Major beer brand placed into administration & staff ‘made redundant’ in move to ‘protect firm from market pressures’

A MAJOR beer brand has been placed in to administration after the company applied for a company voluntary arrangement in March.

It comes after the Fourpure brewing company closed its production site and taproom in Bermondsey.

In Good Company, the business that owns Fourpure and Magic Rock, said the move would “protect the brand from future liability, and tough commercial realities in the drinks and hospitality industries.”

Fourpure had previously applied for a CVA in March to secure more time to pay its creditors.

The company said: “Fourpure would continue to exist in the same way it does currently with its beers brewed, canned and produced at Magic Rock Brewing.”

In Good Company claimed that the administration would not “impact staff” or any of the In Good Company’s Beverage Limited’s wider portfolio.

However, a number of Fourpour staff have allegedly been made redundant following the closure of the Bermondsey site, according to The Grocer.

In Good Company CEO Steve Cox said: “We’ve had to make a number of tough decisions to protect the overall business, which includes moving Fourpure’s London brewing operations to its sister brewer Magic Rock in Huddersfield, and this month voluntarily filing for administration for Fourpure Limited.

“Both decisions have been made to futureproof the brands and the wider business, as we look to maintain stability but also strive for ambitious growth targets.

“Anyone in the craft beer, drinks and hospitality sectors will be familiar with the current challenges of operating in this space.

“We are determined to keep taking positive strides to safeguard In Good Company and its portfolio to allow for growth and innovation.”

The company has not filed a full-year set of accounts since it was acquired by In Good Company from Lion in August 2022.

The Sun has contacted Fourpure for comment.

The news comes after more than 2,000 Costa Coffee branches have abruptly shut, leaving customers “absolutely gutted”.

The Costa Coffee branch in Fleet Walk, Burnley, has pulled down the shutters for the final time.

The branch has actually been closed since the start of the month with customers left confused as to why it was empty.

But the company has now confirmed the closure is permanent, and it is set to be replaced by another shop.

A Costa Coffee spokesperson said: “We can confirm that our Costa Coffee store on Fleet Walk, Burnley, which is owned and operated by one of our corporate partners, closed for trade at the beginning of September 2024.”

Many shoppers were left disappointed after the branch shut down.

Commenting on news of the closure one said: “Absolutely gutted on Saturday when I couldn’t get my Costa!”

Another wrote: “Town centre is dying of a slow death.”

A third quipped that the situation was a “Costa living crisis”.

Costa closed its branch in Alexandra retail park, Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent, on Sunday 1 September.

The franchised site had been open for nine years, and customers have said it was a “great place”.

Coffee giant Costa regularly reviews its store estate across the UK.

This can include the closing or renovation of existing stores, or the opening of new stores.

Below we reveal the full list of Costa Coffee sites which have already shut and those which are due to close this year.

Kyle Walker sweating on England place but one-cap star hoping for long-awaited recall for Greece and Finland clashes

DOMINIC SOLANKE is hoping for a long-awaited England recall on Thursday.

Interim manager Lee Carsley names his squad at 2pm on Thursday afternoon for the forthcoming Uefa Nations League games against Greece and Finland.

And Solanke hopes his recent form for Spurs will be enough to get him into the England squad for only the second time.

Tottenham’s £65million summer buy from Bournemouth has played just once for the Three Lions and that was for 15 minutes as a substitute in a goalless draw with Brazil in 2017.

Yet in-form Solanke, 27, has scored three times in as many games for Spurs – including the third goals in Sunday’s 3-0 win at Manchester United – looks set to link up with fellow strikers Harry Kane and Ollie Watkins when the players meet up at St George’s Park on Monday.

Now playing in Saudi Arabia, Ivan Toney looks unlikely to feature in the squad.

England face Greece at Wembley next Thursday then play Finland in Helsinki three days later.

Manchester City’s Kyle Walker, left out by Carsley when naming his first England squad, will once again be sweating on his place.

For the wins over both Ireland and Finland, Carsley was without the injured trio of Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden and Cole Palmer but they will all be back.

England are desperately hoping to finish top of their group in League B.

If they ended up second, the Three Lions would have to play a promotion play-off with a League A side in March.

Instead, England should be involved in World Cup qualifiers.

If England win all six of their Nations League games – the final two are next month – Carsley looks likely to be offered the job full-time.

This means he would be at the World Cup draw in Zurich which is on December 13.

But once he got a little too kinky in the bedroom for a former partner, who rejected his Marmite move.

He said: “The most embarrassing thing I’ve done in the bedroom is I’ve offered an unsolicited and unwanted butt plug, which quickly made its way back into the box.”

Some Mafs fans responded to this with vomiting and wide-eyed emojis.

He also revealed that he does “nightclub jobs in the evening” which may not sit well with his wife to be.

Mafs fans on Instagram interpreted that as he’s a part-time stripper.

Luke has a sensitive side too and admitted he might be shy on his special day.

He said: “On my wedding day I’ll be most nervous about meeting her family.”

The smooth groom described his perfect date as “huddled at my place in front of a fire pit doing marshmallows and then other stuff.”

But there was a major red flag for some when he said: “The worst thing I’ve done in a relationship is cheat on my partner.”

He defines his best qualities as being “kind” and a “good listener”.

Interestingly, he said he wants his wife to be like a lasagne – “warm with many layers”.

He continued: “I would make the perfect husband because I’m funny, I like to get jiggy with it, and I can have deep conversations.”

Married at First Sight's best moments

Married at First sight has brought eight explosive series of drama to the small screen. These are some of the best moments

  • When series 8 couple Rozz Darlington and Thomas Kriaras brought secretly brought a sex toy to the couple’s dinner party. Unbeknownst to their fellow cast members who they were having dinner with, Rozz wore a vibrating egg gadget whilst husband Thomas had the controls.
  • Nikita’s exit in series 6. Nikita was removed from the show early on due to her behaviour, which led to her husband Ant re-entering the experiment with Alexis.
  • A slightly more heart warming highlight from series 6 was watching Dan and Matt’s relationship unfold. Dan and Matt were the first same-sex couple on the show, and their relationship was both ground-breaking and adorable.
  • Emma and James’ wedding in series 1. They were the first couple to ever get married on the UK version of the show. Emma and James, had a beautiful ceremony that set the tone for the series.
  • The dinner party showdowns are always a MAFs highlight with explosive arguments and unexpected alliances forming.

Charlotte is said to have forced her ‘cheating’ fella to reveal all about his text scandal[/caption]

Charlotte, 31, admitted the betrayal left her feeling “blindsided and humiliated“.

While her loved ones were “begging her to ditch” the sports star after the scandal, Charlotte has stood by her man.

It has now been revealed that Matt will join Charlotte on her Naughty Corner podcast next week, as he lifts the lid on what really happened.

A source told The Sun: “Everyone wants to know what happened and his side of the story, so Charlotte thought it was the best way to do it.

“She didn’t really give him much choice in the matter and it’s fair to say he’s not really looking forward to it.

“But at this point he will do what he can do get back in her good books and win back some trust.”

The tell-all episode, which is being recorded next week, will hopefully clear up any unanswered questions and put it to bed.

In a message on her Instagram page she clapped back at any criticism after fans asked why Matthew was missing from her gender reveal.

She wrote: “I did ask Matthew to be in the video in some sort of way as it’s his daughter but he didn’t want too.

“Before I get people jumping down my throat saying where is he, and it’s his child too.”

She then showcased a gender reveal with Noah, three, and Jude, one, and added: “I can’t actually believe we are having a BABY GIRL… I’m still in utter shock!!!

“I’ve always wanted my girl as we all know, and I never thought I would. So I’m absolutely over the moon & feel extremely blessed to have some PINK in my chuffin lifey, my little prinny I can’t wait to play dress up & Barbie’s already…

“My mum has saved all my little dresses from when I was a baby, I can’t wait to dress her in them. So special.

“Noah is soooo excited to be an even bigger brother to a little sister and I already know how much he will look after her he looks after Jude so much and I can’t believe Jude won’t be my baby soon…

“They all always will be but he’s going to be a big brother it’s crazy love my boys so much, my hormones are all over the show.”

The Sun previously told how Charlotte had allowed Matt to return to their home after their romance hiccup in a bid to move forward as a family.

But she hinted nothing was set in stone about their future as she revealed they were “taking each day as it comes” as well as having a clear focus on their “two beautiful boys”

And it is her eldest son Noah who is playing a leading role in selecting a baby name for his little sister.

Charlotte told on her podcast: “He loves the name Gigi!”

She went on: “So we’ve got a few names, we love the name Penelope, Gigi, Isabella, those type of names.

“But he (Noah) loves Gigi, he doesn’t like any other name.”

Bukayo Saka shares hilarious picture with Arsenal Invincibles icon who ‘almost lost legend status’ for shock statement

BUKAYO SAKA shared a hilarious picture with an Arsenal Invincibles icon who “almost lost his legend status” after a shock statement.

Saka is already one of the Gunners’ star players at the age of 23.

The winger has already clocked up 235 games, scoring 60 goals in the process after netting in last night’s win over Paris Saint-Germain.

And he’s just eight appearances away from a half-century of England caps too.

However, Saka and his fans were left shocked after a huge call from an Arsenal hero.

The winger was put up against Manchester City and Belgian rival Jeremy Doku to decide who the better player was.

The awkward question was put to none other than Invincibles star Robert Pires.

He won two titles and two FA Cups in 284 games for the Gunners.

Yet Pires astounded the Emirates faithful by declaring Doku to be better than Saka.

Speaking last month he said: “Bukayo still lacks a certain level of consistency and experience, especially in the big games.

“Perhaps this season, especially in the Champions League, he will show a more convincing face than season when it counts.

“For example, in my opinion, Doku from Manchester City is a bit better because he is technically stronger, has better dribbling skills and is more imaginative.”

Pires’ comments caused a backlash from Arsenal fans, forcing him into a grovelling U-turn last month.

The Frenchman said: “I want to clarify that I think Bukayo Saka is an amazing player and I have huge respect for him.

“A while ago I was asked to compare him to another player. I said the other player had better skills in some areas.

“This does not mean the other player is better. I genuinely think Saka is better and a fantastic No7.”

Arsenal ratings vs PSG as Havertz makes striker spot his own... but Calafiori shows chinks in his armour

KAI HAVERTZ and Bukayo Saka sent Arsenal to a deserved victory borne of first-half dominance.

Paris Saint-Germain did hit the bar and the post as they improved after the break in this Champions League tie.

But Emirates chief Mikel Arteta will mostly be delighted with his side’s latest solid display in Europe’s top club competition.

Here’s how SunSport’s Jordan Davies rated the Gunners at the Emirates on Tuesday.

DAVID RAYA – 7

Was perhaps busier than he usually is at home.

Helplessly watched a Nuno Mendes effort smack his far post and stood firm to deny Achraf Hakimi at his near post.

RICCARDO CALAFIORI – 6

A frantic display, one that had more shaky moments than good. Kept busy by Hakimi and was done for pace on a few occasions but recovered well.

A mistake early in the second half almost gave PSG a way back into the game. Needs to iron out these errors from his game, particularly when he is so dangerous in attack.

However, he was playing at right-back for the first time in his career after the break.

WILLIAM SALIBA – 7

Did not have much to do. A stray pass early on could have been costly but other than that another reliable and strong performance.

GABRIEL – 7

Sprayed some nice passes about from deep but this was a stress-free night’s work compared to the Premier League.

JURRIEN TIMBER – 8

Just how on earth does Ben White get back in this side at right back? Another immaculate display from a man who seemingly has it all in defence and attack.

Well, White may well get his chance after Timber was subbed off at half-time.

DECLAN RICE – 7

Solid as a rock and building a real partnership with Partey in midfield. Had a chance to drive forward just before the half hour mark but his pass to Saka was cut out.

THOMAS PARTEY – 8

So consistent at the moment, something Arsenal fans have not seen from the Ghanaian midfielder in a long time owing mostly to injury.

Made some crucial interceptions and showed real composure playing out from deep.

LEANDRO TROSSARD – 8

One of Arsenal’s most important players right now. Since his red card at Man City, he has notched a goal and an assist – the latter here for Havertz to open the scoring with a perfectly-timed cross.

BUKAYO SAKA – 7

After an early shot over the bar from a trademark cut inside, the England international had a slight drop off in influence before his scuffed free-kick flew in untouched from out wide.

Still, he gave Mendes a torrid time at left-back. Even PSG manager Luis Enrique watched on at times in awe inside his technical area.

GABRIEL MARTINELLI – 7

A quiet night for the Brazilian following his first goal since March against Leicester, which may have been down to a big collision with Gianluigi Donnarumma in the first few minutes.

Should have made it 3-0 with a volley inside the box after the break but it was straight at Donnarumma. Unlucky not to get on the scoresheet.

KAI HAVERTZ – 9

Brave and brilliant to head in from Trossard’s teasing cross, despite the onrushing lump that is Donnarumma trying to take his head off.

Almost had an assist too with a cute lay-up for Martinelli in the box. The striker-midfield debate should be over – Havertz is a top-class centre forward.

SUBS:

JAKUB KIWIOR (TIMBER, 45) – 7

Did what was expected of him at left-back. Produced a good recovery tackle on Kang-in Lee in the box.

MIKEL MERINO (PARTEY, 64) – 7

Finally, a debut for the Spaniard. Some neat touches under pressure, slotting in seamlessly next to Rice.

GABRIEL JESUS (TROSSARD, 74) – 6

Looked desperate to impress having struggled for starts so far and that looks to be working against him – things just aren’t clicking.

MYLES LEWIS-SKELLY (SAKA, 92) – N/A

Now, a day after Saka scored in Arsenal’s 2-0 Champions League win over PSG, the hatchet appears to have been buried.

Saka and Pires posed together for a smiley selfie in the home dressing room, with Saka cheekily captioning it: “Friends again.”

This saw relieved Arsenal fans declare that Pires has been completely forgiven.

One said: “Almost lost his legend status for that wild statement.”

Another declared: “We almost cancelled this man because of you.”

One noted: “Future legend with legend.”

Another added: “Still can’t believe of all people he tried to say Doku is better.”
