out, but we did also get a glimpse of a more flirty, animated Caspar at the first dinner party.

“Chatting to Sacha who was preening and flicking her hair, he placed an arm round the back of the sofa, splayed his legs and sat with his beer bottle pointing upward on his lap in a gesture of male confidence.

“He fiddled with his wedding ring and the pair echoed a tongue-poke gesture, hinting there’s more to Caspar than we’re seeing with Emma right now.”

However, Judi warned that none of the couples are safe.

“Literally any couple could be vulnerable right now, judging from some of the subtle and not-so-subtle body language hints and cues”, she said.

“Even the ones that are displaying strong bonds of affection and attraction.”

PHIL TAYLOR has opened up on the intense pain he’s battled over the past year.

The 14-time world darts champion underwent hip replacement surgery in June.

The 14-time world champion has opened up on his intense pain following the hip replacement[/caption]

Taylor has since pulled out of the upcoming World Seniors Matchplay in York on medical grounds.

The Power, who won over 200 titles during a glittering three-decade career, retired from professional competition in 2018.

He has since returned on the Seniors tour, but has been plagued by hip issues in recent years.

Taylor admitted: “It’s the worst pain I’ve ever had, the last 12 months.

“Honestly, it’s been a nightmare. I’ll be glad when this year has gone.

“Playing-wise, I’ve been OK, but when you’ve been practising for a couple of hours, then you play the game, you get a really bad ache in your hip.

“It’s like having toothache, it drives you crackers. Anybody who’s had it done will know what I’m on about.”

Despite not playing in York this month, Taylor will be in attendance at the event to meet fans and work as a pundit for TNT.

He added: “I’m really pleased to still be coming to York.

“I’m looking forward to working with the team at TNT Sports and WSDT over the weekend and meeting the fans.

“The WSDT work tirelessly to put these events on and I’m more than happy to help in any way I can.”

The Power is preparing to leave the Oche behind for good, with his final appearance slated for November in Sunderland.

Taylor has been unable to rekindle the magic of his peak years on the Seniors tour.

Phil Taylor's glittering career

Phil Taylor quit his day job in the ceramic industry to become a full-time darts player in 1987 and went on to establish himself as a legend of the sport.

He dominated darts for over two decades, winning 214 professional tournaments – including 85 major titles and a record 16 World Championships.

The Power won his first World Championship in 1990, three years after becoming a professional player, and clinched his second two years later.

He then won eight consecutive world titles from 1995 to 2002.

Among his incredible list of accolades are 16 World Matchplay titles, 11 World Grand Prix titles, five UK Open titles, four European Championship titles and six Grand Slam titles.

Taylor also won six Premier League titles, four Championship League titles, five Desert Classic titles. two US Open titles, a UK Masters title and a World Masters title.

His incredible achievements saw him nominated for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award in 2006 and 2010, finishing as runner-up in the latter year.

Taylor won his last World Championship in 2013.

And the Stoke native has been left frustrated that his body is letting him down.

Taylor continued: “It’s horrible, it’s like you’re trying to lift the roof off the house, it’s heartbreaking.

“That’s the worst part, when you’ve got people saying ‘Come on, Phil, you’re better than this’.

a calendar for the darts 2024 shows the tournaments and locations

“I know I’m better than this but you can’t turn right [due to hip issues].

“It’s hard to get your foot in the right position and turn the body like I used to.

“It feels like someone sticking a knife into you, it’s a weird feeling.”
