Party-loving Royston Drenthe was WARNED OFF joining Everton by Holland pal thanks to Liverpool’s ‘temptations’

PARTY-LOVING Royston Drenthe was reportedly warned off joining Everton due to the “temptations” on Merseyside by a Dutch pal.

Drenthe, 37, was once one of world football’s top youngsters after impressing at Feyenoord.

Drenthe had gained a party boy reputation by that stage of his career

It earned him a move to Real Madrid in 2007, who at that time boasted a squad featuring Galacticos including Ruud van Nistelrooy, Arjen Robben and Raul.

But after winning LaLiga in his first season, Drenthe struggled with injuries and inconsistent form.

After three years he was shipped out to Hercules on loan.

And in 2011 Drenthe, who had gained a reputation as a party boy at Real, then completed a short-term move to Everton.

He went on to score four goals in 27 games for the Toffees before joining Russian side Alania on a permanent deal.

But ahead of his Goodison Park move, Drenthe was told to reject Everton’s advances by a Dutch pal who also played for the Merseyside club.

Andy van der Meyde, 45, was at Everton for four season between 2005 and 2009.

He only ended up making 24 appearances in total due to injuries and off-field issues.

And after hearing Drenthe was on the verge of following in his footsteps, Van der Meyde rang his friend before delivering a passionate voicemail message urging him to snub the switch.

Dutch outlet HP De Tijd claims Van der Meyde said: “Royston, I hear that you are on your way to Everton.

“Don’t do it, boy, I beg you, don’t do it.

“Liverpool has too many temptations for guys like us. Before you know it you will dragged into the nightclubs.

“There Bacardi flows and you can ski on cocaine; and the women, Royston. Oh man, oh man, oh man.

“Those British women with their short skirts…”

Drenthe clearly ignored his mate’s warning but Everton were not keen on making his loan permanent.

After a short spell in Russia, Drenthe returned to English football with Reading and Sheffield Wednesday.

He later had spells in Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.

And Drenthe retired in 2022 after playing for Real Murcia.

Married At First Sight star Adam’s ‘stunning brunette’ revealed as she admits ditching him after meeting on dating app

MARRIED At First Sight star Adam’s ‘stunning brunette’ has been revealed – but she ditched him after they met on a dating app.

Adam has made no secret of the fact that he has a type on the dating show, with his bride Polly barely getting a look in due to his preference of “petite brunettes with dark features.”

Despite having sex on their wedding night, Adam has made it clear that Polly is not his ‘type.’

They have been trying to improve their relationship and to become more intimate, however it seems the doomed couple aren’t getting anywhere.

But Adam did try to get somewhere with a girl named Amy Fox – a stunning brunette who Adam attempted to pursue on a dating app.

Amy told us: “We never dated but there were a few messages here and there, but he really wasn’t my type.

“I kept avoiding the subject of a date as I didn’t want to hurt his feelings. In the end, I just left him on read and replied to something else.”

Amy also hinted that it was in fact Adam’s teeth that had put her off.

Commenting on a TikTok video about Adam, Amy wrote: “When he asked me out a couple of years ago I had to say no because of the teeth.”

Adam then replied and said: “I’m sorry but that’s the biggest lie ever,” to which Amy replied: “Are you OK?”

Adam has since deleted his responses to Amy on the feed of the TikTok video.

But one of her friends backed her writing: “Amy is my childhood friend, I nearly spat my tea everywhere,” to which Adam’s former love interest Amy replied: “Can’t even say I commented for clout because I have more followers than him and not been on TV.”

And things go from bad to worse for Polly and Adam on an episode this week.

While chatting with the experts, Adam tells them: “When I look into Polly’s eyes, I don’t think ‘I really want to kiss you!'”

The rest of the couples gasp in shock at his comment, with one saying: “Oh my god!”

Meanwhile, Polly has been accused of trying to sabotage another couple during last night’s dinner party.

The careers advisor took Charlie Curtis to one side and told her she was being a “bully” towards her wife Eve Reid.

One furious MAFS UK fan wrote on Reddit: “Just because Polly is in a garbage relationship she wants to destroy someone else’s!”

Another echoed: “The way she spoke to Charlie (on tv no less) without even asking about the situation from her viewpoint, is really s****y. Nevermind SOOOO much projection.”

A third chimed: “She hasn’t got a relationship so needs to stir it for other ppl.”

Polly also demanded for her co-stars to shut up as she stormed out of the room during the dinner party.

She asked him: “Adam, what do you think you should do to prevent us from being stuck in the friendzone?”

“And if I take it to that next step and then in a couple of weeks’ time say I’m not feeling it still, that would upset you and hurt you.”

Polly responded: “But I feel like you’ve dodged that question because that’s what you say to that every time you’re asked it.”

Adam said: “But that is the truth. That’s not really dodging the question.”

It ended in Polly storming out.

I was rushed to A&E delirious after ‘botched’ BBL casued blood pools inside my body – I was hours from death

A WOMAN almost died after a Brazilian bum lift went horribly wrong and left her with blood poisoning.

Writhing in agony, the unnamed woman was rushed through the A&E queues for emergency treatment.

She was able to correct the BBL with a procedure called a DBL (Ducu Butt Lift)[/caption]

“The doctor told me if I hadn’t gotten to the hospital when I had I would be dead,” she explained.

It comes just days after the UK recorded its first victim of the risky procedure, more commonly referred to a BBL.

Alice Webb, 33, was having the cosmetic treatment at a studio in Gloucester on Monday evening when it “went wrong” and she died in hospital the following day.

There are plenty more who have undergone the procedure in Britain with disastrous consequences.

Reported complications included infection, sepsis, abscess, necrosis, cellulitis, migration and nodules.

In this case, the woman had suffered a major haematoma, which is when blood pools inside the body.

Just six days earlier the patient had filler injected into her buttocks.

The BBL practitioner had allegedly injected one of the patient’s veins, causing a bleed that resulted in sepsis.

“When I arrived at the hospital, I was seriously unwell, delirious and unable to stand or walk,” she explained

“Surgeons arrived and confirmed I had sepsis and that I’d be going straight down for an emergency if not life-saving, surgery.

“I was taken down to the theatre not knowing what was going on and I woke up three hours later.

“I spent two weeks in hospital, bed-bound and on a lot of medication with a lot of care.

“After two weeks I was allowed home but had daily checks from the district nurses.

“It was like this for the next five months.”

The woman said she was “unable to live a normal life” for the next five months, unable to bathe or do any of her regular activities.

“At this point, I would say I was at my lowest mentally – I was embarrassed.”

What are Brazilian Bum Lifts and why are they so popular?

Buttock enlargement surgery - known as a Brazilian bum-lift (BBL) - is used to make the bum look bigger, rounded and lifted.

Surgeons transfer fat, inject filler or insert silicone-filled implants.

It is the fastest growing cosmetic procedure but also one of the most dangerous, according to the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS).

Many patients are travelling to the likes of Turkey or seeking out unregistered surgeons in the UK and are not given full information on the risks.

BBLs carry the highest risk of all cosmetic surgeries – with more than one death occurring per 4,000 procedures.

Due to celebrities undergoing such ops, many women are hoping to emulate their looks.

Consultant clinical psychologist Dr Anu Sayal-Bennett, a chartered member of the British Psychological Society, told the BBC: “Despite there being so much about body positivity, there are pressures for women – and men too – to look a certain way.”

Many people travel abroad for the procedure because it is cheaper and advertising is “terribly seductive”, combined with the idea of a beach holiday, added Dr Sayal-Bennett.

DISFIGURED

The filler had also seeped into the woman’s leg, which led to another infection and an additional ten days in hospital.

The surgeons were forced to remove all of the filler, which left the patient’s bum disfigured and saggy.

In the images provided, her buttocks appear visibly uneven and her skin is sagging.

Once out of the hospital and desperate to get her body back to normality, she looked for options to get her bum back to its previous shape.

She booked a consultation with Dr Ducu, a highly regarded aesthetics practitioner who has his clinic in London.

She said: “I was unbelievably scared but as soon as Dr Ducu and I had a consultation, I felt so much better.

“He reassured me and explained everything in great detail.

“We came up with a plan and he executed each appointment with extreme caution and safety.”

Dr Ducu was able to fix the botched job as part of a ‘DBL’ (Ducu Butt Lift), which cost the woman £2,500.

'More must be done to stop rogue injectors'

By Lizzie Parry, Head of Health

IT might sound less invasive, but just because liquid BBLs are ‘non-surgical’ they are no less dangerous.

Any medical procedure comes with risks.

But when those procedures are carried out by any Tom, Dick or Harry with no medical qualification at all, the risks skyrocket.

Campaign-group Save Face has warned of an “alarming increase” in the number of patients complaining of severe complications from liquid BBLs and boob jobs.

The list of nasty complications is long, sepsis, infections and abscesses that require hospital admission and often surgical interventions.

These procedures, often advertised on social media as being ‘risk-free and cheaper alternatives’ to surgery can be lethal.

In every single case of complications reported to Save Face, the ‘practitioner’ had absolutely no healthcare qualifications, not one. It’s terrifying.

These unscrupulous rogue traders, who charge on average around £2,000, are putting people’s lives at risk, while raking in the profits.

Equally as alarming is the fact that most qualified medics say they don’t offer non-surgical BBLs because they are unsafe and come with high risk of complications.

If doctors and nurses aren’t comfortable doing liquid BBLs, it should be reason enough to outlaw them.

Save Face is calling on the Government to crackdown and ban these procedures, warning more people will die if action is not taken.

It’s a crisis waiting to happen, and more must be done to ensure people seeking aesthetic treatments are safe and have access to the best possible care

The DBL uses filler injections to reshape the buttocks and requires minimal downtime.

‘SHE COULD HAVE DIED’

Dr Ducu said: “She sadly had a bad experience after having hyaluronic acid injected in a non-sterile way.

“Whoever injected her didn’t know how to manage the complications and so she ended up septic in the hospital, and she could have died.

“What I have tried to do for her is fix everything without doing surgery.

“In the right hands, using hyaluronic acid for the buttocks area can be very safe and can give amazing results.

“Also, using an ultrasound minimises the risk as close to zero as possible.

“This procedure should be done by doctors who are very well trained and who have surgical experience.

“They should also know how to use the right amount of local anaesthetic, and be able to assess their patients.”

The patient is thrilled with her results, but she still requires additional surgery to remove the excess skin that has been left under her buttock area.

She said: “I’m extremely happy with how he’s fixed me.”

Free way you can avoid £80 DVLA driving fine – and it takes just 5 minutes to sort

SOMETIMES it’s tough to keep on top of all your outgoings, especially annual ones.

To make life easier the DVLA has a free reminder service that will stop you from landing a fine.

It takes just five minutes for motorists to sign up to a Driver and Vehicles account that will let you know when it’s time to pay your road tax.

Users who pay tax every six to 12 months will get sent vehicle tax reminders by email and text.

If you forget to pay your road tax, you could be issued an £80 fine.

On the service, you can also check your driving record and be told which vehicles you can drive.

You can also check your penalty points or disqualifications.

Other options include renewing photocard driving licence as well as creating a licence ‘check code’ which allows you to share your driving record with someone.

To be eligible to use the service, you must have one of the following:

  • A driving licence issued in England, Scotland or Wales
  • A vehicle log book (V5C) in your name.

According to the government website, you can’t set up vehicle tax reminders if you pay by direct debit.

This comes after the DVLA has rolled out new road tax changes for 2025.

Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) rates are shifting for nearly all petrol and diesel vehicle owners.

The DVLA is set to slap millions of motorists with tax increases worth hundreds.

The fee hike comes in line with overall vehicle emissions, meaning those emitting more pollution will face higher charges.

There are three systems of road tax – depending on when your vehicle was registered.

Drivers for models registered between 2001 and 2017 will bear the burnt based on their emitting models – with fees jumping by £40 compared to last year.

Cars registered after April 2017 will face a £10 increase from £190 in their first-year payments at the lowest emissions range.

Cops have extended their search and underwater specialists are now scouring a river – while drones have also been deployed.

Victoria’s last route is thought to have seen her head to a library on Commercial Street, from her home in Malton, where she was last seen around 9am on September 30.

A Facebook group has been set up as part of the search effort for the 34-year-old, with members putting up missing person posters.

One person said: “She left her home at 9am Monday morning.

“Someone saw her around that time walking up Commercial Street towards the library but no sightings since then as far as I’m aware.”

Another friend wrote: “Surely someone can ping her phone to see where her last location was?”

Others responded that they had tried to message her.

One said: “I randomly messaged her… it’s not delivered, just says sent.”

Another said Victoria’s phone now just goes straight to voicemail.

It comes after her sister pleaded: “My beautiful sister, please come home, Vicki.”

She also wrote: “If anyone has seen or heard from Vixx please get in touch as we are all worried sick.”

Victoria is described as white and approximately 5ft 6 in height.

She was last seen wearing blue jeans, a black Adidas original puffa jacket with white stripes down the sleeves and a grey Jack Wills hooded jumper.

North Yorkshire Police said members of the public should expect to see an increased police presence in Malton.

“Today, searches of the riverbanks will take place by our specialist underwater search team,” they added.

Inspector Leanne Anderson said: “There are a range of enquiries taking place to try and locate Victoria.

“This is still a missing person enquiry, and the focus of our activity is within the Malton / Norton area.

“Extensive searches will take place today and I would urge members of the public in the Malton / Norton areas to remain vigilant and report sightings or pass information to police immediately on 101 or 999.”
