Meet Amy Kenyon from Married at First Sight: Blackburn wedding planner among MAFS UK’s first intruders

MARRIED AT First Sight season nine is in full swing, and there has been more drama than ever.

Amy Kenyon, 29, is a wedding coordinator.

But she has swapped her job to bag the title of bride herself on Married At First Sight.

Hailing from Blackburn, Amy is looking for the “man of her dreams”.

Revealing her big news about being on MAFS, Amy posted on Instagram: “Surprise! I got married to a total a stranger!”

Amy’s ideal man

Before going on the show Amy described her perfect groom.

In her introduction video, she said she was looking for a “tall man who’s a gentleman”.

After having three serious relationships, Amy wants to leave her love life in the hands of the MAFS experts who can do the hard work for her.

She said: “I hoping they’ll help me find someone who I can truly fall in love with.”

Meet the groom

Fans have been given a sneak peek at who Amy is set to marry on MAFS – and there is already trouble in paradise.

Viewers will watch her marry prison worker Luke from Kent.

However, things don’t get off to the best start, and in a clip from their wedding Amy reveals that her groom gives her the “ick”.

Claim to MAFS fame

Before signing up to the show, Amy already had a link to Married At First Sight.

A source told The Sun that she previously “enjoyed a string of dates” with former MAFS UK groom Arthur Poremba.

The E4 star left the matchmaking experiment single in 2023 after his bride Laura Vaughan ended their relationship, in their final vow renewal ceremony.

A source told us: “Amy and Arthur had been messaging each other for a little while.

“She then disappeared for three months to go on the show and then all of a sudden reappeared one day and he went ‘where the f*** did you go?’

“She said she couldn’t tell him so he asked her if she’d been on Married At First Sight and she confirmed she had.”

The source continued: “They ended up meeting up and going to a rave together after that, but didn’t get on romantically so decided not to pursue things.”

The pair also shared a picture together on social media.

A representative for Amy has denied that the pair were a couple.

BBC in major schedule shake-up as a FULL NIGHT of programming is axed for Strictly star

THE BBC is set to undergo a major schedule shake-up in order to honour one of its most beloved stars.

Angela Rippon will see her TV life flash before her eyes this month when BBC Four celebrates her 80th birthday.

The channel has cleared its entire schedule and dumped all of its regular programming in favour of a night devoted to Angela.

BBC Four has opted to show a series of classic TV episodes from the BBC archives hosted by Angela.

In total, a whopping nine programmes about or hosted by Angela will be screened across the evening.

The night will kick off at 7pm with a special entitled Angela Rippon at the BBC, a documentary-style programme looking back at Angela’s best moments at the Beeb.

From starting out as a local news reporter to becoming a quiz show host and for her appearance on Morecambe & Wise’s 1976 Christmas Show.

A special programme will then follow showing Angela recalling her fondest memories from her time on Top Gear before an old episode hosted by her is screened in full.

The episode in question will be the first ever one, originally broadcast on 22 April 1977, where Angela drives up the M1 in her Ford Capri and explains the importance of road and motorway safety.

Next up will be arguably Angela’s biggest role to date – her time on the original Come Dancing.

Angela will be seen chatting about her time on the show before the 1990 final episode is aired in full.

Other programmes to air within the special day include Angela Rippon Meets: The Hoofers and Angela Rippon: Masterteam among others.

Angela’s latest TV gig was her time on Strictly Come Dancing where she was paired with now benched pro, Kai Widdrington.

She wowed on the dancefloor which marked a full circle moment for her, having presented the original show that Strictly is based on.

Angela reached week 10 on the show and largely managed to avoid the glare of the Strictly scandal that followed, but it was claimed earlier this year that Angela was told not to speak about an injury she had sustained during training for a newspaper interview.

Behind the scenes, Angela’s body took a beating in the training room, though show chiefs allegedly didn’t want her to share details after a gory accident, according to her agent Sue Ayton.

Angela Rippon - Night at the BBC

  • 7pm – Angela Rippon At The BBC
  • 7:45pm – Angela Rippon Remembers… Top Gear
  • 7:50pm – Top Gear (S1E1, 1977)
  • 8:20pm – Angela Rippon Remembers… Come Dancing
  • 8:30pm – Come Dancing (1990 Final)
  • 9:10pm – Angela Rippon Meets: The Hoofers
  • 10pm – Angela Rippon Reporting: The Soap Opera Business
  • 10:50pm – Masterteam with Angela Rippon
  • 11:20pm – Angela Rippon: Portrait

Speaking to BBC Radio 4, she said: “Angela was writing a column at the time for a newspaper and she wanted to include this because it was such a wonderful story how everyone had come together.

“And we were told to scale this back, you are not to mention you cut your leg and there was blood. Well, why not?

“Because this is showing the BBC at its best. We were encouraged to play down the fact that she had hurt herself so as not to puncture the illusion and fantasy.”

Sue went on to describe the frivolity of the Strictly world as an illusion.

She continued: “They need to look at the entry point and how people are prepared. This is terribly hard work.

“What we found was that the BBC creates an illusion and a fantasy of this wonderful world. Rehearsals are all happy, but at the same time it is very hard work.”

Sir Alex Ferguson picked on me after a Man Utd game but nearly sacked me for my reaction – it’s my biggest regret

FORMER Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel has revealed that Sir Alex Ferguson wanted to kick him out of the club.

Schmeichel explained that he regretted his reaction to Fergie’s hairdryer treatment after it threatened his position at Man Utd.

Arguably one of Man Utd’s greatest ever goalkeeper’s Schmeichel has told how Fergie wanted to sack him after the pair had a huge run-in.

The heated row occurred on the back end of a 3-3 draw by Liverpool in 1994, after Man Utd had been 3-0 up at half-time.

Speaking on the Stick to Football podcast, brought to you by Sky Bet, Schmeichel explained: “Sir Alex Ferguson picked on me after a game.

“The second half was so bad, but I made a lot of saves and I felt like I kept the team in it. He blamed me for my goal kicks ending up with ‘Razor’ Ruddock every time, who was 80 yards away.

“I felt really heart done by for him picking on me. My head went and that was probably my biggest regret in football and I’m not repeating that.

Schmeichel revealed he only saved his Old Trafford career by apologising to his manager and team-mates.

The Dane added: “On a Monday morning, he called me into his office and said ‘I’m going to sack you. I can’t have a player doing this’.

“And I said that’s fine and apologised to him. He then called a meeting in the dressing room and went berserk. That was probably the worst I’ve ever seen him.”

“He was so angry. He never done that in training before. He left and then I apologised to the team.

“My behaviour was so out of order. There are certain things you can do and certain things you can’t do.”

Schmeichel was an integral part of United’s winning machine during his eight years at the club between 1991 and 1999.

He won 15 major trophies, including five league titles with the Red Devils and finished on the ultimate high of a Champions League triumph to complete a historic Treble.

Schmeichel conceded that the exchanges between Ferguson and his senior stars would often be “brutal to watch”.

The 60-year-old had earlier revealed that Fergie wanted players to talk back at times and picked certain confrontations by “design”.

Schmeichel added: “What I learnt with him is that 95 per cent of everything he said was by design.

“He’d been thinking about it. I’m waiting for the opportunity to say that or this.

“So he would pick those moments and the good thing about that is once it happened, gone.”

Three-quarters of parents say their kids only have ‘slim chance’ of having career in creative industry

THREE quarters of parents reckon their kids only have a ‘slim chance’ of making a successful career in a creative industry.

A poll of 2,000 mums and dads found 66 per cent like the idea of their children pursuing creative roles such as graphic design, game design or broadcasting.

WORK IT OUT Three-quarters of parents say their kids only have 'slim chance' of having career in creative industry
More than half of parents worry their child will regret their career path

But 73 per cent fear the routes and opportunities into the creative industries can feel too closed off to many.

Nearly six in 10 (57 per cent) fear having ‘contacts’ is just as important as qualifications for career advancement.

And 84 per cent think ‘it’s not what you know, it’s who you know’, if you want to work in the broadcast and TV industry.

While 27 per cent believe in today’s job market, a ‘secure’ career path is more important than following a passion.

However, 86 per cent of parents would feel more confident about their child pursuing a creative career if they knew more about the opportunities available.

The research was commissioned by the Gatsby Charitable Foundation to raise awareness of T-levels, a two-year, career-focused qualification for 16- to 19-year-olds which is equivalent to three A-levels and includes a 45-day industry placement.

Singer, author and TV personality, Alesha Dixon, who is part of the ‘T-team’, said: “The creative industries are absolutely bursting with exciting opportunities for young people, and not just in front of the camera.

“There are hundreds of different jobs that provide fulfilling and successful careers, but getting your foot in the door can be challenging, which is why young people need to be given the opportunity to start building up a network of contacts before they’re 18.”

The research also found 47 per cent of parents believe the job market favours those with relevant industry experience.

And 49 per cent would like to see more internships and work placements in creative fields, while 39 per cent think the value of creative careers should be more widely promoted to society.

But 57 per cent admitted they’re worried their child will eventually choose a career path they’d come to regret, according to the OnePoll.com data.

TV Presenter and Businesswoman Sara Davies, who is also one of the latest ‘T-team’ recruits, said: “The creative industries need more young talent.

“Being able to use creative muscles is beneficial in so many areas of our lives, and the workplace is one of them.

“Whether you’re going straight for a career in a creative industry, are creating and designing something to market, or if you need to think differently in a more corporate job, the benefits are so far-reaching.”

Who is Big Brother narrator Marcus Bentley and has he always been the voice of the show?

BIG BROTHER is one of the most iconic shows on the box, starting a whole new wave of reality TV. A new series is now back, and narrator Marcus Bentley is returning with it.
Marcus Bentley is the famous Big Brother narrator
Rex Features

Who is Marcus Bentley?

Marcus Bentley is the voice you hear on Big Brother saying words like, “Day 13 in the Big Brother house…” Thanks to this he is one of the most famous voices in British television.

It’s a dream job. I’m quite happy with my lot.

Marcus Bentley
Marcus has narrated every episode of Big Brother since 2000, even following the show to Channel 5 after it was axed from Channel 4, and also to its new home on ITV2. He also narrated every series of Celebrity Big Brother.
Many fans believed that Marcus had been axed from the reboot on ITV, but it turned out their fears were premature, as he is still the narrator, and not the voice of the diary room. Marcus told his followers on X: “Listen guys I’ve had a lot of this tonight – but just to reiterate, for some who think I wasn’t on the show this evening – I am not the voice of the diary room Big Brother – never have been. “I’m the narrator of the show and I was narrating the show when all the housemates had entered.”

Where is Marcus Bentley from?

Marcus has a strong Geordie accent, but many have wondered exactly where he is from. The TV star was born on October 4, 1967, in Middlesbrough. He was then brought up in Stockton-On-Tees in County Durham. However, Marcus now lives in Canterbury in Kent.

What work has Marcus Bentley done besides Big Brother?

As well as narrating Big Brother and Celebrity Big Brother since their inception in the UK, Marcus has also narrated some BB spin-off shows. He did voiceovers for Big Brother Countdown and Ultimate Big Brother, as well as narrating a documentary about Celebrity Big Brother’s Chantelle Houghton. Although he’s most famous for his voiceover work, Marcus has a degree in acting from East 15 School and pursued acting roles before getting the Big Brother job. The talented star also used his famous Geordie accent starring in adaptations of Catherine Cookson novels, set in Newcastle and County Durham. He’s also starred in adverts and had a few minor film roles. When Marcus was a drama student, he actually lost out in an audition for the lead role in Dennis Potter’s TV series Lipstick on Your Collar to another then-unknown actor by the name of Ewan McGregor. Still, he has no regrets about becoming a voiceover artist. Speaking to The Guardian, he said: “It’s a dream job. Don’t get me wrong, I’d loved to have had that Ewan McGregor career too, but I’m quite happy with my lot.” The voice will be back for a new series of Big Brother hosted by AJ Odudu and Will Best. Teasing the launch, ITV said: “The public once again holds all the cards, voting throughout the series and ultimately deciding who will leave this experience with a life changing cash prize. Who wins? You decide.” Watch the live launch on Sunday, October 6th on ITV2 and ITVX.

Celebrity Big Brother's Top Earners

Over the years some of the stars who have entered the famous house have earned big pay packets:

But the former undisputed world boxing champion is not getting kicked or elbowed for any number.

Crawford said to Bernie the Boxer: “I told Conor, ‘Hell no’.

“They called me and they offered me the fight and me and Conor got on the phone and started trying to figure something out.

“And I told him, ‘Man I ain’t getting into no octagon with you so you can be kicking me and elbow me and s***’.

“He started laughing and s*** and he said ‘Man, I respect it. You respect my sport just like I respect your sport and you understand that if you get in an octagon you’re going to be at a disadvantage.

“‘Just like if I get into the boxing ring with you, I’m going to be at a disadvantage’.

“But he was like, ‘We will make a s*** ton of money’. I said, ‘Yeah, sometimes it ain’t about the money, I can make money but you ain’t about to be kicking me, dude’.

“Kicks and elbows man that s*** ain’t no joke.”

McGregor put his UFC career on hold in 2017 to face ring great Floyd Mayweather in a crossover clash worth huge sums.

Crawford meanwhile wrestled in his youth but went on to become one of the greatest boxers of his era.

McGregor said during a Duelbits livestream: “Crawford is very slick, he also has a wrestling background pedigree.

“You know they’re always talking to me about bouts. I’ve already boxed a boxer, and the best boxer in MMA is me.

“You know what I mean? I generate the most. We were talking back and forth about a two-fight deal.”

In Crawford’s last fight he beat Israil Madrimov to win the WBA super-welterweight world title.

It was also his first with Saudi boxing supremo Turki Alalshikh’s Riyadh Season – who recently partnered with the UFC.

a poster showing the stats of conor mcgregor and terence crawford

And McGregor, 36, was the first to reveal that Crawford, 37, was approached for the two-fight double header before declining.

He said: “I get on the phone and say ‘Crawford, they’re here talking about you and me. Two-fight deal, MMA first, boxing second.

“I know you have an extensive wrestling background, and balls the size of a Bengal tiger.

“They’re asking for a fight, it’ll be hundreds of millions on the line. ‘What’s up?’, I said.

“And then he goes, ‘I don’t fancy taking a kick off Conor McGregor’, that’s what he said. You have to respect that.”

Crawford is a four-division champion and considered one of the best boxers on the planet.

He is currently eyeing a super-fight against Mexican icon Canelo Alvarez, 34, despite rumours of pondering retirement.

McGregor meanwhile has been out of action since July 2021 when he broke his leg before being ruled out of his return bout in June.

The Irishman was forced to pull out of facing Michael Chandler due to a toe injury.

Chandler, 38, has since signed to rematch Charles Oliveira, 34, on November 16 to leave McGregor’s next fight in doubt.

Erik ten Hag sack: Old Trafford legend rants ‘these are not Man Utd players’ and demands entire squad is dismantle

EX-MANCHESTER UNITED hero Tim Howard has called for a complete DISMANTLING of the squad.

The Red Devils’ season went from bad to worse last Sunday when they were thumped 3-0 by Tottenham at Old Trafford.

Ex-United stopped Tim Howard insists this current crop of Red Devils aren’t fit to wear the shirt[/caption]

The defeat has put even more pressure on the shoulders of manager Erik ten Hag, who has vehemently defended his position with his trophy haul since being at the club.

But the team’s inconsistency since the Dutchman took charge has prompted intense scrutiny of the £550million he’s spent on his squad, which former Red Devil Howard insists aren’t fit to wear the shirt.

In an explosive rant, the retired goalkeeper and NBC Sports pundit: “They doubled down on Ten Hag and backed him by bringing in more of his players.

“When you look at the squad it’s not a brilliant squad, they spent a lot of money on some average players, certainly not Manchester United players.

‘If you get rid of him then you have to dismantle this team he has created.”

Ten Hag was expected to be given the chop at the end of last season but seemingly saved his bacon by winning the FA Cup.

But Howard has another theory for why the United brass didn’t hand the 54-year-old his P45.

The American, who made 77 appearances for the Red Devils, continued: “I’m not sure why they didn’t, maybe financial reasons.

“Or they didn’t have the right person in place to replace him or maybe they truly believed he was the right person.

“I’m not sure that it looks that way.”

October will be a pivotal month in the Red Devils’ domestic and European campaigns and could potentially make or break their season, which Ten Hag is adamant WILL be a “success.”

He told Sky Sports: “We are going to make a success from the season.

“Nothing is easy, but this is nothing for me to panic about.

“We can sort [the problems] out, this team can sort this out.”

When asked if he fears he may be sacked if the next two games don’t go his troops’ way, he added: “I’m not thinking about it, I’m not anxious.

“We created a togetherness in the summer with the ownership and the leadership.

“We made this agreement, and we were all behind it. We know the strategy [is to bring in] young players in a transition period.

“They also know in May in all my last six seasons there were always trophies and that is what we are aiming for.”

United will be back in action this evening, travelling to Lisbon to take on Porto in their second Europa League outing of the campaign.
