3 days agoWorld LeaksComments Off on Ring doorbell makes major changes to subscriptions with new pricier plan – and it includes 24/7 recording
RING has revealed changes to its subscription plans with the introduction of a pricey new premium tier.
The Amazon-owned video doorbell maker has announced a bunch of new features, including the ability to continuously record 24/7 for the first time.
There are now three Ring Home subscription tiers available, previously known as Ring Protect.
Home Basic remains the cheapest option at £4.99 a month, which covers just one device and stores up to 180 days of video event history.
Users will get new Video Preview Alerts, showing a short clip in the push notification so you can instantly see what triggered a motion alert without opening the app.
Home Standard is the new name for Protect Plus, which also remains at £7.99 a month.
It now comes with an extended live view, allowing you to watch your camera feed live for up to 30 minutes at a time.
Home Premium is the brand new top end tier which comes in at £15.99.
The plan covers all the Ring devices in your home and 24/7 recording for the first time.
Footage is saved for a maximum of 14 days giving you time to check and download any you wish to keep.
24/7 recording is currently only available on the following models:
Ring Stick Up Cam
Stick Up Cam Pro
Indoor Camera (2nd Gen)
Pan-Tilt Indoor Camera
Of course, Ring doorbell owners can continue to accept calls from their front door in real-time and watch a live stream without paying for a subscription.
The changes will take effect from November 5.
Fed up with subscription fees?
Video storage is the key feature that lead Ring owners to subscribe.
But there are some alternative brands around that allow you to do just that… for free.
Instead of storing them in the cloud you can store them on a local hard drive at no extra cost.
18+ Ts and Cs apply. First month membership £1, then £3 per month unless you cancel at least 7 days before your next billing date. For more information contact help@thesun.co.uk
LONGSHOT
COMMANCHE FALLS (4.30 Ascot)
He ran well for a long way in the Ayr Gold Cup last month. He handles the mud and he could be hard to catch if ridden positively.
EACH WAY THIEF
BARADAR (4.30 Ascot)
He loves the mud and has tumbled down the weights, so he is handicapped to run well.
DASHING ROGER (5.05 Ascot)
He also loves soft ground and always peaks at this time of the year, while Kieran Shoemark is a good jockey booking.
